Since hedgehog owners consistently buy hedgehogs without setting reasonable expectations here are some expectations to set. Adapted/expanded from u/ArcadeRivalry's post.
If you know what you are getting into, they are the most wonderful creatures ever and bring many people on this sub joy. If you feel like your hedgehog "hates" you they are just being their grumpy/terrified selves! You may be lucky and form a close bond.

Hi guys!
We have regular hog(s) in our garden, and we see them ranging from about 6.30-10pm (over the last week anyway).
We think they may have a nest behind our garage as we've seen different sized ones.
Before the last week, we only caught glimpses at night time but on Saturday this little one came at 6.38pm, which is quite early. Then 8.30, then 7ish.
She (assumed) hunts around in the grass and then usually eats the food I put out and has a big drink. The concern is last night she was at the feeder eating for about 25 minutes.
I spoke to my local hedgehog rescue centre and they're worried as it looks like she has a dip in the neck which could signal dehydration. At first they said she could be a nesting mother and that's the reason for her early appearance, but then they said she probably wouldn't hang around for long.
They said they were concerned and that they'd check her over if I was able to bring her in. My fear is that she's fine and that this is cruel to rip her away from potential babies. She will be so scared if I put her in a box. I'm then conflicted because the rescue are concerned. They said I could return her if they check and she's all good.
What do you think? Any advice welcome šš¼

Iāve been on and off staying at my grandmaās over the past few weeks. No reason, just wanting to spend time with someone a she is never busy
But anyways, hedgehog
After making his new snuggle sack, Fritter has been more affectionate and brave
I hope itās not just having his schedule changed, but that heās genuinely getting more socialized, incredibly grateful I ended up getting a somewhat affectionate hedgie, I know they arenāt typically cuddly

This is Tigs. Sheās six years old. Got news on Friday that my little girl most likely has cancerā they were going to send a biopsy but did X-rays and said thereās not a whole lot of bone left in her jaw from the tumor and itās going continue to grow and they were worried about it breaking her jaw along the way.
She left Friday with a couple different pain meds to administer twice a day.. and felt this wasnāt right to do to her. I gave her a few nice days, let her run in the grass, eat what she liked, although she only chose her meal worms and ground up kibble, but she seemed happy enough.
I decided to say goodbye to her before anything got worse and while she seemed fine (I say seemed because she was on pain killers). I gave her a kiss dropped her off. It was heart wrenching.
Iām just feeling terrible today.
She was such a sassy thing. Love you Tigs š

So, I had some left over yarn and was bored this weekend and wanted to make something so I made a little purse. Turns out it makes the best snuggle sack! Tucker loved it and settled right in. She stayed there the whole time while I started a second without a strap. She usually is off to explore. Now I need an excuse to make a bunch of them! š

A frog chills out in a water bowl. A hedgehog eats dinner and scares the frog, the frog jumps out of the water bowl and scares the hedgehog. The hedgehog scares the frog and the frog jumps on a lawnmower and scares the hedgehog again.

Dinner was served at 20:50hrs, there were no reservations for the restaurant last evening so we were expecting a quiet evening given the inclement weather. Tank, clearly had been giving us ā āļøāļøššreviews on HOG ADVISOR. So staff, weāre delighted when Tank brought 5 chums for dinner. They dinned on finest mealworms, with a side of chicken & catfood, washed down with the finest clean water.

This diva hasnāt pooped or peed in 2 days and isnāt running on her wheel, which is worrying since sheās usually a big runner. It started after a 10 hour road trip where she got bad motion sickness and threw up even while being held. Usually she bounces back fast but this time itās dragging on, sheās been lethargic and mostly just lying down.
Took her to the vet today and doc said nothing major or anything to be worried at, sheās still alert despite its her usual bed time, just extra grumpy. Vet prescribed deworming since her poop was a bit green, plus a multivitamin. Her weight also dropped a bit, from 310g to 280g, so thinking of upping her calories with stuff like freeze dried egg yolk or extra mealworms (normally she only gets mealworms on weekends). This is the first time bringing her in for being sick, earlier vet visits were just regular checkups.
The doc told me to try giving the meds straight into Mikiās mouth if possible so she actually takes it properly, just one drop a day for each medicine. But I was thinking of mixing it into her kibble instead since Iām scared she wonāt eat if I put it directly in her mouth. Donāt want to stress her out more with that because Miki is really the introvert type of hedgehog, she loves just minding her own business
Would love to hear if anyoneās been through something similar or has any advice :) thank you!!

I got a few good pictures of my silly little guy, but he hates my phone and typically doesnāt give me time to snap a pic before he turns away.
He also got a new snuggle sack that he is adjusting to his liking

My sisterās hedgehog has been acting a little strange for the past few days. We were waiting for a vet appointment slot to open up but she is now gasping for air. No exotic vet within several hours is open during weekends for emergencies. We plan on bringing her to the vet first thing tomorrow but first we have to get her through this night. We have a nebulizer that we are going to fill with water and just one drop of albuterol to try to help her breathe. Is there anything else we can do?
UPDATE: she made it through the night with constant oxygen and intermittent nebulizer treatments. X-rays show both lungs full of fluid. Iām cautiously optimistic, as there is treatment available itās just a matter of how she responds to it
UPDATE 2: sheās responding well to the medication and the vet says thereās a decent chance we can bring her home tonight
FINAL UPDATE: sheās home and weāre giving her oral medications. Sheās doing so much better now. We might even be able to take her off of oxygen by tomorrow.

I recently got pet mice and ever since I got them she hasnāt been acting like herself. She doesnāt run on her wheel much anymore and barely eats. Will she get used to them with time?
