Ai use at uts is getting out of hand. I study a bachelor of sustainability and environment, and they have mandatory ai use. I have just found out i cannot complete part 2 of my assessment as i used my own brain instead of a computer for part 1. And in accounting, in the section of the lecture where they were meant to explain our assessment task, they literally said ok everyone u have 5 mins to plug it into chat gpt and get ai to explain it. Its actually disgusting, i am paying so much for this education and i feel like im learning nothing. Does anyone want to protest? I dont even know where to start with setting one up.

Hi everyone, just wondering if any international students here completed the Master of Professional Accounting at UTS and then applied for a skills assessment with CA ANZ?

My Migration Agent applied the skill assessment on my behalf and CA ANZ has told me I’m missing 77947 Companies and Securities Law, but I completed 79708 Contemporary Business Law as part of my MPA.

Has anyone had the same issue before? Did CA ANZ accept 79708, or did you need to provide a subject outline / letter from UTS / complete another law subject?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation. Thank you!

Hi everyone! I’m planning to start at UTS in February and I’m trying to understand how the academic calendar actually works.
I’m still a bit confused about the semester structure, so I wanted to ask current UTS students:
How many teaching weeks are there in one semester?

Is one semester around 12 weeks, or is it longer once exams are included?

When does Semester 1 usually finish for February intake students?

How long is the break between Semester 1 and Semester 2?

When does Semester 2 usually finish?

Is there usually a long summer break from around November to February?

If your subjects don’t have final exams, can you leave Sydney earlier?

Do students normally go back home during the longer breaks?

I’m also trying to decide whether I should rent a studio for 6 months or 12 months, so I want to understand the actual study and holiday schedule before signing a lease.
I’d really appreciate any advice from current UTS students, especially business students. Thank you! :)

I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at UTS and I’m really interested in doing the Mechatronics Engineering sub-major.

I was looking through the subjects listed under the sub-major, but I’m a bit confused about the prerequisites. Some of the subjects listed are 3rd-year subjects that require subjects such as Embedded Mechatronics Systems or other 1st/2nd-year subjects as prerequisites, but those prerequisite subjects don’t seem to be listed as part of the sub-major itself. Any advice on this?

omg guys im coming to uts February next year. I was just wondering if the workload was gonna be insane or moderate. Besides, is it easy to land a part time job near UTS? (like F&B job, jobs in the mall...)

I just wanted to see if anyone else has been in my position, and whether their application was successful/what they wrote in their exclusion letter.

My history is that I studied at ANU for 2 years a few years ago, but was excluded for unsatisfactory academic progression due to missing a few exams and personal circumstances, as well as some undiagnosed mental health issues. I served the 1 year exclusion period and tried to apply to a few universities but was rejected due to the previous exclusion.

I see on UTS' website that they allow applications from students with past exclusions, as long as you submit a written statement on how your circumstances have changed. I wanted to know if anyone else has been in this position and what my chances are like so I can consider if the application fee is worth it and/or whether I should put other universities as later preferences in case it doesn't work out. So I got accepted! yippie! and I'm going to apply for housing in October. I'm just thinking: Should I get a studio, a 2-share or a 6-share? like there's so many pros for a studio but I don't want to like... be isolated?
a two share seems cool but I don't want to be annoying if I snore... same goes for the six share! I'm also the type of person to have music playing like all the time and also sing to that shit..............
But does the experience make up for all the cons of embarrassing myself? let me know how it is!

Hi everyone! I’m planning to study at UTS and I’m currently looking into accommodation in Sydney.
I’d prefer to rent a studio apartment, but I’m not really sure which areas are the most convenient for UTS students. I’ve seen places in the CBD, Ultimo, Haymarket and Chippendale, but I’d love to hear from people who actually study or live around there.
A few things I’m wondering about:
● Where would you recommend living if I want an easy commute to UTS?
● Are areas like Ultimo, Haymarket or Chippendale better than the CBD in terms of price and convenience?
● Roughly how much should I expect to pay per week for a studio?
● Is a 6-month lease or 12-month lease usually better for an international student?
● Are 6-month leases difficult to find in Sydney?
● How does the UTS academic year work? When are the main semester breaks and longer holidays?
● Do international students usually stay in Sydney during the holidays, or do most people go back home?

Hi, I'm currently an Information Systems student but I'm thinking of switching to civil engineering. I currently have a HP laptop but i've noticed its been acting up. The battery life is really bad and the sometimes it doesnt connect to wifi and other issues. What is a good laptop to buy? My budget is around $1400, I've heard Lenovo is good but most of the laptops have Snapdragon and I heard thats not good. My other option was Acer but I heard the laptop is really loud. I want something with good battery life and something that can handle apps used in the degree. I would greatly appreciate the help. thank you

I'm hoping to finish up my undergraduate course at UOW by next year, and I'd like to do my masters at a Sydney uni. It's between UTS and UNSW at the moment and I'd really appreciate it if anyone could shed some light on the issue. I'm leaning toward UNSW because of the shorter course length, but I don't want to risk making the wrong decision.

I wanted to post this to get some opinions circulating more than anything. Since the start of last year I've been studying a Bachelor of Criminology (Analytics and Research). Initially I transferred from IT because the degree felt too broad and I wanted to apply the analytics major to something more substantial. I chose the Bachelor of Crim because it seemed relatively appealing to me, but I've lost all interest in it now. I wanted to do the Bachelor of Environmental Biology but got suaded out of it by some people who posted here and some other people I met at uni. It is still something I'd be incredibly interested in persuing and I think would make approaching my uni work far more enjoyable but I fear that I've already gone too far into this degree. Has anyone been in the same boat? What steps would you take/did you take?

I don't understand the point of doing a prerecorded lecture when the lecturer just sits there and slowly reads the poor quality, copy and pasted slides which have probably been used for the last 6 years.

Do you think we can't read? Your job is to explain the terrible quality slides not do bedtime stories.

We pay thousands and thousands of years for these courses and the quality of learning materials put out is quite frankly appalling.

Hi! I’m 1 month away from graduating high school and is planning to apply for the bachelor of nursing at UTS.

I am interested in working with mothers, babies and young children. I really want to become a midwife and love the idea of supporting women through pregnancy, birth and postpartum. The main thing making me hesitate is the long/unpredictable hours, night shifts and work-life balance, especially long term.

I’ve recently also become interested in child & family health nursing/MCHN because I’d still get to work closely with babies and families, but with more regular hours.

Which path should i go down and is the workload really high?
