So my main boss approached me today and told me that all the managers from the area had a meeting and apparently I came up 😶 I guess it was good though lol. They all talked about how friendly and happy I am and I always make their mornings so much nicer when the stop through the drive thru ( almost like a secret shopper situation). So they gifted me this speaker. lol I would have preferred money but it’s nice to be recognized. The craziest part is my effort is actually minimal. I thought being nice and polite and friendly was part of the job description 😂🥰

I sent this text message to my general manager at 11pm last night and it is now 7:30pm but no one from the store has called about me missing my shift. Did he interpret this message as me quitting?

The title mostly explains it. My workplace has been crazy since the moment I started the job a month ago, and now that school is starting, I finally have a chance to quit. They only have a phone number, so I can’t really email them. Should I just MC quit and ghost???

Reg flags in a course of a month:
- The day I had my first interview, the shift manager warned me not to tell the GM that I have any other responsibilities besides school or that I want to advance my career.
- The day I had my second interview, I told them the day before that I couldn’t come in because my grandma had suddenly been hospitalized. The GM immediately responded with, “Okay, so how will that affect your work? How will you come in when it happens again? I hate that you even did that.”
- Managers would get mad at me for being sick, even when I gave them 4 hours’ notice. The next day I came in, and all the managers were already angry with me.
- I wasn’t trained on anything at all or given a tour of the kitchen, so I basically had to wing it in the front. I made a lot of mistakes, which ended up making both customers and coworkers upset with me.
- On my first day, everyone had already established that they hated the GM because of their public humiliation, yelling, and general grumpy attitude.
- I work curbside and can tolerate generally angry customers, but 99% of the time I’ve had to deal with people yelling at me because someone in the kitchen forgot food in their bag, didn’t listen to modifications, or took too long to make the food.
- The drive-thru just never seems to complete orders, so the parking lot gets ridiculously overcrowded, and I have to walk across the entire lot just to get to people’s cars.
- I don’t think I’ve seen any of my coworkers leave unless it’s at least 30 minutes after their scheduled shift ends.
- I would go my entire eight-hour shift without taking a break until the very end because of staff shortages, despite there being a high number of people coming in for interviews.
- I basically worked the entire front, including cleaning, register, curbside, and food delivery. That part was fine, but I would get yelled at to do curbside and was expected to immediately drop whatever I was doing even if I was like helping a customer.

Anyways yup. I can definitely handle angry customers and juggling multiple things at once. My coworkers and OTHER managers were cool but should I even call in????

I've seen this happen quite a few times (A fry/hashbrown being on the order screen for 10+ hours). I checked all the monitors to see if it was an issue there, but I didn't see anything. I was wondering what causes this to happen? Is it just a glitch?

Finally getting switched back to overnights but still getting the hang of things. I got a basic checklist from the gm on closing duties but hoping maybe y'all have a checklist that helps a bit more, or things I can potentially get evening shift to help with

My phone didn’t want to take a clearer picture

I’m posting here on my girlfriend’s behalf she technically was hired recently. After applying she was given a date and time to be at the store, showed up was told the manager wasn’t there and told to come back at a different time like 5-6hrs later which sucked as we had to wake up way earlier than usual for the interview originally, but whatever she did the interview and was accepted and given a date and time for orientation at a different location. So we just went to this was supposed to be 9 this morning we get there a bit early and the manager is not there they are at different locations so they will apparently reschedule. Is this common? Neither of us has ever experienced such unprofessionalism in a hiring process already thinking just to look at different jobs only applied here because of how close the location is to our house.

She was upset at me because while I was taking her order I was multitasking counting change and would often ask her to repeat herself. Usually customers don’t get angry at this because they understand that I’m just ensuring their order is placed correctly. She got frustrated on the speaker and yelled profanities at me. I argued back at her saying that she didn’t have to yell at me I’m just ensuring your order is made correctly. I gave her hella attitude too but I didn’t care in that moment because it was a morning shift and It was extremely busy. It’s hard to take disrespect most of the time from customers and maintain good professionalism. Sometimes I find it necessary to defend myself. But doing that fuels the fire. She yelled that she’s coming inside the store. Instead she drives to the first window and asks if I took her order. Boldly I say yes. I then said that she was being rude and I just wanted to take her order right because I was multitasking. She says “it’s crazy that you act all tough on the speaker but now that I’m in your face you acting all polite now”. I tell her that yelling is unnecessary and I’m not going to take her disrespect. She then opens her car door stands up and says “do something about it then if you’re gonna act all tough”.
I tell her if she gets close to me I’m calling the cops. She then gets back in her car, continues to curse at me and spits hard in my face INCLUDING GETTING IN MY MOUTH. She tried to speed off immediately but was blocked by a car at the second window receiving their food. Thank god. My GM was right there luckily and sent someone to track down the car to snap a photo of the plates. I have a panic attack and start gagging in the break room for like a minute. Unfortunately I had to calm myself to continue taking orders and charging cars while in tears because there wasn’t enough people to cover me. I feel disgusting and humiliated. Cops came eventually and this was my first time pressing charges on somebody. I’m not sure about the process or if I’m going to have to appear in court for this. I’ve definitely learned my lesson and will swallow it my pride and not engage with a future raging customer.

Or maybe it’s time to quit.

I finally did it. I finally quit this fuckass place. My disabilities were ignored for too long. I already had plans to go on leave for college, but I walked out before my scheduled last day. It feels so freeing. I hated working there. God I hope I never have to work at McHell again.

This is something that I wanted to post for months and only now am I finally doing it. About a month and a half ago to two months ago, we had our RGR. And we ended up three points short of a passing score, for cleanliness and customer service. So we have to do a retake.

They told us that this retake would take anywhere between three months in the future to nine months in the future. And they won’t tell us this time when they were going to come in, they’re just gonna show up for it. I am concerned about that because obviously, when they showed up for the RGR for the first time, they had a date that we would have to prepare for it. But if we failed, and we thought we were prepared for it, then I am scared on them just showing up and giving us a worse grade. and I don’t know what the consequences of an RGR is, but I doubt it will be anything good.

It’s not really a question, but I would just like advice and positivity if possible

Wondering if this is a big thing or just an issue with the local supplier for my store because as of a few weeks ago, our crispy patties are tiny, smaller than a mcchicken even when they were much bigger before.

Customers have been complaining and I kinda understand, paying $6 for an XL chicken nugget…

How often do yall wash em? I wash mine after every shift (hat and clothing) and was made aware by employees and even management that we apparently aren’t supposed to?

My hat does tend to fall apart after a few months (starting with the front brim) and management treats it like I’m asking for a raise everytime I ask, despite the fact I pay for said hats and have to wait months to actually get it (been waiting since June for two new hats which were allegadley docked off my paycheck, which is also sketchy as they refuse to tell me how much they cost)

I was told I should only be washing my hat ONCE a week and my clothing every 4 shifts… what?
Like my main worry is smell from sweat and just working in the store, and my hat is really bad for collecting sweat. But they said that atleast for the hats the smell should fade by the next day.
is this true for yall? I only got one hat and work 5-6/7 days a week so I can’t really test to see if it’s true.

Hi, I recently started working at a cafe, and it is really confusing. Not because of the drinks I have to remember, but because of the people, and also because I just can't seem to focus enough on the job. One time, I was walking in, and there were like 4 managers there. One talked to me, and I paused to talk to them cause I didn't wanna seem rude, and I got in trouble for standing around and talking. Another time, I was just doing orders, and the drinks kept getting changed, so I stood there with milk and a cup in my hand, watching the drink change. I got in trouble AGAIN for standing around. One time, I was done with the Iced latte, and I put it on the counter because I asked one of the managers there where they needed the latte, and they just pointed to the tray, so I put it in the tray. Another manager asked me if I had made the Iced drink yet, and I didn't know he was talking to me cause he wasn't looking at me or saying my name, and there were like 5 people around us. I'm pretty sure I pissed him off cause I didn't respond like 3 times until he said my name. And when I pointed to the tray, he told me off, saying that it should go to the drive-through tray instead. Another time, when it was like my 2nd day working there in the morning, they gave me the coffee beans and told me to refill the machine. I tried asking him how to do it, but he just walked away. So I just tried to figure it out myself. I mistakenly opened it by twisting the entire container, and the rest of the beans just fell, and I broke the machine for a couple of minutes. He was REAL pissed about that. I dont know if it's just me, or also a bit of him, cause I always seem to mess up more whenever he's training me.

It's been like 7 weeks with 2 shifts each week working at Cafe, and I got the drinks down already. I'm able to make them real quick and easy by myself at times when they leave me alone. Even when there's a bunch of orders on the screen, I still manage to complete them without a hitch. Even in my first few shifts in the mornings, the people I worked with were real chill and cool to work with. They always told me to make spares even when there's no order on the screen, cause it's bound to pile up. But recently they gave me afternoon shifts, and now I'm working with a lot of confusing people. The people I worked with in the mornings at the start? They're chill with me making spare shots cause of the rush; even when nothing is on screen, they tell me to always make spares. But the managers on my afternoon shift tell me NOT to make a spare. And to make ONE shot only, using ONE portafilter from the coffee machine, and ONE cup. I don't know what I'm supposed to do, man. I tried to multitask by making the shot with one hand while pouring the espresso into the base with the other hand, but I got in trouble for that because I was making the base before I made the shot. But what am I even supposed to do? I was doing both, weren't I? Was I supposed to put the one cup I'm allowed to use to the side while I put the portafilter in first and THEN make the base? There were like 5 orders on the screen. Someone, PLEASE tell me what I did wrong, cause I really don't understand. All he told me was that I'm making the base before the shot, even though I'm doing them at the same time. If I'm not pouring the shot onto the base, where else am I even supposed to put the shot that I JUST prepared?

Someone help me, man. I JUST got the Cafe job after asking for it for months, but the managers that train me in the cafe during shifts confuse me way too much. I was doing just fine in the kitchen, front counter, and drive-through. I'm alright working in cafe by myself too, but when one of the mangers are there to train me, I get all jumbled up, and mess up whatever I was doing. I don't wanna lose this role I JUST got.

Why do the milk in the cardboard containers have a significantly longer expiration date than the milk in the plastic containers?

The expiration date on the milk in the cardboard container says that we got today February 4th 2027. Meanwhile the milk in the plastic containers have a shelf life of about 2-3 weeks.

yeaa so im a newhire and idk the workplace just seems so toxic , they said i’ll be trained for like 2-3 months and i will always have a trainer following me around during my training but that just wasnt the case. im a very socially awkward/anxious person so i was already nervous before starting but after the first shift i js felt like maybe this job isnt for me its very rushing and i only felt like i was getting in the way, i mean not exactly i did prep the drinks well but i am really unhappy with our manager. she was way too rude for a newhire. i understand its a busy place so you dont rlly have time to teach me individually everytime but you can at least be nice when i mess something up. her way of speaking and words just werent nice at all and it might seem normal to her but on the long run i dont wanna work in a space like that yk.. i just felt so overwhelmed the whole day and broke down and cried like twice during my break and next time was infront of them😅 awkward but whatever so the other manager wanted me to come home think about it and give him a decision but yeah im pretty positive i wanna quit so what do i rlly tell him? i dont wanna call so i was thinking of simply texting but is there any process i genuinely do not wanna go there again so i dont want that 2 weeks notice process i just wanna completely quit thats all.
