I had to edit the scan from the app a bit to match the original so I included a shot of it too.

Question Any benefit of vintage over modern?

Upvotes

I’d like to buy a Polaroid camera, specifically the SX-70 which as I understand it is the only camera that actually uses glass for the optics? I was also thinking of getting an Impulse model because I really like the look.

I was wondering if there’s any benefit of choosing the vintage cameras over the modern ones beyond rarity? Do they take better photos? Do they have better functionality? I’ve read over the stuff Polaroid has on their website but I can’t really compare the vintage models to the new ones beyond film type (I know the I-type makes for cheaper long term).

Would love any comments thank you!

Question Troubleshooting the SX-70R PCB fill flash with the Mint Flashbar 2

Examples 1, 2, 3, 4

Hi there, I've used my SX-70R to great effect, and the exposure without flash is on point, but I have trouble getting consistent flash results, only with the Mint Flashbar 2. The film is a bit old (09/25), but it seems okay all things considered. Above are 4 photos; here are the scenarios, almost all on the same day and temperature:

  1. In the shade with the fill flash, great result.
  2. Not in the shade.
  3. Not in the shade again; I thought I had the wrong setting on the flashbar, so I retook it just in case.
  4. Next day but same time of day and weather. No flash; all the shadows are crushed.

So my question is, do I need to judge when it's too bright for fill flash and not use the flash for pictures 2 and 3? When should I use the flash? Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Advice I got this SX-70 recently and the door won't shut. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong with it and how I can fix it?
