Going from energy drinks to smoothies?

Hi!!

Basically, I've been drinking energy drinks (rubicon raw mango flavour) for years everyday, & it's getting to the point where the money it costs doesn't match up to the benefits I'm getting out of it. I mostly drink it for the taste anyways, I think I could get off of caffine pretty easily.

I'm mostly wondering what your reccomendations are for a fruity, 'tropical' drink that'll help start my day. I don't have a smoothie maker yet but I'm planning on buying one (I'm also open to reccomendations for brands, I'm in Scotland).

Thank you!

Ninja BlendBoss HUGE DESIGN FLAW

The BlendBoss has a massive design flaw and I literally cannot clean this handle. It’s hallow with one single hole allowing debris in but making it hugely challenging to get it out.

I’ve tried vinegar, hot water and cleaning liquid, shaking the bottle aggressively and everything and it’s literally so gross because the dirt is stuck inside.

Please help or should I just return?

EDIT: somebody advised to pop off the solid pink part of the handle(yes the part that is also used to lock in). You need to pry it open with a butter knife. It works but it feels broken and somewhat flimsy doing this but it gets the job done! It’s not made to to do this so be careful.
Soaking and letting it dry upright like what google says does not work. I tried literally everything myself, the only solution is to physically pry it apart and try not to break it.

2 Cups of Spinach a day. The plasticc containers stack u

Trying my best to reuse. My wife uses some containers to stack her heels. She has a lot of shoes, so it makes them easier to identify. I also repackage the dog food from a larger bag to several containers. Other than that it gets recycled. There’s got to be a better way to buy spinach and transport.

Thought I'd share my recipe!

I call it my super berry smoothie I've been having for a while. I'll leave nutritional info below. Forgot to take a picture but it basically looks like any mixed berry smoothie, purple. I use my ninja personal sized blender to make it and everything fills up perfectly to the line of max fill. I use the serving sizes for basically everything added. Super filling, tastes great, and highly nutritional!

Lift of ingredients in order added to smoothie:

-Mixed frozen berries(black,blue,rasp)
-Carbmaster vanilla milk(if no Kroger can use fairlife or regular milk/almond)
-Ratio pro-fiber yogurt (blueberry or vanilla, or use their regular line if you want extra protein over fiber)
-Extra virgin olive oil (from atlas, healthy in general also increases absorption of vitamins)
-2g of ceylon cinnamon (improve insulin sensitivity and other benefits, as well as masking the very subtle taste of evoo)
-25g of chocolate whey isolate (or your choice)
-Naked brand peanut powder
-Greens powder (I prefer to use a greens powder over veggies due to volume/taste. Plus a good greens powder like Green Vibrance has a bunch of other beneficial stuff added)

Nutritional value(from exact ingredients): 640 calories/63g protein/15g fats/38g net carb/25g fiber

Did I blow up my blender?

Yesterday, I was making a watermelon smoothie bowl using frozen watermelon a bit of cream and maple syrup, a tiny bit of vanilla, and some water. I use a nutribullet and it was going well until the final blend when it finally got smooth I opened it and saw this dark orange on the blade. As you can see the smoothie is not at all that color. It was a bit oily to the touch and Gemini told me it was internal lubricant and to discard the blade. This is a photo of that.

Today, I wanted my get back (since I had to throw out the whole smoothie) and I did it again, this time in a vitamix. I understand that my smoothie was perhaps a bit thicker than I should have made it but i wanted it to be ice cream adjacent. I did use water but again I didn’t want to water it down too much and i had to pause a few times to mix and keep it blending. Nothing I haven’t done before with frozen strawberries, blueberries, etc.

Lo and behold, when I finally poured my smoothie/ice cream contraption into a bowl and also tried some of it, I noticed that same orange thing, although maybe a bit less this time, on the blade. It came off after washing and when I blended water and water w a bit of ice to test it it didn’t reappear. Is it actually oil? Did I actually manage to break two blenders in two days? Most importantly, is it safe to finish my amazing smoothie? Please help 😢

Beans in smoothies

Has anyone added beans to their smoothie? I’m on a liquid/puree diet and trying to up my fiber intake and love beans but I don’t know how adding beans to a smoothie would turn out. I’m thinking about using either lentils, kidney or chickpeas with some kind of liquid base and wondering if any of these options can fully dissolve into a uniform liquid. I do have a high power blender (ninja BlendBOSS) incase it matters.

Thanks in advance!

Suggestions to modify my smoothies?

I am currently adding Greek yogurt, frozen berries and some other frozen fruit (mangoes, pineapple, dragon fruit and passion fruit) in my smoothie along with pumpkin seeds. Any suggestion to make it more nutritious and tasty? I am looking for quick option to mix in only.

Also, anyone tried spinach with this kind of smoothie? Did you enjoy it?

Smoothie king employees recipe question

Can anyone that worked/works at smoothie king tell me how to make this flat bread. What brand pesto, flat bread brand and what type of cheese? It’s so good. Pesto and flat bread is weirdly expensive.. I’m iffy to buy different brands to get it right. Thank you :)

I would love to analyse your smoothies

I’m looking for a few people willing to share one smoothie they actually eat.

Reply with:

- ingredients + rough amounts

- how it was prepared

- any milk/protein powder/fortified products

- coffee or tea with/around the meal

I’ll analyse the combination and share a few interesting interactions, potential trade-offs, and simple ways to optimise it—without demonising individual foods.

Please tell me if you find this useful, honest feedback is very welcome!

Best Ninja blender set to invest in?

I use frozen fruits, whey protein, and almond milk for smoothies. The only blender that has worked for me is Ninja. I’ve already been through two cheaper blenders trying to save money, but both have broken (one literally started smoking because it couldn’t handle the ingredients 🥲). I didn’t want to do Ninja again because of the plastic and how expensive it is to replace pitchers once they degrade. I originally bought my first one on a super sale ($25!!!), but the pitcher has since degraded. Glass pitcher blenders are hard to come by, and I can’t find anything with a blade system like Ninja.

So, I’m thinking about getting one of the Ninja sets that comes with multiple pitchers. I use blenders for smoothies (blends to about 30 oz) and my cat’s dry food (he has to have it powdered because of mouth problems), so I have to have something tough. I see mixed reviews on the different sets, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me which set is best to go for. I also need it to be on the less expensive side (<$250, preferably closer to $100). If you have a better brand suggestion that has a similar blade system, I’m open to that as well! Thanks!

Is a budget personal blender enough for frozen fruit and protein shakes?

I am trying to make breakfast and protein shakes easier without dragging out a full-size blender every morning. Most of what I make is frozen berries, banana, protein powder, milk or water, and sometimes iced coffee.

I've been looking at compact blenders in the $30 to $50 range, including the 900W, 22oz KOIOS model. High wattage looks great on paper for quick shakes, but I'm more interested in how these budget units actually hold up in daily use beyond the specs. For people who use a personal blender regularly, what matters most: enough liquid, blade design, cup size, cleanup, or noise? I do not need it to dry-crush a full cup of ice. I just want something that will not become annoying after two weeks.

Smoothie Suggestions for Digestion

Hello! I am looking to create a tasty smoothy that helps me poop haha! So far I am adding…

Half apple
Half banana
blueberries
strawberries
chobani yogurt
peanut butter
spinach
water and or lactose free milk

I learned the hard way adding a full serving of chia seeds. I am thinking about cutting that back to just a teaspoon along with all these ingredients.

I am just getting into this and would love some tips. Thanks!

made acai bowl and found green substance at bottom of blender

Hey so I made a larger smoothie bowl to bring for some friends including strawberries, mango, pineapple, acai, and a little lemonade. I make these all the time (usually in smaller portions) and have never once noticed this green, oily substance that smudges off when touched. It’s only attaching to the blender and a metal spoon, not another container i put it in. Before i noticed it, i tasted it and it tasted great. Anyone know if this is blender failure or just some chemical reaction?

Trying to make breakfast smoothies actually stick...are blender cups with travel lids worth it?

I’m trying to meal prep for the week and I love smoothies so I really want to have a good product to help make it easy for me. I want to be able to toss fruit/yogurt/protein powder into a personal blender, blend it, put the lid on the same cup, and take it with me. I do not want (or need) any extra dishes in my sink.

I’ve been looking at the koios personal blender because it comes with three 22oz travel cups and flip-top lids. The three cup setup seems like something I could use since one could stay at work, one could be in the dishwasher, and one could be ready for the next morning.

My main concerns are basic but important to me like does the travel lids actually stay sealed during a commute? Does protein powder residue get annoying if you don’t rinse it right away? Is 22oz a practical size for breakfast, or too much? Does having multiple cups actually make the habit easier to keep?

For people who use a personal blender regularly, what actually keeps it in your routine? The cup count, leak resistance, dishwasher-safe parts, or just having a dead-simple recipe you repeat?
