How do I work
I feel like I am incapable of doing work. This has been an issue since I was a freshman in high school. I’m now on my first week of freshman year of college majoring in computer science and am already behind. I hate this about myself but no matter what I do l just can’t get myself to do the work. It’s not only school, but cleaning my apartment, getting a job; I feel like a bum and a failure. I’ve tried a bunch of medications but nothing has worked. Any advice?

Prescription meth helps

Meds unfortunately don’t work on some people

Turn "I should do task" into "I have to do task" (extrinsic motivation). If that's not possible, turn it into "I can do small portion of task". Do not imply larger task by saying "I'll get started by ...", ditch larger task altogether.
Also prescription meth.

"I have to" is problematic for the same reason as "I should". Should statements have a tendency to pile up and reduce motivation: too many "I have"s and the wall just seems too high to scale.
Better to say "I am <verbing>", or ideally "I get to <verb>." If you can pull off the second one and believe it, that is super powerful.

What do you like about computer science? Is it possible to find that in a different career, perhaps one more suited for someone with ADHD? You’re young enough to completely switch your path

Dude I’m like at a stage of life where nothing gets done. I’m mentally checked out (I’m not medicated and never been)

Been a lifelong battle for me. If meds don't work, try to psych yourself up. Try scheduling. Try time-boxing. Try task lists. Try depriving yourself of other stimuli until you get X amount of work done.

Fix what is bothering you so you could focus on the job. If you are just procrastinating... then try to just start and set some goals to motivate yourself.

Since meds are not working, (assuming you haven’t done this recently yet) you could try getting bloodwork to see if some deficiency or something else is causing your focus issues. Meds are powerful but still have their limits when your body is still constantly lacking something it needs to function like a human being. I would also try an ADHD focused therapist
