This may be an incredibly newbie question but I cannot get libre office to do what I need.

I have a data set that needs a number to increment every n rows. The fill handle does not help me here neither do any of the Sheet > Fill Cell options.

Visually speaking lets say its every 5 columns it will look like this;

1,1,1,1,1,2,2,2,2,2,3,3,3,3,3,4,4,4,4,4,5,5,5,5,5,...,n,n,n,n,n

This feels super simple but it just doesn't behave in any way i expect, I even tried expanding the following using the fill handle;

a) 1,1,2,2
b) 1,1,2,2,3,3

But the output is this;

a) 1,1,2,2,2,2,3,3,3,3,4,4,4,4,5,5,5,5...n,n,n,n
b) 1,1,2,2,3,3,2,2,3,3,4,4,3,3,4,4,5,5,4,4...?,?,?,?

These outputs are incredibly unexpected, I dont think Im trying to do anything super specific and unique here. But im completely out of ideas on how to search this, I hope its okay I come here for help.

I'm very happy with the colors I selected for my custom theme, but I have one major issue- The blinking "I" (the text insertion point aka I-beam pointer) appears nearly invisible. I'd like to change its color in my theme, but I can't seem to find a customization option for it.

All edits to the Theme were done by going Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Appearance and using the Customizations dropdown.

Where is the customization option for the text insertion point?

I have unchecked the delete spaces and tabs option, but it refuses to respect this. What else do I have to do?

So I'm pretty new to the worl of Libre Office, and open source like Linux in general. I've traditionally used MS Word's spell check but that's gonna be left befind. When I isntalled the new operating system I chose Finnish as the main language. I need the spell check in Swedish too so I'm asking if I'm getting right: I went to Libre Office extensions and just searched from the search bar. Can I just download them and get started or do I need to like restart the computer?

I'm working on a writing project that runs on python, but I am planning it out first in writer.

There is an option at the start of the project which changes the text the project can have in several places throughout. Lets say as a simple example, I asked you at the start of the story if you liked apples, or pears better. Then for the rest of the story every mention of fruit is changed to either an apple, or a pear depending on what you chose.

I was using comments to store all of the 'alternate text' that happens if you choose the second option. So according to the example I wrote out everything according to apple, and where any changes would occur I would make a comment that said:

"Pears: "(alternative text here.)"

However, this way of doing it is going to be very annoying for my editor I fear!

Does anyone have any cleaner ideas of how I could plot out alternative text? Any way to toggle between two sets of text easily?

The process went smoothly but I had trouble uploading the pdf for paperback and hard cover. For a minute I was afraid I'd have to subscribe to Office and sift through for formatting errors. Luckily after some research I found opening the pdf in my browser and saving another copy solved the problem. Book is printed and looks great.

I recently switched from Windows 10 to Ubuntu, and after installing LibreOffice, I can't find the option to customize the toolbar color. I prefer to make the toolbar and border around the document dark gray, so I can type at night without going blind from everything being white. Switching to dark mode doesn't change the appearance of anything at all, and I can't find an option to specifically change the color of the toolbar. How am I supposed to change the color of the toolbar?

New presentation creates a blank doc. Creating a new slide within this blank doc does nothing. Producing from a template fails to produce a new file.

Any guidance to share? Thanks in advance.

Im quite distracted with these section titles, or whatever you call them. Is there a way to remove it like how it looks like on the demo UI upon activating the Ribbon UI (tabbed menu) from the settings? EDIT: Im using v26.8, freshly installed.

Some fractions appear as a single character in Writer (1/2, 1/4), while others don't (1/3).

I have changed the language for LO, ensured that it is the same language in the Autocorrect tools dialogue, and changed to that language for the mac as well. I set the Autocorrect character 10+ times, and exited out of LO. The replacement character function is enabled. The problem persists.

I'd like to have separate apps/icons for Write, Calc, Present, etc. instead of just one app/icon for the whole suite. This happened automatically on Unbuntu. I'm on Mac now and not sure how to do it.

Calc + base ok.

Writer and Impress; nothing happens, blank screen, I just get the time-glass and have to use right-click on taskbar to end program. Did a full uninstall, cleaned up the registry and all (chat gpt-style). Downloaded setup file again and still got full stop.

On the Writer help page 'Heading Numbering', one of the section headings inexplicably appears in Gujarati language ('તરીકે સંગ્રહ કરો' i.e. 'Save as') rather than in English as the rest of the document does.

EDIT: Not actually a bug. Per response below, the entire page is supposed to be in Gujarati and just hasn't been human translated yet. A Google search (in English) led me to that specific page in the first place ✔️

I have a Chinese text in Writer .odt that's written left to right, I'd like to make a right to left version. How do I change the order of the characters without rewriting the whole thing? Like, it currently says 123??? But I'd like it to say ???321

I've already gone to format > paragraph > alignment > properties > right to left, but all that did was shuffle all the punctuation to the left and reverse the arrow keys. The text itself is still aligned left to right, so it looks like ???123

ETA: Tried making a second document with right to left text to start and copy pasted into it and it preserved the text orientation>.<
