Trade?

I'm 27 years old and a Mum of two in Gills. I've experience as a parent, Nanny, Babysitter, and Tutor. I'm currently training as a Teaching assistant too.

Money is tight and I need to learn to drive.

I'm looking for an exchange of services? A trade?

Drving lessons for childcare.

I'm DBS checked and on the update service (can provide references too) , and would like if the driver was too.

I'd be looking to trade two hours of childcare/babysitting/tutoring per hour of driving lessons.

The driver wouldn't need to be a professional instructor, but does need to be legally able to teach/insured.

Hopefully this isn't against the rules. If it unrealistic because of costs/insurance/rules, please let me know too.

Plumbers for small leak detection.

Can anyone recommend a good local domestic plumber that can help detect a very small water leak, that's potentially under concrete flooring? Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

The pride festival was disappointing this year

It's a shame I've missed yet another pride festival this year. This is either due to lack of money, working, or anxiety. But I wasn't paying £10 per person and admission fees. It was a closed off event, last year it was all open either stalls and that. While I'm upset there is always pride festivals next year 🌈

Looking for an Online PT?

Good morning Medway,

Medway — looking for people serious about losing weight, getting fitter or building muscle before Christmas

I’m opening up a limited number of spaces for online fitness/bodybuilding coaching in the run-up to Christmas.

Quick disclaimer because it’s Reddit this isn’t AI-generated routines and guidance. I’m a genuine local person with around 20 years of bodybuilding and weight-training experience, looking to take on a small number of people who actually want to make progress.

The important bit: I’m looking for people willing to commit.

You don’t need to be fit already. You don’t need a perfect diet. You definitely don’t need to live in the gym.

But you do need to be prepared to follow the plan, be honest with your check-ins, put the work in and give me something to work with. If adherence slips, we’ll figure out why and adjust — but if you’re looking for a magic fix without changing anything, this probably isn’t for you.

Whether your goal is fat loss, building muscle, getting stronger or simply getting back into decent shape, I’ll tailor everything around you.

You’ll get:
• Individual training programme
• Calories and macros set for your goal
• Realistic nutrition guidance
• Weekly check-ins and progress tracking
• Exercise/form checks via video
• Training and nutrition adjustments as you progress
• Regular support and accountability

This is a paid coaching service with a defined run up to Christmas — not a free challenge — and I’m deliberately keeping numbers limited.

In return for your commitment, you’ll get mine.
If you’re around Medway and genuinely ready to give it a proper go, send me a DM with a bit about yourself, your goal and what you’ve struggled with previously.

Happy to have a normal chat first. No hard sell.

Running tracks in or around Medway

I have done a few track sessions at the Medway sports centre in Gillingham but £8+ per session is pretty steep!

I wonder if anyone knows of any other places?

35M, Chatham/Medway, looking to make some new friends

Hey everyone, I’m 34, married and based in Medway and have been for 5 years. I’ve realised it would be good to widen my social circle and meet some new people locally.

I work in digital media and commute into London, but outside of work I’m into combat sports, especially MMA, boxing and kickboxing and also create content around combat sports. I’m also into live music (in a band), festivals, abit of gaming, travelling and finding decent places to eat or have a drink.

I’m also married, so I’m happy to meet other couples as well as people individually.

Ideally looking to meet people around Medway or nearby who are up for actually meeting in person once we’ve chatted a bit. Feel free to send me a message and tell me a bit about yourself.

Cheers!

Odd survey interaction on Best Street, Chatham

A few times when I've walked past the Post Office on Best Street Chatham, there has been a woman outside who looked like she was conducting a survey, politely asking people if she can ask them a question. I've always declined before, but I agreed today.

When I was standing next to her it became obvious that there wasn't a real survey. She had a clip board but it just had some paper with "Survey Work" written on it in felt tip pen. Similarly she had a lanyard but where the ID card should be there was just a sticky label with something like "Survey Lady" handwritten on it.

All she did was ask me how I would describe Best Street. After I answered a few words she said "Ok, thank you" and that was it. I did notice she was doing something with her phone, but could have just been checking the time or something.

Has anyone else encountered her and know what the situation is?

It feels like it was an attempted scam but I'm not sure what the angle was. She didn't ask any personal details and I've not had anything pickpocketed. Maybe she was trying to use her phone to surreptitiously take a contactless payment?

Any chess clubs in Medway? Do they accept adult beginners? Also, what's the membership cost like?

Just started learning chess and would like to start playing with the enthusiasts nearby.

Medway Urban VLR Transit System Proposal

Thumbnail

As Medway continues to grow, becoming (what feels like) one merged city, the question of the productivity of its public transport must be drawn into question.

Many areas in the Medway towns are becoming highly developed, from Strood Waterfront, Rochester Waterfront, Chatham Centre, and Gillingham Waterfront. With a population of just under 300,000 residents, we must consider modernising and improving infrastructure - a key feature of this being public transit.

Urban VLR (Very Light Rail) is being developed in Coventry, as a much cheaper alternative to Trams. Track costs £10million per KM to lay, and would allow multiple bus routes to be decommissioned.

As we move into the future, and Medway continues to grow (I mean, have you seen the planned high-rises in Gillingham!) it is important to consider how to modernise our city, and make it as Liveable as possible.

This VLR system includes many important interchanges for travellers, connecting our towns effectively, and importantly, cleanly!
