It's funny because someone thought that with AI doing computer stuff they could fire some people, it's the opposite.

It's the weak links in a production chain lesson.

Developer velocity is also not lift for an organization. Ignoring for a moment, developer velocity is mostly eaten up by QA and regression and so forth. So even "free" dev doesn't do want supporters claim it will. The real problem with the AI bubble is. Where's the actual profit or gain coming from? 

Linux is a nonprofit so you have to move the argument out a step. But just imagine the Linux kernel gets 2x as many devs overnight...  So what?

Sure we can harden more bugs. Sure we can optimize some performance. Sure we can reach more hardware.

Will any of that suddenly jump Linux to majority market share? Nope. Most people won't even notice.

Maybe Linus can take more vacations.

But "more kernel more faster" doesn't DO anything in a vacuum.
