as the title says, I’m just wondering if it’s worth the costs that go with it.

for context, I’m specifically looking into a 2-3 week program during the summer that would go to a different continent. it’s for graphic design, which requires an internship OR study abroad in order to graduate. i already have an internship so it’s not required, but I would get some credits and a cool experience to bond with my peers in the major.

I believe it’s about 7 or 8k. is it worth spending that much for just a couple weeks, or would it be a better use of that money to plan my own trip somewhere?

I’m a freshman here at Iowa State, and lately I’ve been experiencing a lot of anxiety about the possibility of being falsely accused of using AI on academic assignments. I’ve written for fun for as long as I can remember and have always loved reading, so writing has naturally become one of my stronger skills. I rarely use AI in general, and I have never used it to write my academic work.

However, my academic advisor recently mentioned that some professors are extremely cautious about AI use and will not hesitate to report students if they suspect that an assignment was AI-generated, and some will do that without even communicating with the student first. Since hearing that, I’ve become increasingly worried that the quality or style of my writing could somehow work against me. It has gotten to the point where I sometimes catch myself intentionally simplifying my writing or avoiding more complex ideas because I’m afraid that writing “too well” could make a professor suspicious.

I don’t want that fear to affect the quality of my work or keep me from developing as a writer. Is there anything I can do proactively to protect myself in the event that I am ever falsely accused of using AI? For example, would keeping outlines, drafts, revision histories, notes, or other documentation of my writing process be helpful?

Hello! This my first time posting something on Reddit so I apologize if it seems out of pocket 😭

Recently, I've been playing Pokémon Go on campus, and I noticed there hasn't been many people in raids and such. And playing by myself had been a bit boring, but nevertheless I still enjoy the game since it helps me move around and such instead of being stuck in my dorm all day.

I know this might be the second week of classes and Club Fest isn't until September 9th, but I'm curious if there's like a club or a community for Pokémon Go or anything Pokémon related at ISU. It would be nice connecting with some people that have the same interest as me. But yeah, that's really about it. :)

I am not sure if they subscribed to a Reddit Account, but the last two days whilst observing the enclipse of the moon, a nice thoughtful college women approached me offering me food from Casey's. I was a bit down at the time, but the simple connection of hospitality and kindness, brought my spirits up. I thank them, but just wanted to say it here if they have an account that I appreciated that moment, as I was starved at the time. I am in-between jobs and looking for work. I told them that I would pay it forward. That was sweet of them. I am a bit older than them, but seeing younger people still helping others is humbling. Mind you you have to be careful with some people. It really made me appreciate life more and motivated to get back on track. So, thank you for whoever were are. I have a couple chronic illnesses, and I may be able to alleviate some symptoms through strength training. I’m also hoping to look a bit more muscular and build core/upper body strength in anticipation of a new position I’m taking on at my job next summer. I’m pretty good at learning things on my own, but when it comes to fitness I’m totally lost. I’m also not very great at visualizing what I’m doing with my body, so I typically need a lot of extra coaching for stuff like that. I wouldn’t want to teach myself an exercise with improper form. I stay pretty active most of the year and I’m in decent shape, so while I am a beginner, I don’t think that I need something targeted at people who aren’t very active to begin with. I’ve seen that there are fitness classes at State Gym, but I was hoping to learn a bit more about them as the information posted on the website is fairly limited. I’m also open to off-campus recommendations that align with my goals. I think I’m looking for something where I can establish independence after a spending a few sessions learning the ropes and be able to handle it myself from there. Thanks for any advice!

Does anyone recall a sign that was around for awile that was very old school? It was like text only and in monochrome and would make a loud whoosh noise whilst refreshing. I thought it was cool as a tech nerd. I was wondering what technology was used in that and what it was called. I know they had upgraded the digital sign at east two times since then. Thank you for your help. I wish I could had archived that. Such nostalgia and rare moment.

Are there any private locations that can be reserved on campus for telehealth? From what I've heard, the Parks Library Rooms are only sound dampening and you can still be heard if the library is quiet, so I was curious if there were any better spots.

hi there! i just signed a lease for a ground level studio at West Towne through Haverkamp! was just hoping for some reviews (hopefully positive?!) just having trouble finding reviews specific to the studios, rather than the company as a whole!

I have been trying to figure out how much tuition would costs me because I really would love to attend the university. I figured they may offer merit scholarships, so I dug into that (obviously they do), the price was fairly high still so I used the tool. It had four additional scholarships listed that took off a substantial amount. And brought the school into my price range... I don't want to get overly excited though.

Anyone know how that works?
