I wanna say that iur food is nothing like the one they are serving at East Side Dining. Attached is SBUs poorly made Aji de Pollo š
This second picture is how it actually should look adding arroz chaufa in the slides as well.
Like this is a crime against gastronomy. I need reparations for the damage inflicted in my country's reputation. This has to be cultural appropriation at its finest. I am sorry to everyone who had to experience peruvian food for the first time. SBU, you should do better if you are gonna go around messing up cultural recipes.

(5/5/26)
I am currently a junior at SBU. I am struggling with my mental health and I donāt have a support system I can turn to. I am in therapy but that can only do so much. I only have a few friends and canāt go to my family about this because I donāt have the best relationship with them. I looked into joining clubs but I rarely have any time because I work when Iām not at school and itās like an hourās commute from where I live. Can anyone else relate? Does anyone have any advice?
Update: (9/1/26)
Hey everyone, I hope everyoneās semester is off at a good start. Itās been a while since I last came onto this post. I decided to update it from my last separate post I made last semester.
So I am doing okay, better than before but still pretty lonely. Anyway, this semester my class load isnāt so high, Iām taking 2 HIS classes and 2 PSY classes too. Additionally, I will be on campus 4 days a week. Even though itās like a 1 1/2 to 2 hour commute (round trip) I think Iād be worth it. This will give me more time to look into joining clubs/organizations on campus or maybe meet new people. So far I have met some new people in my classes but so far itās just people you talk to in class and not really out. We do text but nothing really more than that. I know Iām getting way ahead of myself since the semester just started, but I donāt know. A part of me thinks nothing will change, while another part hope things will. Iām still not really too close with my family so I spend most of my time alone. I donāt really have much of a safe familial connection with most of them, maybe one or two. Iām not really too sure how to approach this. I plan on spending most of my time on campus (Mon-Thur) because, honestly, if I go home there wonāt be much of a difference. Iād be by myself, atleast on campus I have a small chance of maybe meeting new people. Iām not too sure what clubs Iād fit into. I have a few basic interests: Reading, meditation, and baking, but theyāre not something, like, Iām seriously invested in. Itās something nice to do to pass the time. Maybe I try a few to see how it goes if I find a few clubs related to them or maybe something new?
(I feel like this whole post is turning into some sort of diary/vent lol)
Btw, sorry that I havenāt responded to those who have directly messaged me when I first posted this. I wasnāt in the right headspace at the time. :(
Can anyone else relate? Does anyone have any advice?

I'm trying to figure out of the phy 133 lab is worth taking in person or online. There are no in person labs available rn so I'm thinking to just drop the online class and take in person one next semester, as I don't really wanna spend the money on the lab kit. Can anyone who has taken it before say if it is doable online or if in-person would be the better option. I also do not want to delay any degree progress. Any insight would be appreciated!

Hi all! The researchers in the Bilingual Speech and Auditory Neuroscience Lab at SBU are running a study on speech perception. Right now, we are looking for English monolinguals who are willing to participate on campus in this paid research study. Please reach out if you are interested in participating! Thank you!

What are they? I see them mostly in regards to business majors. Are they useful resume boosters? What does it take to formally specialize? Anything else to know about them?

Has anyone found a set of keys on the path between Roth Quad and West Apartments?
It has two keys on the ring with a pink character keychain attached.
If you found them or handed them in somewhere, please PM/DM me! Thank you so much!

Or even just jamming together..
My influences are Death, Megadeth, Pantera, Metallica, Necrophagist, Acid Bath, Sepultura, Iron maiden and many more.

Pre-health students are advised to take one year of English or writing. Does anyone know if any of the English or writing classes count besides WRT 102 (already took it) and if so which ones are good ones to take?

I am a current high school senior and will be applying to SBU and most likely attending if/when I get in. I want to major in Marine Vertebrate Biology on a pre-vet track and possibly minor in chemistry, geospatial sciences, or data sciences. Ideally I would minor in microbiology or pathology but SBU doesnāt have that so if i minor in anything those are my top three.
Anyways, my main question is should i take calculus or statistics this year? Both are dual enrollment so I will earn college credit. Iām currently signed up for calculus because when I signed up it was supposed to be AP but that changed. The AP teacher was no longer available so now the only option is dual enrollment calc with a teacher iāve never had before but heard she wasnāt very good. The statistics teacher on the other hand is my favorite math teacher and I had her last year for pre-calc (dual enrollment) and eight grade for algebra.
Either course is applicable to my major. I think Calculus might look better on my application, but I also am already taking three APs so itās not like I have a light schedule.
The only real reason Iām hesitant to take statistics is because of the statistics for the life sciences/biostatistics course at SBU. I feel like Iād rather take that in college and get calculus out of the way now but I also donāt know if I want to suffer through with the current calculus teacher. If anyone has taken Calculus or biostatistics at SBU, or both, can you please tell me what you thought of the class? I know professors can be different but in general what you thought would be great! And also any suggestions on which class I should take now would be great!

This is a new professor and there is not much information about this courses here. I just wonder did he said the exams are open note or not? For those people who took it with other professors, is this course hard? I have some annoying mat courses so I probably gonna put more efforts on those :(
