I recently dropped out of Taylor, and I would like to share some thoughts. This is long, sorry in advance. This is a true discussion and I will take any and all opinions.

I started in the Fall of 2023 as a journalism major. One thing I immediately noticed was the lack of teachers\profs in the department. The recent, full time professor just retired and now the department is left up to adjuncts. Some of them live far away or out of state, and only do classes on Zoom. I've noticed other departments are doing that as well.

My freshman class in 2023 was considered the largest. That's obviously changed. Taylor needs to somehow have a better process of accepting students so that current students have a chance at enjoying their 4 years. Some upperclassmen have been forced out of dorms into townhomes and apartments when they were enjoying the dorm life and traditions.

I came in just as everything was changing. My class was the one where they added the Biblical minor thing (I don't remember the actual name😂). They had just started big construction projects and Horne was almost done. My last semester was this past Spring and there's even more construction. I commuted from Anderson, which made life worse, as parking was my first priority. Most parking lots are staff\faculty only and I had trouble finding parking when student parking lots were blocked off for tours, visitors and construction. To add, commuters were often overlooked for the students who lived on campus.

President Lindsay is doing a good job of getting the school's name out there, but at what cost? He drags around Chorale\Sounds (I changed my major to music about 2 years in) on his grant grabbing missions and is never actually around for the rest of the students.

The grants are amazing, I'm happy the school is getting money. But, can someone actually tell these people what Taylor needs it for?? All the dorms desperately need a major overhaul and the academic buildings aren't being used properly.

The students that come in are getting dumber and dumber, no offense. They have no regard for the property they're on (I had an in with facilities and maintenance). The dorms and academic buildings are constantly being "fixed" and Student Life thinks that the students can do no wrong. I know I'm a pretty average student, I don't get the best grades, but these new kids have no regard for anything. Class is apparently optional for them and so are assignments. Yet, they progress through to their degree. Do they not love and respect their parents for paying? Do they not respect the authority of the professors and the school they are LIVING IN??

I did enjoy my time at Taylor, truly. I had a good group of friends and spent my time wisely. But academic life was never for me, and it was pretty obvious my last semester.

The Lindsay administration has certainly done a lot of stupid things that have had a net negative impact on Taylor's legacy and culture, to the point that I'm rarely actually surprised by the stupid decisions that keep happening. But like, how in the world is it that the administration "can't do anything" about the mold problem in the dorms (which, by the way, has permanently disabled multiple people) but they can somehow come up with enough to build a whole hotel, with a bar, that isn't particularly needed in the community?

As a second generation Taylor student who grew up hearing how amazing Taylor and its community was under Jay Kesler, I find myself continually disappointed and infuriated by the erasure of everything that made Taylor such a strong lifelong community for so long.

If there's anything we can do to speak out about this in a way that will be heard, I want my voice to be heard on this matter. We're facing the end of what has made Taylor the best Christian school around and the best school in the Midwest and I want to do what I can to reverse this damage before it becomes permanent.

Hi, curious as to whether Taylor is open to Catholics. I'm aware that it's a non-denominational school, but considering it's strong evangelical foundation I'm debating whether I'll fit in as a Catholic, not theologically but socially. If any Catholics who attended could give me more insight, that'd be great!

I’m currently part of the first cohort in Taylor University’s Physician Assistant program, and I want to give a realistic picture of what it’s been like so far. • No in-person anatomy professor. The instructor doesn’t actually work at Taylor. He lives in another state, provides prerecorded videos, and we were told not to contact him with questions. • Very limited lab experience. Anatomy lab involves identifying structures that are already laid out on the table — there’s no real dissection or interactive instruction. • No tutors or structured academic help. There are no tutoring resources for core classes like anatomy, pathophysiology, or pharmacology. You’re mostly teaching yourself or relying on classmates. • No clear chain of command. It’s confusing who to talk to when problems come up; students are often redirected to people outside the PA program. • Limited resources and facilities. Even basic things like whiteboards aren’t always available in classrooms, which makes studying and collaboration harder. • Small-town environment. Taylor is in a very small town, and the program itself feels tight-knit — several students are related or married. That might be interesting or appealing to some people, but it also makes the environment feel very different from larger, more structured medical programs.

I’m not posting this to bash anyone — just to be transparent. Please think hard and long before joining a new program!

Hi! How many classes at Taylor incorporate group prayer? Asking because I saw a professor’s class outline and to start he noted that he would have a student lead the class in prayer. Is this common? Every class? Rare? Thanks for any insight.

im wondering about taylor scholarships, cause the last time i was there i cant rmb if they said i cant get one if im going for a foundation course. but if i get in with the requirements for the scholarship what happens then cuz i cant use it for foundation

Hey! So I might be going to Taylor next year (I'm only 17) and I was wondering, am I allowed to sell food on campus? Stuff like homemade marshmallows, cookies, cookie bars, protein muffins, etc. Something simple I could do to make a bit of money.

Is that type of thing allowed or is it a big no?

So im considering Taylor as a college option, but I want honest opinions on the theological sates of the university. I come from a reformed tradition so it's important to me that the school I attend is still solidly christian and has reformed and conservative influence. Is Taylor still solid or is it sadly slipping away like many other christian universities. Pleas give honest answers

I haven't seen any response from the university at this point, and will be interested as more information surfaces.

For years I’ve wondered if my memory of this is a delusion. Can anyone else confirm that students rioted during a power outage in the 2004/2005 school year? It was mostly vandalism and the kinds of shenanigans you’d expect from sexually repressed Christian kids finally living away from mom and dad. No buildings burned down or anything.

I’ve lost touch with everyone I knew at Taylor, but I’m dying to know if anyone else remembers this. Please tell me I’m not crazy.
