The implosion of the Titan submarine (OceanGate) was so rapid that the pain wasn't even registered by the brain. They didn't feel anything at all. Utterly instantaneous.

I saw that interview as well and he definitely knows more about submersibles than most of us.

In 2012 he was actually the deepest in the ocean that any human has gone: 10,898m. He was the one piloting the submarine camera rig for the filming of Challenger deep. Said it was so dangerous that he refused to put another camera operator in danger for the filming and they needed it to be a manned sub. He’s since been over taken by another diver, but yeah. James Cameron knows his subs.

James Cameron is in fact one of the world's foremost experts on deep submersible technology. He basically wrote Titanic so he'd have an excuse to get a studio to fund his submersible.

James Cameron knows more about deep sea submersibles that most of the experts in that field. He IS an expert.
