Freshman moving in a Single in Currier Hall

I am a concerned parent
Does the single rooms have the following:
- Closet or Wardrobe to hang clothes?
- A Bookcase?
- A Dresser for more storage of clothes, etc. and will the dresser fit under the bed at Captains Height?
- A place to hang or stand a full length mirror?
Move in day is September 3, 2026
It would help to know these details.
Thank You.

Voice Lessons

Is taking voice lessons with two different vocal teachers doing too much? I really like both of them and they each have wisdom in a different genre of music I want to explore. I want to explore more contemporary & jazz music as well as continue with my more classical voice stuff. Definitely concerned with balancing two voice lessons on top of the already demanding Williams coursework.

Also, what is Samirah like as a voice teacher? Would you say I’d have to practice more outside of lessons (for most vocal lessons with other teachers you can kinda get away with not practicing…)?

Moving in alone as a freshman

Hey guys, I am starting my freshman year in Williams and for some unfortunate reasons my parents won’t be able to come in and help me move in. I am sending most of my stuff through the mail as I live more than 2000 miles away from Williamstown. Because of this I was wondering if there would be any student helpers around the mailroom who help with boxes, or at least any other type of help. I am not the strongest person so carrying three boxes to my dorm is one of my concerns lol.

Either way I know I will figure out a way, but any insights on how moving day was for students coming in alone would be really appreciated ;)

Help - Swapping classes during add/drop

I’m going to be a freshman in the fall and it took me this long to decide that i want to take a different class. Registration period already ended, should I wait until Add/Drop to change my classes or email professors and the registrar changes it?

Consulting and finance clubs for freshmen

Hey! Incoming freshman wanting to go into finance/IB. I’ve read about some clubs (like the Alhambra) here, but would appreciate more info on the recruitment process. Do they have interviews? How competitive are they? What qualities do they look out for?

Thank you so much! ☺️

rising junior whos dream school is Williams

I’m about to start my junior year and Williams is my dream school for a variety of reasons. For some background, I have a 4.0 uw and 4.4 weighted gpa, I’m wanting to major in art history (or double major with that and Econ), and I have interdisciplinary interests in both art history and law. Most of my ecs are supportive of my interests but I still worry I’m not doing enough as I know Williams is highly selective. Can any current students or those who got accepted help me understand what type of student they are looking for and the main things they value? What criteria do I have to fit?

Is there a reading crisis at Williams?

I have a son who is interested in Williams.

I recently read an article about the reading crisis at Amherst and am curious if the same phenomenon is occurring at peer test optional schools like Williams.

I want my son to associate with naturally brilliant kids who can read hundreds of pages of Kant and also solve Abstract Algebra proofs effortlessly. I do NOT want my son associating with prestige-obsessed midwit strivers who only care about looking smart.

Will Williams provide the intellectual environment that my son wants?

is a 300-level seminar too much for a freshman?

didn't get into my 100-level class and the only classes in that department (for my intended major/concentration) are 300 (no pre-reqs tho) and WSO says the profs are easy. would it be too hard? should i look for something else?

Dimensions of the hanging closet section.

I’m specifically looking for the width of the hanging closet section, for those that are the built-in ones to see what kind of storage boxes can fit at the bottom.

What furniture come in the freshman dorms?

Hello! I’m an Incoming freshman and I want to start planning my layout and I was curious what furniture is standard in double dorms? I think I have some sort of a clue but I want to be sure.

From what I know, we have:
1 Mini fridge
1 microwave
2 beds that can be lofted
2 Desks (but do they have hutches? and if they do are they completely solid on the back or is it just a few open shelves?)
2 Cabinet/armoir things (this one i’m not sure if it’s standard or if the room I visited just had these)

I’m in east for reference, if that changes anything

Thank you!

How was your Williams College experience?

Hello i'm a student considering schools for the Questbridge National College Match and wanted to get first hand experiences to help me consider schools!

Type of student: I don't care for greek life. I want to gain a supportive community of friends/connections! I love outdoor activities and quirky scenes. I will be doing premed but still want freedom in my academics. I am a hard worker but value relaxation days.

Questions

  1. How

    is the premed track

  2. ?

  3. What are pros/cons you've experienced?

  4. How accessible are jobs, internships, opportunities, etc.

  5. How is the social scene?

  6. What is the general political sentiment that most students/faculty hold? Do POC and Queer individuals feel welcomed and supported?

  7. How are the dorms and food? Is there really a food ordering system?

  8. Are there things to do around town?

  9. Describe the school in one word!

Opportunity for Students Interested in Political Reform and Community Activism

Mod-approved post

Hi, I'm a volunteer with the Young Forwardists, the Forward Party's youth committee. We are a volunteer network that seeks to revitalize politics through youth activism and empower young people to be community leaders while introducing grassroots activist opportunities. Our goal is to promote good governance and reduce partisan tensions through ethics, integrity, and compassion and promoting innovative and data-driven ideas.

We're seeing if any students would be interested in helping us start a chapter at Williams College. Chapters are centers for productive activism and provide students safe spaces for discussion, hosting events, solving polarizing community issues, and keeping local elected officials in check.

Here's more information about us, and there's other ways to volunteer besides starting a chapter: https://home.forwardparty.com/young_forwardists

If anyone is interested, feel free to reach out. Thanks for your time!

What is the deal with Investment and Consulting Clubs on Campus?

Hi!

I'm an incoming freshman and curious about what finance clubs are offered on campus. Which are the "best"? Which are more chill? Are they competitive? Can anyone join? Do you have to be an Econ major to join? Wondering things like these. Thanks!
