Suggestion Jagex, please fix.
Also, while we are at it. Why do random NPCs get new hairstyles and our character do not?

More effort was put into Ros and Gwyna, the Barracuda Trial NPCs, than into the entire body type B.
They get cool hair, accessories, glasses.
We get two handed weapons that clip through our wrists instead of our hands.
It is a tragedy.

I haven't done the last one yet but talking to her at Jubbly Jive was genuinely a pleasure. The character looks great and the dialogue is very funny! Excited to get my sailing up more ⛵

Not excusing the lack of character customization, but people regularly point these NPC cases out without understanding the player character model is much more difficult to modify due to all the different animations, poses, cutscenes, clothes and armor, etc you character has to be able to do.
These NPCs stand in one place, have the same strict animation sequence and dialogue for all of eternity. Your player has to be able to do a lot more and so adding features there (without adding graphical bugs) is a lot harder.
It should still be possible and could still be worth it and I hope they include stuff like that in upcoming surveys so they can poll the level of interest in making improvements there.

IMO, updated player models and/or chat heads is one of the absolute least likely things to ever happen in OSRS, though I personally would be down with it. I just think Jagex is probably afraid to ever even pose the idea as there are probably a lot of players who would fear that either (A) this is a slippery slope toward deviating from the "old school aesthetic", or (B) associate any sort of "visual enhancements" with the HD update that was pretty much the immediate precursor to RS2's downfall (even though it absolutely had zero to do with RS2's downfall in and of itself).
And if they ever did poll it, I do think that >30% of the player base would vote no for those exact reasons, whether justified or not.

Requirements: None
Talking to the Makeover Mage gives a new option to ask if he needs help with anything. She says yes! He's been thinking about a way to incorporate hairstyle changes into her bodyswapping spell as the guards have complained about him wearing down the already broken Falador wall every time she needs a haircut. Going to the hairdresser, she says she has no idea about a magic spell, but she has heard of a Barberarian Styling method that doesn't use tools. We go to Otto's Grotto, asking about the secret method. As he begins explaining, Otto cuts himself off when he realizes for the first time that he's bald. He tells you "Go away, this is a terrifying development, I have to mull-it over". You return to the Falador hairdresser, who starts to get uncomfortable when you question her motives. It turns out, her and the other two hairdressers (Varrock and Cam Torum) have been pressured to keep haircuts conventional by an underground cabal. She, alongside the other 2 hairdressers each have 1 part of the key to open the cabal's meeting chamber in the basement of the Necromancer Tower south of Ardougne. You get the key, enter the basement, and are confronted by an acolyte of Spahg 'Eti. They have been secretly behind many of the weird events in the world of Gielinor: attaching adhesive to minecarts, casting teleblock spells on capes, stockpiling powerful range weapons in shrubery, and collecting dwarf heads from slayer masters. What for? Zamorak purports to be a lord of chaos, but his followers still adhere to hierarchies and rank. The truest disciple of chaos in the world is the Chaos Fanatic and his object of worship. They desire to summon a god of true chaos, of whom they see the Chaos Elemental as but an fragment of his power. They have gated the hairdressers from any aside from their approved styles because they have been working on a way to use each person's head as a channeling beacon to summon Spahg 'Eti. They were just putting the finishing touches on their research and they decide to use you as a test subject! A cutscene plays where your character cycles through dozens of hairstyles and helmet combinations, the rapid changes cause the world to shift around you, summoning the "True Avatar of Spahg 'Eti". It has the same model and attacks as the Chaos Elemental but colored red with yellow tendrils.Defeating the avatar disperses the cultists, allowing you wear whatever hairstyle is in the NPC files, with the caveat that you go bald whenever your hair should be visible.

This isn't broken. It's on purpose to prevent clipping.Â
However... Un equip the headband. Go to a barber / your poh dresser. Select the hair you want, then before closing the interface, equip the headband from your inventory.Â

This and make hair stick out under ancestral hat. It already does on dragon hai. Do this jagex so I can see my cute little braids, and my life is yours!!!

Please give us the hairstyle that's in panel 1. The only way to get that is to have headgear on while having the high pony hair.

same with afro's, why is my afro nerfed with almost all headgear but i can still manually unnerf it by going exiting the hairdresser interface by equipping the head slot item smh

NPCs can easily get custom hairstyles, because they don't have to be made compatible with every headgear in the game. As you are seeing in your original post.

Some hairstyles just have a different shorter version used when wearing head gear, it's not broken. Maybe it's done because it could cause weird clipping otherwise? I honestly prefer it the way it is
