So I'm from a Marwari/Rajasthani family, but we've been living in Maharashtra for a long time. We've been bringing Ganpati Bappa home and celebrating Ganeshotsav for years.
Recently, a pandit told my father that Ganpati is basically a festival for Maharashtrians, and that Marwaris shouldn't really be bringing Ganpati home.
His explanation was that Ganpati comes to Maharashtra for these 10-ish days to bless Maharashtrians, which is why Maharashtrians celebrate Ganeshotsav.
Because of this, my father is saying this will be our last year celebrating Ganpati.
I'm honestly confused because I always thought Ganesh Chaturthi was a Hindu festival and not something restricted to a particular community.
So is there actually anything in the Puranas/Shastras that says Ganeshotsav is specifically for Maharashtrians?
Like, is there a story saying Ganpati comes specifically to Maharashtra during these days? Or is the whole "Ganpati = Maharashtra" thing mainly because Maharashtra developed such a huge cultural tradition around the festival?
Also, are there any restrictions on a Marwari/Rajasthani family bringing Ganpati home?
I'm not trying to disrespect the pandit or start some Maharashtra vs Rajasthan debate 😂. I genuinely want to know what the scriptures/traditional sources actually say.
If anyone knows the relevant passages from the Ganesh Purana, Mudgala Purana, Skanda Purana, etc., please share them. I'd much rather see an actual source than just hearsay.
Because honestly, I'd really like to continue bringing Bappa home if there's no actual religious reason we shouldn't. 🙏
Ganpati Bappa Morya! ❤️

in Madison square garden he said that if a hindu says that India doesn't belong to Muslims, he's not a Hindu.
Muslims themselves refuse to sing vande mataram, refuse to chant Bharat Mata ki Jai, they don't consider this land holier than mecca Medina . obviously they don't have the right to stay here.
but why do his statements always contradict what we in the RSS stand for? it's really demoralizing for ground level workers like us who put everything in line for the Sangh.

I think the pearls project to surround China is good, however I think the govt should not touch the dials of the Sentinelse because these tribal have not been contacted by outside groups and have had to no immunity to diseases. They will die if they get exposed, in addition even if you vaccinate them we do not know how they will react to the vaccination since they ahve diffnet genetic composition. Acquiring their island will only cause an unintentional genocide by disease.
The govt should avoid the Sentinelse and with the rest of the tribals who have openly interacted with society now they should provide quotas and reservation for jobs which come from the port project, and make some agreement on which island they will touch and which not. Otherwise we will be no differ from the British Raj who destroyed Sanskrit culture and Gurukul using the excuse of ‘development’.

pls google search Hindus for Human Rights. Check their website.
It’s a so called global Hindu organization active in USA, Australia and UK.
Their board members: Muslim Imams, Christian Fathers, Swara Bhasker and more harpies like her.
When was this organization formed? I guess around 2019 after Modi won the second term. They oppose India’s rightful claim of Kashmir, and basically they pretend to be a Hindu organization to misrepresent Hindus globally.
Falsehood at play. Since Hindus are mostly uninterested in advocacy and being united, speaking up, they take advantage of that.
They receive millions of dollars $$$$ in funding each year. Right now they are actively lobbying against RSS Mohan Bhagvat’s visit in America.
Ok who cares what they say? Indian Hindus are not affected by all this. Let them bark.
Listen. In western countries, law makers and ministries often consult immigrant communities, so they can receive guidance on making new laws, on passing court judgments. While most Indian immigrants are busy dancing and making reels, and most temple going uncles are busy making money for themselves, these people go talk to the lawmakers and say they “represent” all Hindus worldwide.
Result: Hinduphobia does not get acknowledged. The real history of Hindus, for example genocides by Mughals. 1990 Kashmiri Pandit genocide do not get discussed.
SUCH GROUPS ROUTINELY ADDRESS AMERICAN PARLIAMENTS
Republic Day 26 Jan 2022: Hamid Ansari (Former Vice President of India) alongside representatives from the Indian American Muslim Council, with this Hindus for Human Rights group
Raised concerns over the rise of majoritarianism and the emergence of "cultural nationalism," arguing that it undermined India's secular foundation and marginalized religious minorities.
See, nobody cares if Swara Bhaskar speaks but former VP? That brings credibility to such groups!
August 20 2025: Manoj Jha (Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha and National Spokesperson for the Rashtriya Janata Dal) held a virtual U.S. Congressional Briefing on India's democratic landscape, Addressed democratic backsliding during elections claimed Forced mass evictions of Muslims in Assam & millions denied the right to vote in Bihar.
Indian politicians, making such propaganda statements in US Congressional briefings! and Indian Hindus know nothing about it.
“Congressional” here means it was a briefing connected to the U.S. Congress, not the Indian National Congress party. It was co-hosted by Hindus for Human Rights (HfHR) and the Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC).
Do you see how deep the agenda is? There are many such organizations, actively trying to lobby local foreign government support and influence geopolitical and communal vote against Hindus.
One of their OFFICIAL statement goes: “We reject the notion of systemic 'Hinduphobia' in the United States or India with any equivalence to Islamophobia or anti-Semitism. ... In light of recent events threatening freedom of speech, we emphasize that mere criticism of caste, Hindu nationalism, or Hinduism itself, especially when it comes from marginalized communities, should not be construed as anti-Hindu sentiment.”
What it results in: assume a Hindu immigrant complains to his boss about facing racism and Hinduphobia. Maybe his colleagues pressured him to eat beef and if he refused, made fun of him. Suppose someone mocked his Tilak or bindi. The employer does not recognize Hinduphobia the same way they recognize Islamophobia. If you look at the Diversity Inclusion policies in your company even in India you will see they dont even mention such issues.
The local authorities too would refer to the official statements and representatives of such organizations before making judgement. And that’s why when genuine Hindus raise their voice they are dismissed because a CREDIBLE “HINDU” ORGANIZATION HAS ALREADY CONVINCED THE SYSTEM.
Meanwhile, if a devout Hindu Indian immigrant in western countries does Pooja or organizes a havan, Hindus from India are quick to say “go back to India don’t do this there” and if Hindus from Guyana or Mauritius want to host Ganga aarti in foreign countries, Indian Hindus will criticize them. We are so busy fighting each other over ideologies and opinions, we don’t notice how their lobby is taking action in real life.
I am not a public speaker, but I wanted to just share the info here as I found this very disturbing. so if anyone is good at researching and making content, talk about this. Else just share with your friends. Be aware of what’s happening in the world! Islam and communism both use politics and education as a tool, and this is how it plays against us.
