A note about amazon links in comments

Hi All,

Reddit automatically marks comments that contain the a.co url shortener that Amazon uses when you share from the app as Spam. The comments show up in my mod queue and I often don't see them in time for the info to be useful. Which is a shame, as people are answering questions where they obtained upgrades for their Renegade. The original Amazon link should suffice, I haven't seen that come up as spam.

6 months of renegade ownership

Post image
Upvotes

I recently purchased a 2016 jeep renegade limited with the 2.4L engine in February of this year, and hit my 6 month anniversary milestone with the car and have been loving it, purchased it with 80000 miles on it and don’t drive much to do being in school so I am just shy of 84000 miles. I am about to get my transmission fluid replaced due to it never being done, and have been doing my oil every 3k miles due to reports of oil consumption being an issue with these cars. Anyone have any suggestions, questions, comments or concerns they have had with their vehicle I would love to hear it to ensure and keep my car in best condition as I can. Trying to make sure I get the most money out of it for what I paid :)

What's going on?

Hello, I keep getting these errors coming up when I turn on ignition on my 2016 1.6 . The battery is not very old 6 months maybe, says check parking light but they are all working , my stop/start is always turned off because I dont like it also the engine light comes on and saying check engine. It will do this for a week or so then be ok again just gets on my tits.

Any ideas? Has anyone has similar issue or is it just the jeep repetition living up to it .

Cautionary Renegade Tale

I was heading in to my annual heart transplant checkup - I’m 11.5 years out from my transplant. As you can imagine, my mind was on my appointment. What will they ask? What will I say? What will I ask? It’s a big deal and this is your time to ask questions.

I get to the hospital (Brigham and Women’s in Boston) and head into the parking garage. No sooner do I enter, I hear loud “BOOM” “BOOM” every couple of seconds. I’m wondering what kind of construction is going on that’s so fu*king loud? It’s like a jack hammer going off right next to the Renegade!

I see motion outside of the driver’s window. I turned to see a woman in a garage employee outfit running along side of me. She’s screaming at me and pointing to the ceiling. Suddenly I realize that I had my Thule top on and it was slamming into the garage rafters.

Absolute panic and embarrassment wash over me. Suddenly I’m stuck against a cement rafter as the ceiling is getting lower as I climb deeper into the garage. I stop, carefully back up, and listen to the slow motion extreme crunch as I try to muscle my way out from the current rafter I’m under.

The same woman directs me to turn around and I creep my way back down the garage. Each rafter scraping and the releasing the Thule with a “BOOM” at the end of reach rafter. She let me park in a reserved space (with a tow warning) and I go about my business.

My checkup when great and my transplant is performing perfectly. AND the Renegade was still there when I got back.

The only damage was mild scrapes to the top of the Thule.

Electrical issue?’

Long story short my jeeps keyfob wasn’t unlocking or locking the car instantly but it would do it after I spammed it. I changed the battery like anyone would, but now it won’t do it at all when I spam it and also the car won’t lock or unlock from the door panel buttons. Side not to start the car I also have to press the push to start with the keyfob. I have a 2018 sport. Any advice helps, I also have a good battery inside the jeep i know battery issues tend to mess up a lot of stuff.

Uconnect screen is basically dead.

Editing to add, I fixed it all by myself lolz. If anyone is interested, this is the screen I got from Amazon. Just make sure you have the silicone adhesive, and in the video I watched, he said I believe you need a t9 screwdriver, I I used a T8 of course that was something I didn't have to had to run out and get a set of small screwdrivers. With the unaccounted for side quest, this took about 2 hours.

RESNAVSCREN Uconnect LCD Screen... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F1FY4DLM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Like the title says, the screen is dead. So after watching some YouTube videos and shopping around, I feel fairly confident I can replace it myself. I didn't get anything crazy expensive cause I don't have it like that right now, but it should suffice. What I find strange is, on the right, is how it works in the morning when I first start the car and is great on the drive in. But, when I leave to go home, it starts like this and progressively gets worse until the entire screen is just black. Hopefully changing out the screen will fix the problem.

Help with Driveline

Hey everyone,

Looking for some advice. Less than a month ago I totaled my vehicle, my folks were being. Ery nice and bought me a 2015 Jeep Renegade Limited 2.4 4x4, 120k, beautiful inside and out. I had it for a week before having what I believe is the renegade rumble. At 28-40/45, if I let up on the gas I get a grinding/rumbling sound from the driveline area, center of the car mostly. I can kill the noise when I got traction control off, 4x4 lock, or into manual mode. I had the DTCM software update done and nothing, if anything the noise hangs out a bit longer now. I took it back in thinking maybe replacing the DTCM itself is the call, as I noticed this being mentioned by JeepCares in the renegade threads. I took it back to Jeep and got, there’s nothing wrong, this is how they all are. And won’t do anything else for me. There’s clearly something wrong, it’s definitely not acoustics that’s for sure. Do any of you have guidance on how to move forward? What did you do? What fixed it(if anything)?

We just dropped money on this and now I have one totaled car, and whatever this nonsense is. Very frustrating.

Thanks,
Mitch

Jeep Renegade Problems (URGENT!!!)

Guys please I need help. I have a Jeep Renegade 2019 and when we left parking I saw a small puddle under it, but thought nothing of it. However, on the highway it started saying the coolant temperature was really high (maxed the gauge), and when we opened we saw that there was no coolant pretty much… but the problem is that after letting it cool down I tried topping it up but the level immediately went down, and I also saw some droplets falling from around under the coolant container. Fast forward a few days and I managed to get the car in a repair shop, and when they added coolant there was no leaks and/or problems (since they said they found none). The coolant level rose normally and I bought another big bottle to top it up if anything else happened. After a 600km drive, right before parking, the car started doing the whole “coolant temperature is hot” thing again. This time I let it cool down for the whole night and went back to it to top it up, because I looked and it was empty again, but the level fell immediately, and some droplets also started falling from the container. The droplets stopped eventually but the level kept falling… I don’t know what to do or what could’ve happened to the car. Does anybody know? It’s urgent, I have to use the car tomorrow morning because I’m currently on a road trip.

EDIT: before the first instance of the problem, I had topped off the coolant like 4-5 days prior, with NO problems…

Jeep going into limp mode?

This has been an ongoing issue, I’ve taken it to the dealership and a local mechanic and neither of them can recreate the issue and they say it seems to be operating normally.

What happens is when I’m driving I will lose all acceleration and my RPMs and speed will drop to zero, the Drive symbol on the shifter will start flashing and no service engine light will come on.

A couple times when it’s idling and I’m waiting in a parking lot, the engine will start to flutter, and when I go to rev the engine the RPMs do not go up but the fluttering will stop.

If I shut the car off and turn it back on, it will continue to drive for a few minutes then do it again.

This seems to only happen when it’s really hot outside later in the day and it happens around an hour of driving the car. If I drive it in the morning I can drive it for several hours with no issue.

When I took it to the mechanic they pulled code PO32F. Any idea on what the issue could be?

Current Owners. What's Your Opinion On Extended Warranty?

I got my 2018 Trailhawk in July 2023. And it was at 34k miles. About 28 months ago I signed up with Endurance Extended Warranty but last week I learned they are being sued. I'm considering canceling my plan. My Jeep is at 86k miles now but still works. Has anyone actually had their engine, transmission, or anything major go bad or regret not having Extended Warranty? I plan to cancel mine within a hour.

Going to larger wheels?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Was looking at possibly buying these wheels someone has for sale near me. They are from a 2018 Compass. Bolt pattern and offset are the same for my current wheels and these. Just wanted to hear from others that have upped their wheel size on if these would fit and if the default tire size would work or if I’d have to get a different size

My car: 2015 Trailhawk
My Wheels: 17x6.5 40mm offset. 215/65/R17 tires

New Wheels: 18x7 40mm offset. 225/55/R18 tires
