The implosion of the Titan submarine (OceanGate) was so rapid that the pain wasn't even registered by the brain. They didn't feel anything at all. Utterly instantaneous.

The creaking was a known “issue” and very likely the passengers knew that it would creak before departing.

Now, we also know that planes can go through crazy turbulence and eventually land the plane just fine, but it doesn’t mean we don’t sometimes nearly shit our pants when going through it.

Submarines do this normally. Pressure compresses the hull which creaks and pops a bit under normal operation. This isn't a problem as long as the submarine stays within tested depth limits and undergoes regular maintenance.

They could hear multiple loud pops that the CEO knew were carbon fibers cracking, which was the onus for surfacing. It had done this before and they know that's what was happening

I think they really started hitting the buttons on that playstation controller. And they released 3 of the 4 weights attached to the outside to make it rise. Edit 2 weights were discarded.

Regardless of their conscious experience, they paid for a service, then afterwards a bunch of insurance money was paid out by/to various people/entities. A couple of CEOs probably got much less of a bonus thanks to this event. But some lawyers got a bunch more money than expected. In the end it all worked out financially.
