I recently got the motorwinder M and i like the feeling in hand it gives. It makes the camera a little heavier and the grip on it feels pretty nice to not as nice as the normal black M grip. But still nice and give the added functionality makes the camera a lil more versatile. What are your experiences with it ?

I found this at a local shop for basically the same price as any other used Q2 and had to jump on it. It's essentially in new condition save for a slight mark on the baseplate from having a tripod plate attached too aggressively. My Q2M was my first digital Leica and I adore that camera, so the idea of having a second one for color photography was quite appealing. I was a little worried it would be too flashy, but it tows the line incredibly well in person, being understated from a distance and becoming more and more beautiful the closer you get to it. Never thought I'd have a camera that felt like a work of art, but here I am. Excited to take it out later this week. Fits in nicely with my little collection.

It is kinda strange because before getting the digital M, I was shooting a lot of film. Sometimes multiple rolls a day, and developed and scanned everything myself. Had various film cameras from point and shoots to SLRs. Then I just “thought” about giving an old digital M a try since I already tried an M3 and immediately fell in love with it. Right after, I saw a listing on the local second hand shop and scored a beautiful Leica MP 240 for 1400 USD. Quite a steal! Long story short, I have been less and leas hesitant to shoot film and all the film I been stacking up in the fridge is not being used. It might all sound like all a normal thing but somehow the digital M made me SATISFIED. It was like shooting film with everything except the development. I am enjoying shooting with my digital body but something deep down feels off, I don’t know why I am not as hyped to shoot film as before. The other day, I loaded a film and went out to shoot but didn’t even get to frame 15.

Have you had any experience like this? How do you balance out between shooting film and digital? I love to continue shooting film too but for now, I don’t seem to have the urge.

Hey folks long time lurker. I made the plunge and finally got my first Leica. An M2 with 35/3.5 Summaron and 90/4 Elmar. Recently took it with me on a trip to New Mexico. Here are some of the very first shots I took with it.

This is my first true rangefinder experience and it’s been interesting learning a new way of making images. Hope you enjoy!

A Leica III f black paint (upgraded) I bought was stolen out of my mailbox in Zurich Kreis 4 on August 28, 2026 — the courier delivered it, and I found the box left empty nearby in the evening. low serial number finishing with 0.

If anyone sees this camera listed or in a shop I'd really appreciate a heads-up. Even a screenshot of the listing helps.

Before you tell me that I should have sent it to recuperate in the post office, yes I should have, thought the app wasn't working for this parcel and I never had had a stolen package untill now. I am really annoyed by this. There is a private security camera close by but the restaurant is not communicating to help me.
I'm bummed because it was in good condition with the chrome settings and 50mm.

After using my X1 almost daily for about a year, it’s probably become my favorite compact camera. The easiest way I can describe it is as a 36mm Ricoh GR with fantastic build quality and image output comparable to the M8.

It’s chunkier than a GR, but still pocketable, and the files from the APS-C sensor and 24mm Elmarit are superb.

A few things I’ve learned using it every day:

Remove the front lens ring. It makes the camera feel noticeably smaller and cleaner and really helps with pocketability.

Set up snap-focus-style profiles. In manual focus, set a distance, hold the Delete/Focus button to lock it, then save it to a User Profile.

f/8 is my default. f/5.6 if I want a little separation, f/11 if I want maximum depth of field. Once the focus distance is locked, the camera becomes incredibly simple: choose the profile, point, shoot.

That setup is what mad me love the X1. It feels much closer to using a GR or an old premium film compact than a modern autofocus camera. You get a roughly 36mm field of view, great image quality, great glass, physical controls, excellent build quality, and something small enough to carry in your pocket.

It’s not replacing an M or a Q for me. It just fills a completely different role, and honestly, I think if you already like Leica, the X1 or X2 is one of the most underrated cameras you can add to the kit.

I currently have an M8 coming in the mail and now I’m looking for a good portable lens for it. I’ dead set on a 28mm (for the ~35mm focal length). Is something like the Voigtländer 28mm f/2.8 Color Skoppar okay with it or should I sacrifice some portability for the Voigtländer 28mm f/2 Ultron? Since i heard the M8 had bad low light performance i feel like i’d be restricting it more by using the f/2.8 lens over the f/2. But I do want to maximize portability. Has anyone have experience with the Voigtländer 28mm f/2.8 Color Skoppar or even the Elmarit on the M8.

Friends, help me understand how big of a problem this is. I bought a Leica APO Summicron-M 75mm and found oil on the aperture blades. What should I do? I'm afraid it will fog up the lenses or get on the lens.

I noticed that a dot appears on the same spot starting from f4 upwards. I inspected the glass but i don't know why this appears. could be a dust on sensor or the glass is damaged?

I just picked up the 50 Summilux Classic (black paint) a few days ago. I think this is the best lens I've tried from Leica.

For background, I've owned everything from a 28 Summicron to a 35 Summilux to a 50 Summilux FLE, and I'm very much a one lens, one camera per location kind of shooter. I've been shooting exclusively with a 28mm for the past year. I'm lucky to be in a city with a Leica store nearby, so I've been able to use multiple focal lengths over extended periods.

About the lens.. the magic is in the way the focus falloff works and the amount of glow it produces. Shots look very dreamy, and it might not be for everyone. It's also nothing like a 50 Summilux FLE, or dare I say the Noctilux. Glow wise, it's nothing like the 35mm Summilux Steel Rim either. It's a very different character for a lens.

This is where it gets confusing, and I can't prove it, but I've had the chance to use the silver version of this lens, and the black version renders differently than the silver. I can't say whether there are small production variations even within the same line, but it is noticeable.

I’ve been looking at a second lens and while I’ve been craving a character lens I realized that what I really need is a new focal length that lets me take photos of my kids without being so up close that it distracts them from their activity. It results in photos that are posed versus candid.

Any other parents who went through a similar situation? Have you ended up with longer focal lengths to let you observe more?

I was originally thinking of getting a vintage 50mm but now thinking whether 75 is better for these situations.

Just got myself a beautiful M-P 240 from 2017 and I’m in absolute awe, I use to have a M9 as digital m body and I missed it dearly so I had to get something else and this came in at the right time, I’m in love with colors from this sensor as well ( maybe slightly more clinical then the predecessor with cdc sensor ), I also attached some photos taken with this tiny beast

Over the next few days, I’ll be traveling to Japan, and I’d like to buy a few cameras since I’ve sold almost all of my previous gear.

My main use will be street photography, travel, and documenting my family and lifestyle. My favorite focal lengths are 35mm and 28mm. I usually shoot about 65% of the time with 35mm and 35% with 28mm.

I typically shoot around 70% digital and 30% film.
At the moment, I only have a Ricoh GR IV, which is my favorite camera, as well as Lumix gear for commercial work.

I owned a Leica M6 years ago and absolutely loved the experience. I regretted selling it. However, I also found it difficult to focus with the 28mm because I sometimes wear glasses and can’t see the entire set of framelines.

My possible combinations would be:

1. Leica M11 + Minolta CLE. I’m considering this because the Minolta is very small and lightweight, and it has a 0.58x viewfinder. I know it’s optimized for 40mm, but I wouldn’t mind adding that lens to my kit since it’s very close to 35mm.

2. Leica M11 + Leica M2.

3. Leica Q3 + Leica M6 (It would be awesome to have 2 Leica and de 28mm summilux, but it’s not my main focal length)

Leica M6 and M11 is not an option because that would be really expensive.

Was subject to a burglary whilst on holiday recently… Strange that it’s a silver lining but the only thing stolen from this drawer was the Submariner and a vintage Datejust. (Was travelling with my SL2) I think the batteries were missing too actually😕

Hey all! I'm looking for a small 35mm lens, I shoot film and I am new to Leica and would love the help of the community :)

Here's what I'm looking for:
- something small and compact
- hopefully something that is more of a character lens as I'm not really a fan of super sharp clinical lenses so definitely something that renders softly. Top of my head, the lens I can think of as an example is the Fujifilm XF 35mm F1.4. I just love how this lens renders! (I also shoot Fuji!)
- I like to shoot wide so f1.4, and sometimes f2 but I don't think this is a deal breaker
- I do want something cheap but it will depend lol, if it's a good lens and hits what I'm looking for then I really don't mind paying $600 but hopefully not $1000+

I've researched a few lenses and so far I am looking at Artizlab Classic 35mm F1.4 - it's small, also a character lens, and is not too expensive. However I keep seeing mixed reviews online. Some people say they don't like how it renders. But YouTube reviewers seem to like it, I don't know if they were just paid to say that.

But I do have other lenses that I'm also considering:
- Voigtlander Ultron 35mm f/2 Aspherical VM
- Voigtländer Nokton 35mm f/1.4 II MC
- Voigtlander Color-Skopar 35mm f/2.5 PII
New to Voigtlanders I'm really not sure what the differences are with these 3 lenses lol I'm still researching that! But I really want to hear the community's thoughts first.

I would love to know your thoughts on the options of lenses that I'm looking at right now, but I also welcome new suggestions and recommendations! Thank you so much!

I’ve been shooting the Q2 for about a year now, and I’m really enjoying the ease and simplicity of the camera. But the caveat of shooting with a fixed wide focal length is that you’re going to miss shooting at longer focal lengths. Maybe that’s why a lot of Q 28 users sell theirs, only to miss it after shooting with longer focal lengths and eventually buy it again.

The problem is, once you get used to Leica, you want a longer Leica solution lens—not just any other camera. The solution I see most people go with is adapting lenses to older models or GFX
I was planning to add a secondary camera where I can shoot 50mm (Summilux) and 85mm (Sigma—how bad is the autofocus?). I was considering the SL2-S, but then I stumbled upon the original SL 601.

Just wondering, what would you choose and why? Is the original SL 601 still reliable in 2026? I’m a little hesitant because I’ve had bad experiences with older digital Ms, so I’m wondering how well a 2015 model will hold up.
I shoot events and weddings, but I’m not a trigger-happy shooter. I also shoot personal projects. Video would be a plus, but it’s not required.
