News 26.17 Patch Preview

"Patch 26.17 Preview!

This patch is mostly a stabilization patch after observing the adjustments made on 26.16.

Mages bot overall have lost some amount of winrate across the board, but not a huge amount, which is roughly about the impact we're looking for.

So far, we're seeing good skews on Poppy and Camille support with support nerfed and Top skews playing out well (in particular).

We're still monitoring the impact of Hail of Blades on champions more broadly, eg. Yi, Trynd, Shaco, etc. Stormrazor"

"Outside of Stormrazor Jhin, it doesn't have a large user base and we think it could have more power overall to broaden the user pool"

Sundered Sky

"Directionally, Sundered Sky and AP Jungle changes have been good, but magnitude is still off

We're putting another small-moderate nerf in for this patch and hoping to see more movement on AP jungles and Sundered Sky dominance in higher levels of play"

I mean it did get a proper nerf last patch it's just they were cold feet on going all the way because they got backlash at first.

Hopefully they give it a good smack this time since I'm sick of seeing every bruiser and playing every bruiser just to find 90% of them rush the damn item.

Like really if they want to give it a good nerf that doesn't kill the item is just lower the heal again and then make it scale back up with levels, that way it's not so good as a rush but still viable 3-4+ items onward.

Sundered Sky is meant to be a rush item, putting it's power behind a level gating is counter to its design. It's well-rounded and gives a little bit of everything, damage, raw hp, healing, a damage proc, so it's clearly intended to be an early purchase like many items with that sort of statline (Triforce, Stride, Eclipse and Yun Tal all are this kind of item for comparison). It doesn't work as a third or fourth purchase because by that point champions are either buying multiplicative power (Rabadon's, IE, Endless Hunger, Overlord's) or teamfight durability (Sterak's, GA, Zhonya's, Jak). Sundered is the type of item where if it doesn't get bought first it doesn't get bought at all, I really think the best comparison is Triforce. If your champ is going to buy Tri, you buy it first in 95% of cases. Very few champions consider a third item Triforce, and Sundered should be the same way. IMO they just need to increase its price, similar to Triforce. If it's going to be this perfect, well-rounded first buy you should pay for it. Make it 3450 or somewhere in that neighborhood, but leave the stats and passive mostly untouched, is what I'd do.

It's item design is easily something that can be tweaked into a scaling item, if the heal scales good enough it can live next to defensive items such as steraks.

Overall saying a price increase is all it needs is silly, a price increase is how you either don't nerf the item enough or kill the item fully.

Like, yeah, you can easily change it into a scaling item, but doing so misses the point. It fills a genuine niche in the item system as is, as a first item purchase for skirmishers and AD bruisers who want AD and HP but don't value AS. It was explicitly created as a replacement for Goredrinker and to fill that hole as a first purchase, if you change it to be a scaling item you leave Aatrox, Vi, Xin, etc. homeless with no good first buys, an issue a lot of these champions had in the mythic item era. Tl;dr: Items are created with a purpose and to fill a hole, actually, and changing an items fundamental design like you suggest means leaving a hole in itemization that the previous version was intended to fill.

I think it was introduced to replace divine sunderer but I agree with your point.

Wasn't anything Todo with divine sunderer, riot end step talked about how even if they have similar names, they weren't designed as a replacement/rework of divine.

The item was designed for a different purpose and niche, just it took a name from a different failed concept item since it's development name was really lack luster.

It seems to have the same play pattern of play for proc, get a solid heal in short trade and has all the stats you want. Goredrinker was just… a different beast, I don’t really see how Sundered Sky fits that niche

i dont think its great design if the rush item by primarily jungle brusier characters is really expensive i think that would feel quite awful and a lot of champs would probably just go eclispe and build more one shotty if thats the case

And people wonder why we don't see any ap jungler in competitive. That's why.

The thing is, pretty sure Wu gets way more out of DD now. This is a nice push to an item that I have terrorized the rift with every time I build it.

They could also buff other first/second item options for AD fighters if the class ends up too weak

We, in fact, don't need to keep buffing bruiser items 24/7.

Cleaver got buffed. Eclipse got buffed. Sterak's got buffed.

Death's Dance is Hitler. Endless Hunger is stupidly good.

It's not like Shojin is weak either.

I was thinking of Ravenous, Stridebreaker or Hexplate. But I don't think buffs will be necessary either hence the "if"

True but the other options are already strong I would say, if they got buffs it would effectively just be the same situation but different item.

Overall I doubt ad fighters would end up weak from it, they would just have to adapt there builds instead which might take a few patches of lower winrates as people autopilot the old stuff.
