Could it maybe be possible that they’re both bad???

DLSS 5 has as much of a 'fan edit' potential as Reshades, ENBs and other mods.

Not for those of us still rocking Windows 10

Edit: lol why are you all so salty that people using older hardware exist? I’d have to rebuild my computer to upgrade and that ain’t happening any time soon.

Just update to Windows 11. Both suck, Windows 11 might suck a tiny bit more, but it’s close.

There’s like 0 practical differences, it’s 99% visuals.

I’d need an entirely new motherboard, I’m not about to rebuild my whole computer so I can use auto-HDR 🤷🏻‍♂️

As far as I know, Windows doesn’t really care what motherboard you have, unless it’s ancient, but even then you can still easily bypass the restriction.

Why would you need a new mobo for Windows 11?

u/ViolinistJust6425 14h ago

Likely due to missing tpm 2.0 prereq.

1

u/mmrtson 13h ago

You can just force the update either way, no?

1

u/ViolinistJust6425 10h ago

I'm sure there are workarounds because I have seen win11 running on systems which are certainly missing tpm. But by default the win compatibility wizard will say your system is not win11 ready and won't allow you to upgrade. So if you are an average Joe, or you don't want to work around this in some unofficial way, then it is enough to prevent the upgrade.

What is TPM 2.0?

Intel has this integrated into their cpus since 8th gen. But any previous generation misses it. By now this is less of a problem, but in 2021, at the original release of win11, the supported generations were really just the past few generations.

I'll stick with Windows 10 till they finally add vertical taskbar.

Coming in the next update. It's already in the insider builds.

I use Windhawk on my laptop with Windows 11. Tried the vertical taskbar mod but it's unpolished.

I did, and then I just switched to CachyOS. I don't even dual boot anymore.

Whenever I hear about Windows 11, it's always been about the AI bloat, ads, and all that built into the system.

I'd rather just use Windows 10, it's supported for at least another year.

I don't know if it's because I have Pro, but it was pretty easy to disable/uninstall all the AI, Edge and OneDrive stuff and it never came back, unlike in Windows 10.

Windows 11 has mostly the same bloat Windows 10 has. You can uninstall copilot or just not use it, it’s mostly a problem with laptops because Microsoft started paying laptop brands to add a Copilot button.

Look up Rufus. You don't need to rebuild your computer to update.

If your rig can run windows 10 it can run 11.

2

u/TheMilkKing 12h ago

Microsoft wouldn’t let me and I don’t care enough to use the workarounds.
