Advice Request Birth certificate

Upvotes

So I'm considering getting pregnant for me and my partner but I have tons of worries and concerns. And one of them is the birth certificate, I'm uk btw. If I carried and gave birth I would have to go down as mother, but is there a way that could be changed or can I be referred as father with things like doctors and schools and stuff like that. Idk if silly question just don't like the thought of being down as the mother.

misc. Burst into tears over quesadilla 😅

I haven't been experiencing any kind of mood swings or big waterworks so far (11 weeks) but after throwing up on and off for 10 minutes and just feeling all around gross and miserable my partner was rubbing my back and said, "would you like me to make you a quesadilla?"

Absolute waterfall of tears, sobbing and laughing, hiccuping and gagging, total sopping mess. Kept see-sawing between pulling him in for a hug and pushing him away so he could go make the quesadilla.😅

Was curious about what caused y'all's first big cry during pregnancy!

Advice Request Trans on HRT and pregnancy general questions and concerns

For starters, I'm new here and never had a chance to get to know any AFAB transparent.

Demiboy 3.5y on T + post top surgery here. Have any of y'all got experience with pregnancy after HRT? If so, how did it feel? For most of the time I used to never want to get pregnant cause I was afraid it would make me absolutely crazy dysphoric and idk how would I take it + postpartum scares the crap out of me.
But I kinda want to have kids at some point when I'm ready, so I'm in limbo. I'm scared of going back to hating my body and being depressed. When I ran out of T for a month my mood was insanely unstable, but I guess hormones during pregnancy make people happy? I may be partially infertile anyways so idk if it would be even worth trying. Def would go for a checkup before making any decisions.

How soon after childbirth could I get back to taking T?
Won't my breasts grow during pregnancy? If yes, would they go back to normal?
Is it possible for a hospital to deny helping with childbirth if my ID says male?
I'm kinda scared of complications and losing my life due to the amount of anti-trans and anti-abortion bills, but I may try to travel somewhere safer in middle/late stage pregnancy I guess.

Question/Discussion Anyone with tokophobia realize a lot of it stems from not wanting to be a mom?

Obviously the risk of injury or death and the changes to your body are things to worry about too.

I'm 31 and early in my transition (just started T) and still connecting the dots on what gender means to me. I think I realized a big thing for me and my tokophobia might be the perception of being a mom. I need to sit on it and talk with my therapist but this might be a big puzzle piece for me.

Anyone else have similar thoughts/feelings?

Question/Discussion Stopping 12 weekly shots

How long after stopping T (specifically the every 12 weeks testosterone) did periods come back? I know the time varies from person to person but most, if not all of what I've been able to find on rough estimates has not indicated what type of testosterone they have been on so therefore I'm unsure on an estimate on how long I could be waiting. I'm currently 27 years old and have been on long lasting testosterone for years so understand it may take longer than others but I'm just desperate to know roughly how long I could be waiting lol please someone help meeeeee

Venting Family not coming to Babyshower.

I’m feeling horrible because my mother rented a venue for our Baby-shower before my partner came out as trans, now not only is half of my family not attending but we don’t think any of her family will be either. We started with an invite list of around 60 and now we only have 13 confirmations. I’m stressed out about not only making it worth the money my mom spent but also now I’m worrying about making sure we have everything we need for baby before she is here. Just overall stressed out as our financial situation has shifted into a much more difficult position throughout this pregnancy and we are already struggling. As well as realizing how little support we actually have. Just feeling down.

Question/Discussion Can I get breastmilk other than… from me?

Hi, I’m not even having a baby yet, but I need to know that before the top surgery. I know formula is perfectly fine for the baby, but breast milk just ads that extra antibodies and makes babies less prone to allergies, so… I want to feed my baby a mix of formula and breast milk. Any ideas on how to get it?

Question/Discussion Did you find it hard to get pregnant?

I’m about 2 years on T, and married to the most wonderful man on the planet. We want babies, a family, the works. Where I live, adoption is hell, and surrogacy is close to impossible unless you know someone who will do it for you. So, I guess I’m getting pregnant.

Everyone just always says that once you are on T it is hard to get pregnant. I also currently have an IUD, and I know sometimes past birth control use can mess with stuff.

I don’t know if it’s worth it to freeze my eggs. It would cost probably 7k where I am, and that is a fuck ton of money.

My partner is a cis man, so we have all the needed bits to get stuff started if we wanted to. I’m not ready for a kid now, but I’m scared that if I keep waiting and stay on T, I’ll never get to be a dad.

Question/Discussion Finally a dad

I got a positive test a few weeks ago. Must of been 3 or 4 weeks pregnant. I got a blood test the following day. Im 8 weeks and a few days now but the last few weeks ive been in and out of the hospital dealing with the early symptoms its been awful navigating it but im doing it for my baby who I already love. Its hard though because I feel like im losing my masculinity and I need some support. Ive already named them with a gender neutral name that my partner likes. We are a trans couple and this is our first child. I have had many miscarriages so I wasn't sure if I was capable of being a parent but now that I am im navigating so many feelings. Does anyone else go thru this and is anyone willing to talk to me and be my friend. This is such a specific journey that not everyone understands

Advice Request Navigating dating a woman with a child as a trans man

I’m not sure if this is the right sub for this. But I just got into a relationship with a girl who has a kid. The kid is less than a year old. I guess my question is what is the best way to navigate dating her, while also trying to maintain boundaries with the kid. I’m not trying to step into the role of dad as this is new for us both. And it’s too soon for that. Have any of you been in that kind of situation or relationship? What are some dos and don’ts? I know that as the relationship progresses I would like to be there for her emotionally and whatnot. I guess I just don’t want to do too much too quick and overstep what my role is in her life currently or the kids life. And I like I said this is for the both of us, and I will also talk to her about this, but I just want some perspective from the trans man side of things. As if this relationship does become something serious down the line, I’d be the one to have to carry, as she had a really bad go around the first time and she’s got some other things too that would make it unsafe for her to carry anymore children.

Question/Discussion A Trans Pregnancy Account: Dysphoria Hell to Trans Fatherhood

There are disclaimers at the start of the article and it's quite graphic about traumatic birth experiences, and a rough read, but I think it might help some people here to prepare for different possibilities. Also goes over how bad dysphoria can get for those of us who are especially prone to it.

Advice Request When did you decide to have another?

My LO is 10 months old, and he is the most amazing kid. I can’t believe how quickly time is flying.

During pregnancy, I did not have a good time and was sure we would be a one and done household.

But at some point, something shifted in me and I am starting to feel like that might not be the case.

I would love to hear all of your thoughts if you decided to have more than one kid (or if you didn’t, etc). Thanks!

Resources Needed Single dad here, looking for media recs for the kids

22ftm, I have two kids under 3yo. My ex is still in the picture but I’m not sure if he’ll always be. Long story, not the point of the post.

Anyways, are there any children’s books, movies, or shows that have a single dad? Preferably a trans one but I really doubt that exists tbh 😅 I’m trying to figure out how to explain the situation in an age appropriate way.

Venting Second trimester

I though the second trimester was supposed to be easier. I had a few weeks where I felt pretty okay but I’m 21w tomorrow and I’m beat. My hips hurt, my back hurts, I’m exhausted but can’t sleep, and the past few days the acid reflux and nausea have made their return. I’m feeling very pregnant these days. Anyway, anatomy scan at the end of this week to look forward to!

Question/Discussion Guys who got pregnant after you pass as male, was it a choice or acceptance?

I’m not wanting to get pregnant so apologies if I say anything disrespectful but I’m just genuinely curious. I can understand getting pregnant accidentally when you had no plans to, and then making the difficult choice (or unfortunately sometimes no choice) to keep the baby and be a pregnant man. Also I’m not trying to discount men who got pregnant before they pass, that just makes complete sense to me.

What I don’t fully understand is when a man who is seen as a man by everyone in society, makes a conscious choice to get pregnant. Is it due to circumstances with your partner being unable to conceive? Do you not want to adopt or get a surrogate?

I couldn’t imagine dealing with all the dysphoria associated with pregnancy personally, let alone choosing it voluntarily.

So, why did you choose to get pregnant as a man? Were you worried about the social implications of being a pregnant man? Did you genuinely want to experience pregnancy, or was it more to have a child that is biologically yours without a surrogate?
