Malgré le raz de marée des avis négatifs, cet album si on l'écoute vraiment est juste un superbe voyage que nous offres les Strokes en espérant que ce soit pas la dernière danse 🙏🤘

The New Abnormal Tattoo

I got my first ever tattoo this past weekend. I figured this guy deserved a spot on my body after these last 6 or so years. I’m very pleased with how it turned out!

i waited for a century

crying because i love selfless so much 😭 it’s so painfully beautiful 😭 like idk there’s just something about “i don’t have love without you around” and “life is too short but i will live for you” that fucking gets me every time 😭

and then “you’re mucking off but i will live for you, my selfless love” ???? hello???? 😭😭 the whole song just feels like loving someone so much that you’re willing to wait forever for them even if they’re not really giving you anything back and there’s no guarantee that they’ll ever ever choose you or that all that waiting is even gonna mean anything in the end. like you’re just willing to keep waiting because you love them and somehow that feels like enough.

“i waited for a century” is my favorite line of all time cause same julian, same.

idk maybe i’m just projecting but this song feels like loving someone to the point where you kinda lose yourself in it. like you know you should stop waiting but you just, don’t.

and the fact that i resonate heavily contributes to my love for this song lol

Strokes tattoo cover up

I follow this tattoo shop on YouTube and this video that mentioned a strokes cover up popped up...

While it is not a good tattoo, it is interesting to see a fairly large strokes tattoo that actually depicts the boys.

Life is Simple in the Moonlight

This song is so fucking gas and I’m glad it’s finally getting the cred it deserves. I’ve always been an Angles defender and this is probably my second favorite song off the album. Them playing it live was a highlight for me and it just sounds so good, seems like more people are like — wait a second, what is this banger.

The Strokes in general seem to be at their highest level of appraise in a long time between smashing the tour and the residuals of TNA bringing in new fans. The Strokes still kicking ass in 2026….What a time.

My first time traveling for a concert will be for THE STROKES!

Living in Houston, I got severe FOMO watching all the clips on r/TheStrokes from this tour. The last time I attended a concert during one of their actual tours was 2006 at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom for FIOE. I was living in NYC as a student and still think about that show.

Since then I’ve seen them at multiple Coachellas (including this year), ACL, and even when they opened for RHCP in our baseball stadium (weird venue). Seeing them at festivals has been amazing, but there’s something calling me to watch them with fellow fans. I need to be with my people. My weird, The Strokes/Julian-loving people.

They’re the soundtrack of my life. My kids know their songs. My 7-year-old asks for “The Adults Are Talking” in the car. I have a poster from their 10/23/01 show at Stubb’s in Austin hanging in my office. My 12-year-old and I have even embarked on a project to rank their entire catalog. I’m just incredibly grateful that my favorite band is still creating after all these years. Tears-welling-up-in-my-eyes gratitude type stuff.

As for this tour, at first I was a bit miffed that Nick wasn’t traveling with them. Nick is critical to The Strokes, and they are not “The Strokes” (officially, in my head) without him. He and Albert will go down as one of the best rock guitar tandems of all time. I love seeing them play together.

But then I started seeing the clips, reading all your comments, and hearing how great they sound. The itch got to be too much. I’ve never traveled for a concert before, but if I’m ever going to do it, it’s was always going to be for The Strokes.

Plus, I hear Nick’s sub is a nice guy. He’s no Nick, but if the boys love him enough to bring him on tour, I reason that’s not a reason to avoid the show. Or maybe this is just rationalizing and I’m really an addict. Doesn't matter, I'm seeing The Strokes in MF'ing Tampa on the 12th and I cannot wait!

Any of you travel for the Reality Aways tour? Any tips? WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

In case anyone is wondering what this decked out truck is on The Strokes merch hoodie, it's a Japanese subculture of decorating trucks to the extreme, called Dekotora.

Which new songs have you heard on the radio?

My local New York independent station (90.7 FM) has been playing Going To Babble On lately. Leading up to album release they played Going Shopping a fair amount. Im just curious what others have been hearing. I was hoping to hear Lonely in the Future on the radio. Personally I think it hits much harder when a song comes on the radio rather than queuing it on Spotify.

Support your local radio! Especially since the “government” cut funding.

The boys on TRL?

Upvotes

A random thought occurred to me: 2001 was during the heyday of Total Request Live on MTV. I never watched it, as I had no desire to hear Jessica Simpson or Kid Rock. I know their videos aired on MTV(that’s where I first heard them), so were their songs ever on the TRL countdown? It’s hard for me to picture it.

I love these photos of Julian Casablancas and Jason Schwartzman!

This is embarrassing… but I had such a huge crush on Schwartzman in Rushmore, lol! 🤭 I love when things from my childhood do unexpected crossovers, like when the White Stripes had a week long residency on my favorite late night show, Conan O’ Brian. Rushmore was probably my favorite movie, and The Strokes my favorite band at around this time, so I’m definitely feeling some starry-eyed nostalgia when I look at these photos.✌️🫶

P.S. Does anyone know if Phantom Planet, Jason’s band, ever opened for the Strokes?

Every time I hear the lyric “maybe you’ll catch up sooner” on Lonely in the Future, I hear “maybe you’ll eat chop suey” instead. Surely it can’t be just me

Conduit - Machinegum Vinyl

Hey y'all,

I'm curious where I would find a Conduit vinyl. This album got me through some hard times so hearing it on my record player is a dream of mine. Ik it was a limited release and boy do I wish I was around for it.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, as being put on a waitlist for something that's probably never going to be back in stock is a little sad.

Thanks!
