Our friend works at a local natural grocery and also takes care of our garden while we are away. They offered to feature our peppers! This is our first year growing and we couldn't be more proud.

When should I pick this dude?

Should I let it go red on the plant? I’m new to gardening and last harvest almost all my peppers got moldy before they turned red on the plant. Do I let them fully ripen then pick or pick now and let ripen indoors? Any advice welcome!
Edit to add: this is a red bell pepper btw

What’s happening to my dad’s peppers?

Hi, folks. I started my own garden this year so I’m a newb. My dad is growing a bunch of veggies on his porch in pots and his porch is a beautiful oasis….. but what in the world is happening to some of his peppers? It’s happening to 2-3 plants which have been great producers so far. I believe they are all just sweet peppers.

Any idea why my bell peppers are growing shaped like this? Pics are of a California Wonder bell and a Black Beauty purple bell. The CW is producing late but the purple bell was putting out normal shape and size until recently. They’re planted next to other peppers, but I thought cross pollination would only affect seeds? Any knowledge is appreciated!

Cut them in half instead of having it more of a cup to eat. Makes some additional portions as well.

I MEANT THE SPICIEST JALAPEÑO

My first whole year season just finally ripen. It was green with some white corking

I cut it up and me and my dad both had a piece to try it and genuinely I have never had a spicier pepper

My dad absolutely loves spicy food, and he was affected by this jalapeño

It tasted great and had lots of seeds, but oh my goodness it was spicy…. Any idea why?

Lots of new blossoms and tiny peppers! Do you think there is time enough to mature before the chill sets in? [Zone 5 Southern Wisconsin]

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with my cousin’s jalapeño plant? All of the peppers are like this, but it’s still growing well.

I picked these this weekend and the upper right one is a totally different shape. What gives? Was on the same plant as the others.

Uh oh. Do I have pepper weevils or pepper maggots? Some of my shishitos have holes!

When I harvested my shishito on Friday, I saw one pepper that had a hole near the top of it so I tossed it. Today, I picked another 12 or 13 peppers, and I noticed that three of them had similar holes.

I'm not sure at this point what I should do. All of my peppers this year have been productive machines and I currently have, in separate containers, two jalapeno plants, one Serrano plant, a bell pepper plant, poblano plant and a shishito. The shishito is on the far right of the overview photo.

Tips? Ideas?

Edit: location is Northwest Iowa. Sorry I definitely should have included that.

Plant ID please!

This random pepper plant started growing in our yard and now we have hundreds of tiny little peppers. Can someone please help us identify what kind of peppers these are? (Finger for size)

They refuse to get any bigger than this, turn dark green/red, then fall off the plant

Is my twin sprout saveable?

Post image

Planted some germinated red hot chili pepper sprouts in 1/2 inch of soil. The sprout I was most excited about was this one that had two plants come from one seed. I go on a 3 day vacation and come back to this. I may have overwatered them with the spray bottle so I opened the vents in the seed starting box thing to let the vapor out. But I want to know if there's more I can do to help this twin pepper survive.

Two French espelette plants, first harvest. Expect a similar amount from a second harvest. Already drying them to make powder.

Can’t figure out what these are

My grandparents gave us a pepper plant starter but it didn’t have the plant name on it. I’ve just harvested these after not knowing when they’d be ripe and I just don’t know what they are.
I also don’t know if the purple is normal?? I had no idea when they were ripe or not.

Question- Salvage or Toss?

Hi there! I have a question for those of you who ferment peppers…

I made a rookie mistake and forgot to submerge my peppers.

The top layer grew what appears to be mold.

I removed the mold and the peppers with mold on them.

Is it a keep, or toss the whole batch? (See picture)

Need Help Identifying a Few Peppers

Post image
3 Upvotes

I got a nice gift from my in-laws! I want to make some sauce but need help identifying some of the peppers.

The ones I’m not sure of are the yellow (scotch bonnet?), 3 red (scorpion?), orange (ghost?).

Is it possible some of the orange are the same as the red?

Any good combinations I should try?

Thanks in advance!
