Okay but who is publishing the FO3 / FNV remakes? It doesn't matter if the studio is good but unsupported by the publisher. Why should we trust Bethesda on this project compared to the Oblivion remaster?
To be fair. With all of the recent changes now from sharma, I can see her pushing Todd and the company to actually take care of things like this. Not guaranteed. But with what she’s already made him have to pivot on that he has been so goddamn stubborn about, I’d say the chances are pretty high.
I don't pay attention to any of that. I just know that I was excited for the Oblivion Remaster, and some combination of Bethesda / Microsoft have completely abandoned it and lost any trust from me for future releases. Maybe they'll prove us wrong, but I'm going to continue to base my assumptions on their past history
The remaster was pretty bad, unoptimized and filled with bugs. Now more than a year after its release, it still hasnt been optimized. Furthermore, the game is in UE5 which to me and many others immediately makes it visually unappealing
Lol no it wasnt. The remaster was fucking amazing. The people that didnt like it are the people that never like anything. 80 metacritic score, and the only reason the user review is below that (by less than half a point) is review bombing by sweaty trolls. Even if you think the game has issues, in no way does it deserve a 1. Ill say personally ive encountered only a handful of bugs in over a thousand hours of gameplay. The original oblivion is comparatively a buggy mess.
I never rated the remaster nor would I give it a 1 if I did. But the fact is that when I played it, it was running pretty poorly on my pc. On the topic of the graphics theres little to debate here other than for me to express my dislike of UE5 graphics which you are free to disagree with
What I am disagreeing with is your base consensus that it was widely regarded as pretty bad. It was pretty widely loved.
When it comes to issues on pc, its so hard to quantify those because almost every pc is different. I tend to take those criticisms with a grain of salt for that reason. How many of the people complaining about performance issues are playing on actual potato pcs? Most people with reasonably high end pcs reported very few performance issues at all, not saying none had issues, but it was hardly the consensus.
I also think a good deal of those "complaints" from high end pc users are people with hang nails too that simply didnt play og oblivion on launch, and think slightly sub 60 fps on ultra during intense combat is the equivalent of the sun exploding.
Is it not because it is still running Gamebryo under the hood? It was some weird mix of still using the old engine for the game logic, but running the graphics through Unreal.
