On-Campus Housing Check-In confusion

I got an email today saying that I'm gonna check in at the East Check-In location, but when I click on the link in the email, the only available option for 'travel direction' is "SOUTH" (I'm driving north) and the auto-generated Google Maps brings me north of Northeast for check-in, which I don't think is the East Check-In location (although I might be wrong, but it's a bit far north). I was wondering if anyone could clarify what exactly I'm supposed to do.

Thanks in advance.

On-Campus Housing Extension cords / Power strips

Does anyone know how many outlets there are on each side of a standard dorm room and where they are located? How many extension cords/power strips do you guys suggest? I am an incoming freshman moving into Knowlton Hall soon. Thanks for the help!

Campus & Facilities Do outstanding balances prevent you from moving in if it's a for a scholarship?

Upvotes

Someone asked a similar question, but their question had to do with waivers. I have one I processed very late and it's likely going to take 1 to 2 weeks. I don't think so but wanna double check

On-Campus Housing extension cord on desk??

ok maybe i’m dumb but when i stayed for orientation and when i look at dorm tours online, there’s this cord wrapped around the hutch on the desks. is this plugged into the wall? are we meant to plug an extension cord into it so that we have charging space near our desk. i couldn’t figure it out during orientation why there’s a long plug on the desk.

Academics Isenberg Online BBA/UWW students taking 12+ credits — how much financial aid did you actually receive?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in the Isenberg Online BBA through UWW/University+ and I'm taking 16 credits this Fall.

Financial Aid told me that Online/UWW undergraduate students are initially packaged assuming 6 credits per semester, and that after the add/drop period they adjust the Pell Grant and federal loan amounts based on the actual number of credits being taken.

I'm hoping to hear specifically from someone who is/was in the Isenberg Online BBA or another UWW/University+ undergraduate degree program and took 12 or more credits in a semester.

If you don't mind sharing:

  1. How many credits were you taking?

  2. How much grant/Pell aid did you have before the full-time adjustment?

  3. How much did your grants increase after they recognized you were taking 12+ credits?

  4. How much did your federal loans increase?

  5. What grants did you receive (Pell, UMass Amherst Grant-CPE, etc.)?

  6. After all grants and loans were applied, approximately how much did you actually have to pay out of pocket for that semester?

My current balance is around $3,600, but Financial Aid told me my Pell Grant and loans will be adjusted after add/drop because I'm actually taking 16 credits rather than the initial assumed 6.

I'm already working directly with the Financial Aid Office, so I'm not looking for official financial aid advice. I'm mainly trying to compare with someone who has actually gone through this same process in the Online BBA/UWW program.

Thanks! Any actual numbers or experiences would be really helpful.

Other Offer or Request New peer-to-peer app & would love your feedback

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everybody,

It’s a nightmare to get oddly shaped stuff moved (guitar at home, TV, etc) & parents aren’t going to visit anytime soon. Shipping rates are insane.

To fix this, I built BringIt, a new peer-to-peer app to connect students who need stuff moved with people already driving the route. The driver makes a little extra cash and you get or ship your stuff for a fraction of the cost. Plus, you help the environment by not adding another vehicle or to the roads.

For any of you with a car, this could be a good side hustle too, on your schedule.

I’m rolling this out and starting in New England so would love your feedback. App is live on Google and will be on iOS soon. Search Google’s store for BringIt Transport and let me know what you think!

Sharing with r/UMass, r/UVM, r/Northeastern, r/BostonUniversity……

Thanks again!

On-Campus Housing Minute Movers/Move-in Process

I’m a freshman moving in to Van Meter with assistance from a mover, and I’m aware the hall doesn’t have an elevator. My question is do they only remove my stuff from the car and then I have to bring it to my room? Do they bring it up to my room, and if so how? I’m moving in by myself so i just want to be prepared.

On-Campus Housing Print out your boarding pass. Put it in your car right now!

If you are moving into a dorm this week during assisted moving hours, log into the Housing Portal and print out your boarding pass right now. Put it in your glove compartment. Future you will thank past you.

"Printing Instructions

  • The Boarding Pass does not have to be printed in color.
  • Make sure the QR code is printed fully to be scanned at check in.
  • You can print multiple copies of your boarding pass, and should do so if you are bringing multiple cars to check in.
  • If for any reason your move in reservation time changes AFTER you printed your original boarding pass, you will need to print a new boarding pass.
  • If you do not have your boarding pass upon arrival, you will need to print one at our check in station. This will add time to your move in process.

NOTE: Forgetting your Boarding Pass on Assisted Days will add a minimum of 30 minutes to your check-in time. "

Also remember some campus roads will be closed or rerouted for move-in and you're not going right to your dorm, but to the check-in point. Get move-in directions to your check-in location here: Fall Move In Check In Lookup

On-Campus Housing Elevator Usage During Assisted Move-In Day

I am a returning senior and will be living in Cashin this year. I bring my PC with me to school, and am worried about getting it up to my room. Last year, when I lived in McNamara, I was told that the movers dont want to move technology I assume due to liability issues, and as a result I essentially had to lug it up 5 or so flights of stairs with my elderly father.

Is there anyway I could ask them to take my PC? Or just quickly let me use one of the elevators to get up to my room? I'm on an even higher floor now and carrying a giant box up the congested stairwell while everyone is moving seems like a nightmare waiting to happen

Off-Campus Housing College Inn Apartments

Does anyone know anything about College Inn Apartments? Had to unfortunately drop from my prior roomming plans because of an issue with a roommate so I'm looking for studio/1 bedroom places since it's a bit late to find a roommate. The pricing on this place is pretty nice but the reviews are concerning, however the reviews are mostly quite old. I would appreciate any information about them, good or bad. Thanks!

Got an email about SPACE (Supporting Peer Academic Commitment and Excellence), and im wondering if it's worth joining as i'm nervous about adding another graded class. Will joining be for study help or for networking with peers? How hard are you graded, and how long are the classes? If anyone has been in it let me know!

On-Campus Housing Overnight guest policy

I want to invite my friend to come stay in my dorm overnight for a few days for my birthday weekend, thursday to monday morning bc i can’t get her home sunday cause of bus/train times. i know umass has a guest policy that only allows overnight guests for 2 nights in a row but how often is that enforced? i figured when she comes down thursday i could get her in before security comes so it’s rlly only 3 nights i have to worry about it. friday and saturday we’ll probably come back late so im not sure what to do about that last night. will they really cause a scene for the extra night?

School or Local Events New Women's Group

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I co-founded a local organization called Anchor Point Collaborative here in Western Mass, and I wanted to share a project we’re running this fall in South Hadley in case it’s helpful for anyone.

Growing up, I navigated my own mental health struggles, which showed me firsthand how vital a support system really is. I created this space to offer young people what I needed back then: a welcoming community to connect with and real-world skills to thrive.

Starting Wednesday, September 23rd, we’re facilitating an 8-week Young Women’s Hope & Resilience Group at All Saints' Church. Weekly sessions are focused on topics including effective communication, the impacts of social media, and how to cope with change. We utilize a range of creative modalities including music, art, and games to keep our groups interactive and engaging.

All groups are led by a licensed independent clinical social worker, so the space offers structured clinical support while keeping the vibe warm and conversational.

Quick details:

When: Wednesdays starting Sept 23 (8 weeks) from 5-6pm

Where: All Saints' Church, South Hadley

Eligibility: Young Women (ages 18-25)

Cost: $320 for the full 8 weeks (we accept most insurance plans and have sliding scale options available)

If you’re a college who could use a supportive community space this fall, you can read more at ouranchorpoint.com.

Happy to answer any questions!

PUBPOL 390C PUBPOL 390C or PUBPOL 301?

I am a public policy minor and I need to take one more course to complete the minor. Does anyone have any insight on PUBPOL 390C with Joya Misra or PUBPOL 301 with Brittany Houston? 390C doesn't interest me much, but I've already taken JYW for my major so I'm not sure if 301 would be helpful. If anyone has taken the classes before and could share their experience I would appreciate it.
