Stuff like this is why I'm fundamentally opposed to level scaling as a gameplay mechanic. If you put the time in to grind to a really high level, you SHOULD be rewarded for your hard work
Like it's fine for new game plus or something. But in a regular playthrough, if the enemy gets stronger whenever I do, then what's the point of getting stronger at all?

counteragument. Replayable Boss, like pokemon trainers, gets stronger every defeat with a max.
1 fight to advance the story, additional fights to satisfy the player

Something like that is fine because the entire game is designed around it. Every time you beat this guy, they get stronger.
What I don't like is when games just give you the illusion of choice. Like yeah I can technically grind for longer to level up more, but if all the enemies are also gonna be higher level then genuinely what's the point?
I mean sometimes you level up a skill tree and get new abilities so it's kinda worth it. But at that point, the level itself doesn't even matter. You're basically just unlocking a new ability which could be done any number of ways.
Basically I like the idea that if you spend extra time grinding, you eventually just get stronger than the enemies. It just makes logical sense to me.
I mean Solo Leveling managed to make a light nobel, a comic AND an anime out of this idea

I like it because very easy games get boring fast so they are unplayable to me. This way you can do side quests and still have fun
