Return To Port Royal - Blazon Stone
Addicted to Blazon Stone rn. The albums are a non stop galloping of old school pirate metal glory. Best Running Wild tribute band ever. Dunno if this is more Speed than Power metal, but it has the energy of both.

Poison Dollys - Love Is For Suckers
Poison Dollys - 1984 - Poison Dollys - Love Is For Suckers
Words & Music by Marky Carter
You saw me comin', you had my number
But you don't want me, could you be dumber
Your eyes are flashin', your lips are willing
But I'm a patsy for the killing
You're so beautiful, so unforgettable
You think that I'd do most anything
CHORUS:
Love is for dreamers, love is for believers
Love is for losers, love
Is for suckers
Love is for suckers, love is for suckers
Listen, I'm not some poor fool, won't jump through your hoop
Ain't gonna crawl, girl, to that I won't stoop
So if you want me, you'll have to get me
And if you're willing I'll be ready
You're so beautiful, so unforgettable
To me that just don't mean anything
REPEAT CHORUS
Listen, well, well, well, if it isn't little miss perfect
And to what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?
You wanna get back together? You do, huh?
Well, listen honey, I'm just not interested
You'll what? You will? With your heels on?
Oh no, come on, babe, let's go
Here I go again
Solo - Eddie
You're so beautiful, so unforgettable
You know that I'll do most anything
REPEAT CHORUS
Listen, love is for suckers, love is for suckers
Sucker fight me, sucker fight you (love is for suckers)
Always be suckers and do most anything
I wanna be a sucker (love is for suckers)
I'm a sucker, you're a sucker
He's a sucker, she's a sucker (love is for suckers)
Would you like to be a sucker, to be sucker?
Love is for suckers, yeah, yeah
Sucker

What was your music journey? How did you find power metal? Do you still listen to power metal often?
Basically what the title asks. We all take different paths through music, and we end up in different comfort zones.
As a kid, my parents listened to a lot of stoner rock and blues. Stuff like Jimi Hendrix, Blue Öyster Cult, Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
I listened to a lot of alternative rock, pop punk, and nu metal as well as some other various acts by listening to the radio on my own in early middle school. My favorites around then were Linkin Park, Green Day, Gorillaz, Sum 41, and Slipknot.
In early high school, the age of streaming was just kicking off with Limewire and other online radio stations. Through (I think) AOL's own steaming stations, I saw the tag "power metal" and gave it a shot. The band that really stuck with me was Kamelot. I grew to really like Masterplan, Symphony X, Nocturnal Rites, Avantasia, and Firewind.
By my freshman year of college, I stumbled across Pandora and found a lot of other new bands that way. The next wave of music that really took me through a journey was the huge progressive metal and djent boom of the early 2010s. Tesseract was the band that got me into the scene. I quickly found Periphery, Monuments, Northlane, and Volumes.
From the late 2010s til now, I find myself branching in every direction based on my tastes growing up. In the pop direction, I started to get into Billie Eilish, Pvris, and Joji. I got into deathcore with Disembodied Tyrant, Lorna Shore, and Darko. I took a dive into dark trap with Istasha, Mossback, and Ghostemane. I've been living for the nu metalcore scene with bands like Cane Hill, Thrown, and Tallah. And I've been keeping track, song by song, of the evolving heavy pop scene with bands like Sleep Token, Sace6, and Nightlife. On top of all of this, I've come across some truly interesting acts like Igorr, Mirar, and Zeal & Ardor.
In terms of modern power metal and symphonic metal, I've slowed down a bit, just as the genre has over the past decade. Some recent bands I've gotten into over the past few years have been Unleash the Archers, Ad Infinitum (although not symphonic metal anymore), and Battle Beast. I do, however, have the occasional day where it's all I listen to.

Have fans ever put you off an album which you subsequently loved?
When I’m getting into a new band with a large discography, I always come on here or other online communities to get a sense of what fans deem the best album or era and start there. When I was getting into Edguy, I avoided Age of the Joker for ages because the fan consensus seemed to be that it was dreadful 🤣 But when I finally gave it a spin my reaction was totally different. Robin Hood, Rock of Cashel, Breathe, Arcane Guild and God Fallen Silent are some of my favourite Edguy tracks. Don’t get me wrong it’s not anywhere near as good as HFC or my personal favourite Mandrake. BUTTT it was significantly better than my ears were expecting. It got me thinking about the subjectivity of music in general and how consensus doesn’t always jibe with personal experience. All obvious points of course… but I’d love to hear other people’s favourite “weakest in discog” albums! 😊
