In Europe they would be conservatives. Not lite versions, not far right. But absolutely conservatives and on this specific policy universal healthcare not even the far right campaign against it.

I mean, per the above comment you just replied to, not even the EU's far right parties, who also try to play to populist sentiments, go against universal healthcare.

For example, there's parties like the Sweden Democrats who are a hardline anti-immigration, "traditional values" and nationalist party that's now the 2nd largest in Sweden, but also want to preserve not just universal healthcare but the welfare state as a whole, along with having a "mixed-market economy".

So really, repealing universal healthcare is just anathema in Europe and really any country it's been implemented in, because once people have it, they don't ever want to lose it, especially not after hearing the increasingly horrific stories coming out of our healthcare "system", aka enriching companies that literally profit off of denying us care our doctors think we need, that's enraged people to the point someone gunned down one of their CEOs.

Very few actively campaign against some form of free state managed healthcare services. They might want to get rid of it but they know it’s a vote loser. So they will focus on side issues not directly the model.

American politicians must see this in other countries and realize that as soon as it's implemented neither side of the electorate will ever let it go, so even the people who should be voting for it will fight to keep it in the box as long as possible.

Honestly the middle has been pushed so far right, that even liberals feel like Republicans who just happen to not be racists. If you aren't a progressive at this point, then you're beyond saving. When every report says universal health care would save people AND the government money, and you are still against it, it means you want the economy to fail, and people to die.
