I'm a grad student living in Bridgeport, CT. Due to my TA duties this semester, I'll have to be on campus 5 days a week, so commuting (a total of 5-6 hours/day) is not an option. If anyone would happen to be aware of an opportunity for a room i can lease/sublease for this semester I'd be greatful. I am also willing to rent the room from Monday to Friday (so 4 nights/week) since that's all i need, if that works better for you. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Lmk!

I’m an Indian international grad student starting at Stevens this fall, and my classes start Sep 1. I just got here and, as the title suggests, I don’t know a single fucking person at the college lol.

I was supposed to attend orientation, but ended up missing it because of a flight delay. So right now I have pretty much zero idea how things work around campus or what I’m supposed to get done before classes start

I’m planning to head to Stevens either today (Monday) or tomorrow (Tuesday). I wanna visit the ISSS office, get my ID card, figure out whatever other formalities I missed during orientation, and just explore the campus a little instead of walking in clueless on my first day.

So if anyone’s gonna be on campus today or tomorrow and doesn’t mind me tagging along, feel free to DM me. Doesn’t matter if you’re a new student, current student, grad/undergrad, international or not. I’d just love to meet some people and have a few familiar faces around campus.

Hi! I’m currently a CSE undergraduate from India with an 8 CGPA, which roughly converts to a 3.1–3.2 on the US GPA scale. I’m hoping to transition into the space industry, particularly on the computational/software side rather than hardware-focused roles.

I’m aware that ITAR restrictions can make it difficult for international students to work in certain areas of the US space industry. From what I understand, though, many of the more computational areas can have more opportunities that aren’t as heavily restricted.

While researching master’s programs, I came across Stevens Institute of Technology’s MS in Space Systems Engineering. The program seems to have a fairly strong computational and systems focus, which is exactly what I’m looking for. However, I honestly don’t know much about Stevens itself, and I haven’t come across it as often as universities like Purdue, Georgia Tech, CU Boulder, etc.

Since there also don’t seem to be many universities offering a dedicated Space Systems Engineering program, I’m wondering whether Stevens would be a realistic option for someone with my background and GPA.

Would I be a feasible applicant for this program? And more importantly, how well regarded is Stevens within the space industry, especially for someone trying to enter the field from a CSE background and eventually work in computational space/astronautics?

I’d really appreciate some brutally honest advice on whether this is a program worth seriously considering, or if I should be looking at other degrees/universities instead.

I want to major in cybersecurity but I heard mixed reviews on cybersecurity. Is it worth is doing cybersecurity at Stevens?

I was wondering if there was anyone I could talk too who's doing the Systems Engineering program at Stevens. I'm thinking of applying for the PhD program and wanted to talk to someone in the program.

Been thinking about doing graduate school here and wanted to reach out to faculty or student's who're in the program.

I’m currently outside the US and do not hold F-1 status. I’m thinking about starting the regular StevensOnline MSCS from abroad, then possibly moving to Hoboken and finishing on campus later.

I know Stevens says the online and on-campus MSCS are the same degree, and I’ve seen people mention taking on-campus classes while enrolled online. But I can’t find a clear answer about formally switching to full-time on-campus status as an international student who starts the degree from abroad.

Has anyone actually done this?

Main things I’m trying to figure out:

Did you have to reapply, or could you just switch modality?

Could Stevens issue you an Initial I-20 after the switch?

Did all your online credits still count?

Did the degree stay at 30 credits?

If you later applied for OPT, how many semesters did Stevens require you to be on campus?

I’m asking specifically about the regular StevensOnline MSCS, not the Beacon program.
Would really appreciate any first-hand experience, including if you tried this and Stevens said no.

Im just curious because I want to schedule something for that monday and the convocation starts at 10:30 but it doesn’t say when it ends.

Has anyone here taken a gap year or ended up taking more than a year off from Stevens and then came back?

I’m taking time off right now and I’m still not 100% sure when I’ll return. Would love to hear from anyone who did something similar. How long were you away, what made you come back, and was it difficult getting back into school/adjusting academically?

How strict is the school on transferring credits over from another school? Like the rules state C and higher, but if someone were to get a C-, would the school just deny them?

Do ppl actually have to follow this rule. Do they care enough for bean bags in dorm?

So Im not in jersey anymore which forces me to take the grad courses on web campus(unless yall know professors that lowkey do both). Which only leads to a few options. Machine learning with David Landaeta, Text Mining and Information Retrieval with Xueqing Liu, and artificial intelligence (no professor yet). I know crazy pool of classes. I refuse to take a duggen class. Let me know what yall think about these three. I'm leaning on machine learning but i dont want to do any math and never heard of this professor before.

I dont think UCC towers are worth 8k a semester so should i look for off canpus housing?
