They have the same amount of musical substance and depth as Imagine Dragons but even worse, they take themselves far too seriously and pretend to be this mysterious, esoteric band with layers of lore but the whole charade is just so cringe. Then you hear them try to add lifeless djent riffs into a song with fucking reggaeton and trap beats and it’s no wonder they are as polarizing as they are. Their cult-like fan base is probably the worst in music right now. Spend 5 minutes on YouTube and you’ll see obsessive Sleep Token comments spammed endlessly by “fans” (could be bots) who talk in platitudes and hyperbole and get weirdly defensive over the slightest critique.

You should....listen to Moron Police. Just slap on Pachinko Part 1 and kick back

I’ve never really liked synths that sound just like synthesised guitars with pitch bends and all that stuff. IMO you might as well just have a guitar, but I do like it when keyboards or synths are used as a lead instrument when they sound like a piano or unique in a way that a guitar can’t replicate.

That said, Arch Echo is a modern band with keyboard/synth up front! Very much like a Dream Theater style, mimicking a guitar sound.

Aviations is an example of piano/keyboard that is really tastefully done in a modern context.

I saw them couple weeks ago and arnor said that they are recording last vocal lines to a new record, so hopefully we're close.

I find it so fascinating that this song and They're Coming For You have like the sameish first second before going on their own journeys. This album is full of echoes and familiar nods in the best possible way.
