Is my cat overweight?
She weighs 11 pounds at 1.5 years old. She has a lot of fur and she can clean herself without any trouble, but I can't help but feel like she's overweight every time I look at her.

I've deleted several posts recently and below, I'm posting what I wrote in another thread. As I mentioned, certain discussions can lead to legal ramifications and now it seems there's an active lawsuit involving these reddit posts.
Because reddit encourages a level of anonymity, it's very difficult for users to fact check claims (on either side) so its value to the community becomes very difficult to justify. Several members of the community have asked mods to remove these discussions entirely.
That's not to such information shouldn't be out there nor is it a decision about which side of the discussion is "right", the problem is reddit isn't the right place for it because of its limitations. Users are free to direct others to other resources discussing experiences and the other information about concerns from a previous post still apply.
Please note that future discussions of this nature may now result in a ban. We don't have to have a rule that says don't do things that draw other people into lawsuits.
In general, random internet people aren't able to verify either side of this argument without a lot of digging that I'm not able to do, and I suspect the same of other mods and fellow reddit users.
If the thread goes down another path, it can lead to serious legal issues so the only real way to get anywhere is to record people's names in the event of a lawsuit but disclosing such personal information directly violates reddit's terms, so we can't really go down that road. Therefore, there's a limit how much reddit dialogue can do in these situations.
Appropriate bodies of oversight to investigate these matters include associations/registries for particular breeders. If a breeder is not able to retain certification by a major registry, that is usually a reason for pause. If a breeder is a member, use the registry to make a formal complaint. If the breeder is in your region, you may be able to also lodge a complaint with a governing local animal welfare body. In both cases (and not on reddit) you'll be expected to disclose your name to the appropriate authorities in case the other party is wronged and wishes to sue.
Although it's nice to have a repository of information that gives candid information about breeders to be weary of, I don't know if we don't have the infrastructure for the consequences of that or how much we're allowed to push reddit into that sort of legal area.

Before I became “parent” last year to two Siberian kittens, I was dubious about two things: 1. they are Hypoallergenic; 2. they follow us around “like little dogs.”
I am so happy to say (to others who kay have questions, to myself, etc.) that both are true. My wife is deathly allergic to cats (hence my first kittens at 57 years old!), and she has no reactions to Marmie or Oliver. It is such a relief.
Also, they do bond very closely to their main caregiver, if my two are typical. They follow me everywhere, and when I am in another room, they wait outside until I reappear. It is so amazing: surpassing all my hopes.
So, if you are at all on the fence about the Sib experience, rest assured: they are all that we fans report they are.

Lily has been ill (kitty cold). After a week of antibiotics, I deemed her well enough to go for walkies. I looked up from pulling weeds to see her snoozing with Buddha!

I’ve had friends who had cats that would scratch up everything they could. I was always nervous that my Sib would do it when I got her as a kitten. But, she’s 12 now, and has never once ever scratched anything in my house. Is this a Sib trait?

All that space on the bed, but she will always choose to sleep right on my messenger bag.

We are considering getting an older kitten/adult/retired Siberian cat specifically, We have an 8 month old son and heard that adult cats are better than kittens to be around a small child (we would always be supervising and teaching our son to be respectful of the cat, whether adult or kitten)
I know there is a ban about detailed discussions about breeders, due to the risk of lawsuits. So instead I am simply asking for any cattery names that you could personally recommend due to having a positive experience. If you could just list names you feel moved to share, I believe this does not violate this sub’s rules.

Just walking into my apartment from the courtyard, see my boi sitting majestically in the window and then I snap this amazing picture with his sister looking menacing in the background.

No words needed but we haven’t been away for more than one night since they came home. I am sure they be fine, but I can’t be without our morning/evening snuggles .
Neither cat will come and snuggle on the couch or climb on a lap.but they both show up for naps when I am in bed. While my girl, is always curled up in my chest , my boy will only sleep in my arm…it’s funny how different their personalities are. When they were little my boy would definitely crawl into my lap and sleep all stretched out on my legs, but now a little over a year old not so much. Our girl wasn’t a snuggler at all as a kitten, barely tolerated being touched, she’d come snuggle with her bro who happened to be near me but if I moved at all she would immediately run away…now she is miss super snuggle
