Watching Jon Stewart interviewing Fetterman and hearing Fetterman say that the reason they’re losing is because of the progressive wing was wild. I’m not someone who is super far left, in fact I consider myself to be somewhat moderate (still very left leaning) in that there are policies on the far far left side of the spectrum I don’t agree with an I don’t agree with 90% of anything right of center. But this… this interview was the most tone deaf thing I’ve ever listened to and really shines a light on how democrats are fucking themselves

Honestly, given the general state of things and how unhinged the right is, I'm at the point where most actual progressive positions seem pretty moderate to me.

It's ironic that Fetterman was the progressive wing's darling when he was running. He was endorsed by Bernie, and this very sub was obsessed with him, calling his opponent Lamb a corpo-establishment loser. The same thing was happening with Platner up in Maine until finally (FINALLY) enough red flags got through to get rid of him. So, in a weird way, Fetterman was right. A lot of the progressive wing's favorites end up being really, really bad. I guess he would know first hand.

Hey, remember the online leftist darling Tulsi Gabbard? Whatever happened to her? Oh, yeah...

I am from the Philly area and left leaning progressives in PA never really backed Fetterman. He always seemed like a tool to me. People liked him over Lamb or Dr. Oz, but it was really only libs that liked him still. The people I know that hardcore supported Fetterman were the same people that liked Obama/Hillary/Biden/Harris, not progressives.

And people only liked Tulsi Gabbard on one issue, because she was a former US service member who was anti-war and in congress was pretty consistent on voting against use of military. Yeah she sold out pretty hard. So do moderate democrats like Obama though when he made the Patriot Act permanent law or escalated the Iraq war or built out the NSA surveillance state or the ICE for profit detention centers... so not sure your point, politicians on all sides can sell out their voters. Is Joe Lieberman proof that all moderates can't be trusted?

This is such revisionist history, wow. This sub, and other progressive spaces, were spammed with Fetterman love when he was running. Same with Tulsi, people here, the majority of people here, were calling for her to be Bernie's running mate in 2016 and 2020. And no, it wasn't because she was anti-war, it was because she kissed Bernie's ring and helped spread the RIGGED conspiracy in 2016 for him. When Hillary called her out for being a Russian asset this sub went nuts. Even Bernie defender her, and kept her as a fellow at his institute until she joined Trump's cabinet. Just hours after Platner was finally pushed out in Maine, I saw posts here blaming establishment Dems for forcing him on them, when just a week earlier this place was littered with posts blaming establishment Dems for trying to stop him.

Here's just one post from the primary where people were fawning over Fetterman, claiming he was the next Bernie, and calling Lamb an empty suit. Just like with MAGA, we will not fall for this revisionist history. The records are clear.

well lol, if you think the politics subreddit is progressive (which it isn't) I can see why you would also thing Fetterman was a progressive. This sub is very anti-progressive and pro-moderate democrat. Sure this sub may have supported Fetterman, but those aren't progressives. The people who think Fetterman was a progressive are probably the same people who think Tim Walz and Pete Buttigieg are progressives. None of those people were ever anywhere near the political left

Bernie Sanders endorsed him. I guess Bernie is just some corporate Dem, too.

And yes, this sub is online leftist. I agree, it's not progressive, because as a progressive (not American) I find American online leftists incredible regressive. But by American politic terms, this sub toes the line. When AES won in Michigan, this sub was dominated by posts supporting that result and angrily attacking normie Dems.

Listen, I know revisionist history and a persecution complex is integral to the online leftist identity, much like MAGA. That's populism for you. I'm not here to change your mind, just like saying MAGA is a cult won't change their mind. I'm just here to reassure the sane people who are here that they're not alone. We see reality. And I say this as a true progressive.
