For background, I know near nothing about cars. I’m a college student who’s trying to find something both cool + relatively reliable + cheap. I’m not really that interested in a project car, just want to not look like an average bum on the road with a decent car.

Found this listing on Facebook marketplace. Worth? This is the description:

Runs and drives

NEED GONE ASAP

Recent upgrades done
120k service (timing, water pump, belts, etc)
Pioneer CarPlay
3sx performance Motor Mounts
Fuel pump Hotwire 3sx
New 3sx exhaust
Mishimoto fan shroud
Mishimoto lightweight radiator
New IAC
FRESH PAINT JOB!!!
New perfoy alternator
New performance slotted/drilled rotors and brakes
Lightweight 3sx harmonic balancer
New battery
New tires

Things that still need work:
Suspension front end needs love
Put new AC compressor in but came faulty out of factory. Still have original ac compressor in the back to swap.

New Transmission or Part out?

Hello everyone. I have a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ES with 147,000 miles on it. It’s currently at the shop and I was told I need a new transmission. It has the CVT in it. It has no other mechanical issues besides the transmission. My wife and I literally just paid it off two weeks ago and can’t afford the $4400 (at the cheapest) that was quoted to us for a used transmission. We both have very good credit but aren’t particularly happy to have another new payment. Should we just take out a loan to pay for the transmission or should we try to part it out and use that money for a different used vehicle? Please any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance!

2000 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE GT. Turn signals , hazards , key in ignition chime working intermittently

In a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, the turn signals and key-in-ignition reminder are not controlled by standard plug-in relays; instead, they are integrated into the interior ETACS-ECU (Electronic Time and Alarm Control System) module located directly on the back/rear side of the interior fuse box under the driver's side dashboard……. Need confirmation as to how true this is…. Reason i ask is because my turn signals , hazards , and key in ignition chime work intermittently….. Thanks in advance

What’s good all. Was taking the alternator out of my 97 Challanger and this snapped. Thinking it goes to the battery. Do I have to replace the full thing or get a washer with something to crimp the cables onto? Any advice is much appreciated

Gearbox swap, F5M22 to KM200

I have just gotten a replacement gearbox for my 92 mitsubishi lancer, Originally it has a hydraulic F5m22 (with the updated internals) i plan to rebuild this and put it back into the car, bur finding bearings, syncros and has been difficult.

So for the time being I have just gotten a replacment cable KM200 gearbox to be able to drive it while i rebuild the original gearbox.

I am going to swap the clutch fork from my hydro gearbox to the cable one to convert it.

I know the F5M22 uses taper roller bearings and i think the KM200 uses ball bearings, so i wouldn't be able to swap the bellhousing's right?

I cant swap the gear set from the KM200 into the F5M22 due to the different internal shaft sizes.

Ive gotten the axles and axle cups for the KM200 gearbox. But didnt get the flywheel.

Will my starter motor still bolt up and still be able to start the car?

Is there anything else I need to look out for while I am doing this swap?

How reliable are 4A91 (1.5 109HP) and 4A92 (1.6 117HP) Lancer engines?

I've always loved the look of the Lancer, and there are a couple of nice ones for sale in my area. Initially i was looking at the diesels, as they are the most numerous. However i decided i dont want to deal with the DPF, so my other options are the 1.5 and 1.6 petrol engines. Does anybody have any experience with these engines, do they have any major issues? They are both chain driven, so how durable is the chain? Also does the MIVEC system cause any problems?

2019 Outlander Phev

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just acquired a used 2019 outlander, there is a flapping sound coming from both front and rear part of the car when the speed reach up to 80 kph, didn’t notice on the test drive because it was conducted on a speed limit road, when running below the said speed the car seems so normal. Anyone had encountered this issue? Suspecting a mis aligned tires or bad rubber bushings.

Does the 2.0 DI-D (the Volkswagen BWC engine) in the Lancer have a balance shaft?

I read somewhere that the BWC engine in the Lancer is a mix of a BKD block/head and BMN exhaust manifold. Now as far as i know the BKD doesnt have a balance shaft (and thus doesnt have issues with the oil pump), but i cant find anything about the BWC. Does anybody know if it has one?

99 Mitsubishi legnum vr4 manual?

im looking to convert my auto vr4 legnum to manual. I'd like to keep the AWD as I enjoy it alot.

It has the AYC system too. although I'm not fussed if I lose it. I'm aiming for around 450 - 550hp on the 6a13tt it has in it.

im just wondering which gearbox would be best and the easiest to find in Australia. I also want something that can hold some abuse.

if theres any other information I need then ask away

(:

Hi everyone, I need some help getting the original MMCS screen to work in my car.

My car is a 2016 Lancer EX 1.6L (4A92 engine)—a very popular model here in Iraq. It came stock with the basic factory radio, and I really want to upgrade it to the OEM MMCS unit because I prefer keeping the car in an OEM+ style.
The issue is with my car's factory wiring harness. It has the 20-pin connector and the 18-pin connector, but the 18-pin plug only has the AUX wires pinned into it. It is missing the IE-BUS (+) and IE-BUS (-) lines entirely.
For the past two months, I've tried everything to get the screen to power up and function properly, but without success. I've searched all over YouTube, Google, and various Lancer forums without finding a clear solution for this specific harness setup.
If anyone has successfully wired an MMCS unit using this exact factory harness or knows how to bypass/wire the missing IE-BUS lines, any guidance or pinout diagrams would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Mitsubishi won their first game in this year's Intercity tournament, against Honda 4-3!

I was there to watch and support the team, it was a very tough game, with a in incredibly home run to start. Honda catching up halfway wasn't something we're expecting since they didn't play well in the first half.

I'm pretty sure I remember all the cheering chants now, there's so much passion from the squad and everyone coming to watch.

Our next game will be Tuesday 10am, against Ooji (to whom we lost to in the finals last year), if you are near Tokyo Dome and have the time, go watch, you'll even get a free towel.

Here's some highlights.

And pictures of the cheer squad.

08 Lancer ES AUX

Hello, so I found out that my radio has an aux mode but I'm not entirely sure how to make use of it, there are no AUX inputs visible but I am aware I can remove my radio and add an AUX thing to the back of it but I'm wondering if there are maybe alternatives as my phone does not have an audio jack, it's a pixel 10, so the only way my phone can transmit music is via Bluetooth, thus I'm not entirely sure where to go from there

Towing with an RVR

Post image

Spotted this Mitsu RVR towing a small trailer today. I had wanted to tow a small trailer but the dealer said Mitsus are not capable of towing. Am I correct that you're not supposed to use them for towing because of the transmission? What does it do to the transmission?

The error that many people have, but runs for years

P0420. I did many research and by the book, it's the CAT, but not always, could be Oxygen Sensors or others. Many have no performance issues so it's left alone. Some put spacer on the downstream oxygen sensor. I tried an OBD scanner but it only measures voltage, the 2nd one being the other type where it's 2.3+ volts, so not helpful. The temp right before the CAT is around 360-400 while after is 380-420. I believe it should be about 100 difference. What's more likely? Replace the downstream since it's the easiest (and should be a higher temp)? Or since it's almost the same, then it is more likely the CAT? But if there is no performance issue, even if it's the CAT, then can it be left alone for a while?

Issue with key fob, wondering if it's the battery?

Hi y'all. I have a 2024 Mitsubishi outlander that I've had for almost a year now and I'm the second owner (it had been used as a fleet car before I bought it from Carvana).

On Wednesday morning when I went out to leave for work for the day my key fob would not unlock the car. The red light on the fob lit up but it wouldn't unlock. So I had to use the key to manually unlock my driver's door-which proceeded to set off my alarm that I couldn't turn off until I started the car. I figured then maybe the battery was starting to go-but then the rest of the day and up until today, Saturday, the fob has been working fine like nothing is wrong. I've been able to lock and unlock and what not.

This morning however, the same thing as before- leaving for work-key fob wouldn't unlock, I had to use the key to unlock the door, the alarm went off until I got the car started.

So should I assume this is a battery issue? Something else? Also why the hell is my alarm going off when I use the actual key to unlock the car door?

Is the battery in the fob easy to replace or am I going to have to take it to a dealer and see if they can help me? In the past when I had a van it was pretty easy to replace the battery but I haven't looked too closely at this key yet to see if this is going to be a pain in the ass or not.

TL;Dr: key fob is working inconsistently, need to know if we think it's the battery and also why my alarm goes off on the car when I use the key to unlock it.

TIA.
