I FUCKING LOVE KETCHUPPP

Hey y’all, I got hooked on Sir Kensington brand ketchup at a restaurant I worked at. They discontinued it and now it’s very expensive for what’s left. Anyone have a good, richly flavored, thick textured replacement?

Hunts ketchup is honestly terrible.

I’m new to this sub and feel like I should apologize of the bat for not appreciating the nuances of America’s favorite condiment enough to visit before I needed you.

But. I need you.

For anyone who doesn’t know, General Mills discontinued Annie’s dressing an condiments. Goddess, gone. Shitake Sesame, gone. My beloved Ketchup, GONE.

Heinz has long been a treat waved for going out. Burgers and fries call for Hienz.

But the secret ingredient to my every meatloaf, sloppy joe, baked beans and cocktail sauce was Annie’s.

What I liked about it: it tastes like it was modeled after a dark heriloom loom tomato. The sweetness wasn’t sugary or syrupy, there was a bit of baking spice and there was more umami than garlic/salt. Thickness seemed like they didn’t shy away from the tomato paste.

I never bothered to look at the ingredients so I don’t know what to look for as a replacement.

So far I’ve tried:

Hunts: lowest sugar in the grocery store but too thin and vinegary

Del Monte: Blah, tastes like nothing

Hienz: Again, this is my dipping go-to but it tastes like a treat too me, not food. Too sugary and too slick for cooking.

Melinda’s Chipotle: This is actually amazing. Delicious. I’m using it right now but it’s too strong for every day.

Any old Annie’s fans on the same journey?

I had this ketchup bottle open for some time. When I opened it I saw it was just like a normal open ketchup bottle but after 10-15 minutes I saw that the top is filled with ketchup all over. How is it possible? 🤔🤔

I’m a lifelong Heinz fan, but I’m very excited to test Mutti! I use Mutti products all the time when I’m cooking Italian, so I’m sure this will be awesome as well!

Just emailed them as I couldn’t find it in store and they confirmed it’s discontinued. Real bummer as ever since I had it, Heinz started feeling a little too sweet and artificial to me. Anyone else a fan of Rao’s and know of a similar option?

Okay, so, the other night I had a dream where I got something from a hot dog stand and they had condiment bottles available for customers to grab and use freely. I grabbed ketchup and, I kid you not, I could legitimately taste it. It was really sweet and had essentially no acidic taste whatsoever. I absolutely NEED to find ketchup like it to consume in the waking world!

I am in the US (specifically Texas), and I do NOT have access to Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, or any other “fancy” grocery stores. I have Walmart and Brookshires. If I go to a town like 15 miles away, there’s a Super 1 Foods, but that’s it. Nearest Target and Kroger are an hour away. So, if it’s something exclusive to any store other than Walmart or Brookshires, it’s not an option for me.

I don’t care about additives or “the chemicals/sugar/etc”, I don’t care about things being organic or non-GMO or whatever, none of that BS. I do enjoy Heinz regular ketchup, and Great Value ketchup is also good, but they aren’t even close to what I’m looking for.

Once again, what I’m looking for is very sweet, it’s got the perfect smooth (almost silky actually) texture, and there’s little to no acidic taste/bite to it, but it’s still clearly ketchup in taste. So hit me with your best suggestions that fit my criteria!

did Heinz ketchup change its formula?!!!! It tastes completely different and I am so angry. I am going to start carrying ketchup packets around so I never have to use it…

My favorite brand is Heinz

I prefer it cold, but room temperature is fine

I put it on sandwiches

This is my favorite sandwich, ketchup, mustard, mayo, ham, pickle loaf, Bologna, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onions. I've been laughed at for putting ketchup on a cold sandwich, to me it enhances the flavor.

Similar to Heinz but a little sweeter due to real cane sugar

I want to know constantly overlooked ketchup facts or mainly everyday ketchup scenes that we see on real life. Some examples are, the fact that they never give enough ketchup sachets when we order food, or they put a cheap ketchup on a Heinz bottle just to make it look premium etc. 

This is really, really good ketchup. If I lived in Wisconsin it would be all I’d buy.
