Discussion Longtime 1PW user - still on V7 - have V8 question

I tried to upgrade to V8 a few years ago and ran into issues so gave up. I originally purchased a monthly 1PW subscription years ago on the Apple Store and that is what I am still using. I have 1PW on my iPhone and on my iMac. I sync via iCloud.

I received an email today that auto syncs will be phased out in early 2027 and various ways to migrate to v8.

Here's my questions:

Cam I just start from scratch with V8 as if I was a totally new user and import my data from a csv file that I can export from my desktop V7? I cannot find or access my Emergency Kit. Can I use the same email address? I do not want to try all the migration steps and end up frustrated like before.

Does V8 allow for a file export to a csv file like V7?

Is V8 interface vastly different than V7?

Is there any way to access your vault if there is no internet connectivity?

Can you still

I have thought about using Apple Passwords but there are limitations with the info you can store and also thinking about doing a family account for me and my spouse.

Appreciate feedback on best option for me. Thanks.

Feature Request 1Password is becoming "too helpful"? Can we request an opt out setting?

Long time 1Password user, thousands of items, software engineer, use the CLI daily. I love the product. But lately it is full of "helpful" popups and I can't turn them off.

Example: I'm on a site and need a username from a different item. I open the extension, search, click copy. 1Password pops up asking "do you want to save this site to this item?" No. I'm just grabbing a username. That's it.

Each time it is minor on its own, but there are so many now that they're getting in the way of just using the product.

Feature request: a setting to opt out of hints, tips, and suggestions entirely. Or better, if an account has been active for 5+ years, maybe assume they know how to use it.. offer those things to new users.

I picked 1Password because it felt like a tool for people who know what they're doing. Lately it feels aimed at the least technical user possible, and that's making me consider looking elsewhere.

Browser Extension I like the new 1Password "Universal sign-in"!

People always just post when they're unhappy about something, so I just wanted to take the time to post that I think 1Password did a good thing with the new "universal sign-in".

Yes, it sometimes is popping up on some website when it shouldn't, and hopefully they'll fix that. And for people who hate it, you can turn it off (Right click the 1Password icon -> Settings -> Autofill & save from the side menu -> Toggle off "Use the new autofill experience for sign in").

But I think it's a major improvement and I love having one consistent place on the screen where you click to login to almost any website, and it just logs you in (at least on the websites it works on). I think it's a nice improvement!

Discussion SSO

Stupid question:

We use Entra as IdP at our company. Our Entra Passwords were random generated and very strong, because our users always sign-in with Whfb or Secure Enclave Key (on macOS). Now we upgraded to 1Password Business. Business gives the opportunity to setup SSO with and IdP. But i think in our envoirement, it is useless? What i was thinking was, are other companys using simple passwords that users can recognize?
