Brother shh i run a 1000 account voting farm we get money from big corps to sway elections. If i had to farm my 1k accounts to 500 total id have to spend another 2 hours per account, think of my family.

u/KarthusWins HCIM Jun 05 '26

Did someone say big corps?

27

u/crabvogel Jun 05 '26

thats a regular sized corps

14

u/Couldbduun Jun 05 '26

We need a banana for scale to be sure

30

u/QuandaleDingleHere91 Jun 05 '26

I knew this was happening. King Roald has allowed the border from tutorial island to remain open for too long. We need stronger leadership that will close the border and deport voting bots back to tutorial island.

8

u/Behrry The Hive Mind Jun 05 '26

isn't there a voting poll on tutorial island? we need to confiscate it!

2

u/QuandaleDingleHere91 Jun 05 '26

Shit you’re right Roald is so corrupt the party is putting voting booths in the bot territory

Who’s paying you to vote no on leachfin sandwich?

2

u/Shookicity Jun 05 '26

Jokes aside I do wonder how much of this actually happens. It’d make sense that the richest 1% of merchers would do what they could to sway poll results if they had something to gain (or lose).

Nope haha their whole account is begging for attention. Finally had some here.

5

u/OneEnvironmental9222 Jun 06 '26

Thsi whole sub is just people that often dont even play begging for attention with really low-blow controversal "takes" or other weird things

97

u/Taurenkey Jun 05 '26

Accounts younger than a week shouldn’t be able to tell Reddit what to think. Change my mind.

Someone explain to me, the screenshots on his profile show "Rooster31", but that account's hiscores show a 156 total, what am I missing? Is it like a fake name runelite plugin, or a name changed account, given that screenshot is from April?

22

u/PM_Me_Cute_Hentai Jun 05 '26

His name TriggrzOSRS is in his profile as his username or whatever idk how reddit works but I just removed the osrs portion and found the account, maybe he named changed?

95

u/DialledFlare Jun 05 '26

according to wiseoldman, ‘triggrz’ used to have the names ‘joshhyyy’ and ‘dazzn’

when i look up ‘rooster31’ on WOM it says that there was an “archived account” (whatever that means) that used to have that name

the boss KCs on the archived account match pretty closely with the KCs on triggrz

which tells us a few things

  • OP has changed their name at least three times since late April, for whatever reason
  • OP is sub-2k total and has zero KC in endgame content while complaining on Reddit about noobs voting for endgame content

29

u/Ancient_Rex420 Jun 05 '26

Absolute classic lmao.

9

u/AncientElm Jun 05 '26

No, they are talking about Old School. 🙄

2

u/Turence Jun 05 '26

Ngl I have a 2300 iron and when newer players talk about the early/midgame I'm constantly surprised about new metas. I don't know what are the current frustrations about early/midgame. While it’s partially true, people who have “gone through it” will often try and keep certain stuff bad because if they had to suffer, so does the next person.

17

u/langile Jun 05 '26

Also good chance they went through it years and years ago. There's been so many changes and improvements, the landscape is very different. I'm one of those people, I haven't leveled an account through the early game since I made my GIM 5 years ago

Yeah there is having an opinion and stagnation because I suffered everyone else will and also ohh it doesn’t effect me so I don’t want dev time going towards it. Yes you’re right they have played a lot more but it doesn’t mean they don’t spite vote no. I usually skip if it’s something not relevant to me as a skiller or whatever. I could care less what the pkers and the rest do.

2

u/Thepsycoman Jun 06 '26

Counterpoint. Leagues.

My main is mid tier at best. Because I basically just don't play it. Sometimes I will get the itch but the grind is crazy and it doesn't last long.

But through leagues I've gotten to experience what end game has in store. Ngl I don't feel I'm missing out. But for others who that inspired them to want to do it in the base game, should their opinions also be seen as invalid?

2

u/Able-Young-2456 Jun 09 '26

Doing content in leagues, where you can turn on autoretaliate and kill many endgame bosses, is not a substitute for actually doing them

Dudes only like democracy when it benefits them.

Shocker

43

u/A-L-F-R-E-D Jun 05 '26

“The problem with democracy is that other people don’t believe the same thing I do”

No one really likes democracy, it just sounds nice. “Oh look, everyone gets equal voice how nice and wonderful our society is!” That goes out the window once the 51% of people disagree with them.

38

u/SophisticatedPleb Jun 05 '26

Nah, I could live with 51% of people disagreeing with me. But I'll never get to live in that reality. It's all sorts of 30% against me, 25% with me, 45% didn't bother voting. It's way too common for the outcome to not be representative of what people would actually choose if they all were presented the same info and opportunity

21

u/Lynixai Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

Just as a quick reminder, the UK vote for Brexit landed at 51.89% Leave, 48.11% Remain. I don't live in the UK, but I personally know a lot of people who didn't vote because they thought the Remain vote would be a sure thing.

It absolutely can and has happened in reality, multiple times.

16

u/aelam02 Jun 05 '26

And now the man that orchestrated it is leading the polls, lotta stupid people out there

16

u/Breddit2099 bumpin onions Jun 05 '26

That’s democracy. You can’t just omit certain groups because you believe them to be voting incorrectly.

That wouldn’t be democracy anymore

2

u/SaraphL Jun 05 '26

It is still a bit strange to me that mere ~52% of votes can decide such huge thing as leaving EU. To compare it with how OSRS requires a supermajority of 70% to pass, it feels like leaving EU should've been something that the population as a whole actually wants, not just barely crossing the half. The questionable thing about it being decided the way it was is that if you did the vote again, maybe it wouldn't pass again.

For the record, I'm not from the UK, so I have no stake in this. I'm just a distant observer.

I’m not going to pretend I have a solution because I don’t know but even I don’t feel good voting on content I haven’t done or im not super familiar with. A lot of players are thousands of hours away from doing content if they ever even get there

4

u/LukasSTM Jun 05 '26

They reworked the poll system to allow specific account types to vote, there were question only irons could vote and another only for people who engaged in pvp recently, the sailing questions required specific levels, why the hell dont they implement restrictions based on the poll content?

6

u/BioMasterZap Jun 05 '26

They do, but only as appropriate/needed. Most of the time it doesn't make sense to poll a narrow subset of players on things with wider game impacts.

There are also a lot more to consider than just "can you/have you done this content". For example, if a new weapon is being polled, even if you can't currently equip it, you'd likely be able to equip it in the future. And other players will still be able to use it in ways that affect you, such as against your in PvP or to farm things you are farming.

If you only ever ask the players who presently benefit, then that can get biased results. Like if they were to polling changes to the Fish Sack and only let players who currently own it vote, there would be a bias regardless if it were asking to give the Fish Sack +50 Str Bonus or to reduce the cost by half. So if the entire community gets to decide if the Fish Sack should be added as a cosmetic for 1K Pearls, why shouldn't the entire community not deserve a say in future changes?

12

u/ChipKellysShoeStore Jun 05 '26

They don’t jagex does

88

u/SoundOfShitposting Jun 05 '26

And max levels shouldn't be voting on early or mid game content since it's not for them either, it's a problem all round.

36

u/MezcalMoxie Jun 05 '26

I actually disagree because they’ve engaged with the content and know what they feel about it. I’ve maxed a few accounts and have thoughts on hunter rumors, chinning, etc… even if I don’t have any reason to do them anymore.

16

u/Tyjet66 Jun 05 '26

Most maxed non-irons intentional do not interact with most of the game.

23

u/omgfineillsignupjeez Jun 05 '26

only max cape irons should be able to vote (uim excluded)

3

u/pollinium Jun 05 '26

The UIM mod basically just gets it. I'd be totally fine trusting them to make all decisions about how UIMs interact with the game

→ More replies (1)

8

u/rubbishindividual Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

Max accounts were once low level accounts and have an informed opinion about the early game. Low level accounts, on the other hand, have never seen the end game.

9

u/alienware99 Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

People also tend to have the mentality of “I had to suffer and do it the hard way, so why should they have an easier & more enjoyable path”.

13

u/DapperSandwich Jun 05 '26

It is so tiring seeing this reductionist take continue to be parroted. "More enjoyable" is relative. There's been times that I've voted no to changes that would indirectly make some grinds easier specifically because I found that journey to be enjoyable and rewarding, and I wouldn't want to diminish that earned sense of accomplishment for others. That's not a crab in a bucket mentality, that's preserving what you liked so that it can be shared with others. Likewise, I've voted yes to other changes that have made some grinds easier because they were actual pain points that had negative impacts on the broader health of the game.

2

u/VorkiPls Jun 06 '26

There's also the underlying truth behind delayed gratification, friction leading to a payout etc. Everyone's line of acceptability is different, but we all know that the reason anything in a game feels good and rewarding is because you have to work for it.

Leagues is a perfect example of how removing that from the game would feel. Albeit an extremely rapid example.

31

u/Beechman Jun 05 '26

Most people do not "suffer" when playing the game. This argument is so disingenuous and it gets so old seeing it in every thread.

6

u/VorkiPls Jun 06 '26

Yeah this sub is just non-stop straw men or bad faith arguments (tbh that's reddit in general). Any intention of not outright buffing everything is so much easier to paint with this "you just want people coming after you to suffer as much as you have".

3

u/deylath Jun 05 '26

They sort of do. Much of this sub thinks maxing is totally part of the game and yet most people here would agree that agility/mining is dogshit, so there is a clear overlap of people who are suffering through something they hate yet they keep preaching maxing is meant to be done. Even most diaries have dogshit rewards so its really not worth for your average main to push skills even to 90s

8

u/BadPunsGuy Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

No one says maxing is meant to be done. It can be done if you want, but you absolutely do not need to max. That’s never been the case, at least in OSRS.

If you want to pvm only for example pretty sure you have access to everything with ~70 in all skills. You only miss out on the max cape itself and some achievement diaries before that. You don’t need either of those. Even as an iron there’s not any big reason that you need 99 mining or agility.

I feel like there is a bigger problem at hand with your comment which would be game creep.

If mid and early game content is not for max levels, why can they still do them?

On another note, wouldn't you want feedback from players who have spent time with early and mid game content to vote on these since they are more familiar and knowledgeable of existing flaws and things done well?

3

u/EmotionalHalf Jun 05 '26

I mean they might also just vote against QOL because fuck it they've had to endure through it too so why shouldn't you 😅 Most people vote pretty selfishly, at least that's what I've noticed living in a direct democracy voting on policies every 3 months

Aren't you a midgame andy, op? You posted about getting tanz fang and zenytes this week. Why should you get to vote on endgame content?

29

u/RB440 Jun 05 '26

Thinking the new player experience doesn't matter is how games die.

25

u/shal_ow Jun 05 '26

The new player experience has nothing to do with new players voting on changes made to end game content.

13

u/krystoh Jun 05 '26

Explain how the new player experience is going to be able to accurately decide on changes to end game content?

7

u/deylath Jun 05 '26

And its not even just new player experience. Despite the grindiness of the game, many people choose to start over as iron, maybe a 2nd iron for HC or some snowflake and its easy to recognize how much better the progression is vs when hunter was released and it was literal useless dogshit that unlocked an expensive ranged training method and nothing else.

We are 13 year past OSRS launch and its still trying to fix massive holes in its progression. Getting Brutus,Scurrius, Moons and Titans most definitely filled some holes. My guess is that fixing will not stop to be a concern even for the next decade, although with summer sweepups like this that might quickly change, but lategame for skilling is something that is still lacking, like no real reason to push above amethyst or hydra agility shortcut

We as a community should vote a representative that decides for us, like a president. I’m starting my campaign effective immediately, I promise everyone will get a purple next raids chest. I will lead everyone to the promise land of EoC!!

11

u/localcannon Jun 05 '26

Ah, voter suppression has hit OSRS again

2

u/omnicorn_persei_8 2305 Jun 05 '26

Must show gilenor passport to vote

24

u/Super_Siege_Mode Jun 05 '26

Kinda like saying 25 year olds shouldn’t be able to vote on retirement policies.

Why do you have no faith the 300 total accounts won’t get to endgame?

11

u/DapperSandwich Jun 05 '26

That's a false equivalence. That'd be more like if 25 year olds voted on changing which night at the old folks home was bingo night and which was bridges night. The 25 year olds do not participate in these events. They couldn't be reasonably expected to understand the impact the changes their voting on would have, specifically on those that do participate in bingo night that endgame content.

22

u/SoraODxoKlink ‘hands off’ ceo btw Jun 05 '26

If voting age is 18 and people live to 100, call it them having to experience 1/5th of life before getting a democratic opinion.

The equivalent isnt base 18s (that would be 432 total level btw) its them having 2.6m/13m experience in all skills, or base 82s; far too high, age doesn’t work for this at all.

23

u/TheFulgore Jun 05 '26

Because most of these accounts never make it to endgame historically speaking. In fact most never come close.

Uaing age as an analogy is just terrible lmao

The state of endgame does affect the early game experience even if you're not smart enough to understand why.

3

u/Global-Page-7091 Jun 05 '26

Lmao can you elaborate on this? I can’t think of anything major off the top of my head, so I’m curious how.

9

u/SushiAndCoochie Jun 05 '26

It’s changing the goals you wanna achieve/motivation to play. those long hours you spend planning and dreaming what to do when you once you get your levels high enough. Which skills you wanna max first, quest order you choose, unique items worth getting or not. Maybe someone wants more content, or less, or different reqs, etc.

6

u/Global-Page-7091 Jun 05 '26

That makes sense. Thank you for the response. Don’t understand why I was downvoted for asking a question. Guess the lmao was read as sarcasm, but I was genuinely curious.

4

u/SushiAndCoochie Jun 05 '26

Reddit is extremely bad at just answering questions. Plenty of shit I don’t understand why its a popular comment and I never wanna ask. Saying “not smart of enough to understand why” is lil peen energy. I’m sure if you just simply state why something is people will understand (But yes it was the “lmao” that makes it sound sarcastic lol)

4

u/Global-Page-7091 Jun 05 '26

The lmao was because of the “not smart enough to understand why”. I actually chuckled it was so f’n condescending.

4

u/chi_pa_pa Jun 05 '26

No, people usually do not understand when I simply state why something is. Instead they almost always completely ignore the explanation and reassert their original talking point with slightly different wording, or deflect towards a separate but equally wrong talking point. Often they do both and turn the conversation into a frustrating circular loop where they are just cycling through a handful of talking points and I am forced to explain and re-explain myself pointlessly while they ignore it.

My strat of just dropping my piece along with an insult is a product of efficiency. It lets people fill in the blanks with their own logic, making it more agreeable, and baits people into doing the explaining for me. This can goad the original person into agreement too because owning me is enticing. It can also provoke certain people into thinking about why I disagreed, which can be more effective than an explanation because people are more likely to hold an opinion they came up with themselves than one that was given to them. That's a pretty rare event though.

I realize this is bizarre, cynical, and terminally online behavior. Sorry about that.

3

u/SushiAndCoochie Jun 05 '26

I think your reverse psychology-esqe method works great lol. Sticks in people’s mind and they’re more willing to accept knowledge with the feeling they have a leg up on someone negative. I suppose it stems from a jaded outlook though, I feel people more willing to learn and have their mind changed are more “deserving” for lack of a better term. If people don’t wanna accept something that’s on them. But making people learn one way or another is very wholesome and nice of you

This guy is definitely angry. Let's laugh at him 🤣.

2

u/Rewnzor Jun 05 '26

If you pay, you get a vote :)

2

u/RaggleFraggle_ Jun 05 '26

I already did my chompy grind so others are not allowed to enjoy things now

2

u/HalcyonRedo Jun 05 '26

Says the whiny bitch who's only at Zulrah lmao

2

u/SlothyKong Jun 05 '26

i have always liked osrs because it's a fucking grind, unfortunately many updates are making grinds easier. i don't like the easyscape trend but it's what people want i guess.

2

u/Ancient_Rex420 Jun 05 '26

I don’t know if I agree, while on one hand I understand because those players are new to the game still and might not have a good outlook yet but on the other hand those players are also players who are playing and future updates shape their gameplay as well and affects them just the same.

Theres pros and cons to everything.

2

u/OwnUbyCake Jun 05 '26

We never should have voted. Should have left the game in a preserved state and never add anything. Only way to satisfy everyone and no one.

2

u/TexasRed6 Jun 05 '26

Be honest, you wanted to put 2100 total there

2

u/JoeriM Jun 05 '26

People with 300 total should be able to decide endgame content since they will eventually participate in it instead of the people that already completed said content

6

u/PROfessorShred Total lvl: 2200+ | Clogs: 600+ | 99's: 7 Jun 05 '26

How many people are going to grind out a fish sack now? I'm guessing very few, all it does is massively devalue those of us who did it before, purely for the love of the game.

Make a yellow fish sack for 500 pearls but don't decrease the normal one. It's a cosmetic item that adds no real usability to the fish barrel. It should be an item that few people have and only those willing to grind it out can flex it.

I'm not one of those players who thinks everyone should do it the hard way because I did to the hard way. The numbers just don't add up. Increasing pearl drop rates and decreasing cost makes it like 1/4 of the old grind. Increase the QOL by adding better mechanics or decrease the cost by making the items cost 20% cheaper I'm all for but adding higher drop rates on top of 50% the cost makes for almost no grind.

The fish sack like a champion cape is all about people doing the unessesary grind for the love of the game. You can make improvements but this just destroys what it means to earn the item.

2

u/wowurcoolful Jun 06 '26

The fish sack is a notable item to UIM, as it allows them to store the fish barrel in the PoH.

It's not necessarily cosmetic to others

3

u/SupermanThatNiceLady Jun 05 '26

OP has 100~ clogs btw

5

u/lum1nous013 Jun 05 '26

Wasn't it a fact that people that don't like PvP downvoted anything PvP related so no dev time is spent there?

I'm pretty sure those people were way ahead of 300 and they objectively did a terrible job

Irons shouldn’t be able to vote either imo

2

u/Strict_Baker5143 Jun 07 '26

Idk why people say stuff like this. Irons have a better idea of the balance of the game than anyone else.

3

u/yonnylol 2376 - Sailing bad Jun 05 '26

Honestly maybe they should separate the questions and put appropriate requirements to them like:

  • Should we add Jar of Bull Milk to Brutus’ droptable and make it a drinkable beverage? Requires 300 total level
  • Should we remove Chivalry? Requires level 2 Defence
  • Should we revisit Araxxor’s droptable so it doesnt drop stuff like BARKS (???????????)? Requires total level 1500
Or something like that. Same as they did with UIM only questions.

5

u/ulfalda Jun 05 '26

The difference with UIM is it exclusively effects UIM. End game content is something that does impact everyone, even low levels or those who don't plan to engage with it. If you rework a drop table to add/remove a drop, or change its rate, that impacts the market. Making content easier or harder will also impact the market.

I understand why people don't want a random guy with 30 minutes of play time voting, but let's also be real. Most people don't vote, and those who just started the game with no knowledge of anything are very likely not the ones voting.

OSRS is at its core an RNG-based game. Making drops easier changes the fundamentals of the game.

2

u/GreyGoose394 Jun 05 '26

Fuck it, ONLY let people with 300 total decide changes to end game content

2

u/Educational-Night878 Jun 05 '26

Game shouldn’t cost 15$ change my mind.

2

u/AbsolutlyN0thin Jun 06 '26

You're right! Should be $20

Ayo I made this template, really cool seeing it pop up in the wild. That is all, have a nice day :)

2

u/Soggy_Extension_9512 Jun 05 '26

This is posted all the time and the only thing that changes is the total level people think is fair. Move on

3

u/itslinas Jun 05 '26

Does 500 sound more reasonable?

1

u/PomegranatePro Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

More like 1200 Someone with base 50 stats (1200 total) has still barely played the game.

5

u/itslinas Jun 05 '26

Yeah I was not sure what base lvls would be then.

2

u/PomegranatePro Jun 05 '26

500 would be base 20

It's fine for people to vote on content they won't do, as long as they listen to the people who do that content. But "I won't do that" is a horrendous reason to vote no

And total level doesn't teach open mindedness
