NATURE NASA released the the clearest images of Mars

NASA's Perseverance rover has sent back its latest images from the Martian surface, giving us another incredibly detailed look at the rocks, terrain and landscape of a world millions of miles away. The rover continues to explore Mars while sending new images and science back to Earth.

Mankind has achieved so much in the past 150 years. 15000 years ago we lived in caves.   The sad part is, that we tend to destroy ourselves. The more powerful and accesable  the technology becomes, the more likely it will happen. It had been close already  several times. In the long run, we are as good as gone.

We tend to hate ourselves. Look at so much of online culture: hating on human beings, hating on children, hating on society and the general public. These spaces aren't healthy.

Double edged sword of anonymity. In a social group, people balance feedback delivery with how they believe it will effect their relationship. Strangers just let you know how they felt.

It's why feedback from strangers is so much more valuable than feedback from people who care about you and don't want to hurt your feelings. People are also free to call out what they see as bullshit. This can be a force for good, but it also allows bad actors to infiltrate and manipulate people who will serve up mountains of cognitive dissonance to support bad faith arguments for their chosen prejudice.

It blows my mind that we continue as a species.

We mature slowly. We reproduce in low numbers. Our young are insanely weak compared to other species. We take forever to hit reproductive age. Childbirth is extremely dangerous without modern science.

On top of all that, one of our favorite pastimes EVER is killing each other.....

Yeah, it's astonishing to see comments from people who are sad about animal life instead of human life in a natural calamity. Humans hate humans. We blame ourselves, and a lot of us think that we all should be wiped off so Earth could heal.

We kind of never lived in caves. Caves are horrible places to live.

We still live in caves. Man-made caves usually made of wood, glass, metal, cement, etc. which we now call houses.
