Lithyl Nightweaver here started a siege on my Throne City. My walls had 2 turns before they'd fall, ample time for me to reinforce with enough troops to almost outnumber her two to one.

My vassal decided they wanted to go to Valhalla so they aimed their army directly at the enemy, but in doing so they forced my garrison to sally out early! it wasnt much of a fight, the city was lost.

Even when I reverted the save and removed my garrisoned army the vassal entered the city and sallied out on my behalf again, losing the city.

I ended up having to spend the extra imperium to integrate the city early since they cleasrly werent to be trusted with governing themselves, it was that or declare war on them for being traitors.

It's mad that they're able to do this at all though, usually there's a tickbox if you want to join in a fight but I guess not in cities.

So. I’m a huge solo roleplayer. I’m making my first ruler faction and general world, and I’m, well, wanting to make lore about it and maybe post it for anyone who likes reading worldbuilding/looking at pictures :)
I could not find anything on it in the rules so I wanted to clarify to make sure I don’t break any.
Also, what would the best flair be for that? Faction, maybe?

Just what it says. I can’t stop playing architects.

Every time I think of a reason to try a different culture I find something that architects just do better.

I like pairing them with relentless Crusaders for extra imperium and build several monuments to get all the good stuff from each node.

It also gets teleporters unlocked much faster than just research alone - which for me is when the game changes every time.

The other society trait is flexible, but I like powerful evokers.

All their units are great in my opinion, but the cultivator is just top-tier for a tier one unit it’s amazing.

10 healing for themselves and the linked unit as well as dispelling a negative status effect and adding extra damage or weakness if linked to a guardian. And they do this at the start of every turn.

I usually link one to each important unit like a hero and then link the others to themselves so they get 20 healing and keep each other cleansed

Swift foot raptor mounts work great for this culture, along with sneaky and arcane focus. Slippery is invaluable.

Then just take whatever BattleMage from the tomes fits your affinity for extra DPS and they’ll be mounted too

All the affinities work great depending on your enemies. Materium is probably the most universal because physical damage is so prevalent
and not generally resisted.

I like running this one with a vampire ruler and all the necromancy / blood cultist fun. All your blood maggots zombies & skeletons & pain bringers do physical damage. it’s fun to watch the amount of damage a blood maggot can do.

Special mention, though to Astral with Evoker, hitting three units at a time with a bunch of lightning damage.

A wizard King elementalist using cloudburst so everyone is wet, just adds to the fun. Double fulmination after that is impressive especially if you have guardians causing lightning weakness.

Fire is really fun against the undead, especially if you take inner fire or other tome enchantments to make yourself fire resistant. Go full Pyro.

Used to play quite a lot before the most recent update. However, now, after the opening cinematics, the game simply does not function on my PC, FPS slow to a crawl, increasing ever so slightly when I turn down the settings. I've tried the v-sync and driver workaround fixes to no avail. If anyone has any fix advice please let me know.

I run linux mint, which it ran fine pre-patch on, and runs fine on my steam deck, but now suddenly is unusuable on PC.

Psionic Lord - telekinetic ruler type that uses psionics and telekinesis. Give him an ability that lets him lift up a unit and throw it at another one.

Could also add a Fey ruler type, though not sure what their kit would be.

I've been having a lot of fun with my recent Feudal Aristocracy Dragon Knight run, and it's gotten me thinking of the remaining base game cultures that still haven't received a rework (High/Barbarian/Industrious).

Barbarian I've done a few times and it feels rather one-note, but not necessarily bad. Industrious feels the same but I'd love to see a subculture with emphasis on constructs or similar, especially since we now have the Tome of Dungeon Depths.

High however...Man, High needs a rework. The aesthetic is neat, but the Awakening mechanic just does not feel fun to play with.

Curious to hear how people would approach subcultures for the 3 remaining base game cultures yet to be reworked.

So for rp reasons I wanted to make a shadow mystic build mystic mostly for the summoned creatures like watchers and the things with lots of eyes. I also didn't want to do undead (or at least keeping it to minimum)

Shadow though is very morale damage focused though and does seem to really synergize with the lightning heavy mystic summons.

Is there a way I can combine these two things and at least do decently against ai?

We all make our own heros, but does anybody else go into custom to make up villains/factions to fight against? Instead of random AI spots I made some custom rulers to put as the enemy, things and people id WANT to exterminate cuz it's my world and I can do what I want!!! Some examples being

1. Made the Warhammer Skaven (ratmen)

2. An evil wizard lord Pee Diddleston (cuz F that guy)

3. Plain human, Jeff The CEO (insert your hated sector here for what he's CEO of)

I think i played everything but the eldritchs, i just don't get them.

I'm not looking for a meta build, just for ideas, since i like to "craft" my factions with some context.

the thing is, i just played a necromancer run, so i want something different, but everytime i look at an eldritch being the only thing that ocmes to my mind is "be evil, pick darkness and go with undead" which is what i just played but as an undead dragon (it was peak tho).

so yeah, give me your ideas, you can also give me ideas for the world or enemies if you want to

I created an outpost and have it fully upgraded but the option to turn it into a city isn’t cropping up?

Looking to start up a game where we meet up semi-regularly and complete turns daily on a consistent basis. (Preferably like 2-3xs a day) Ideally I'm looking to have at max about 6 players including myself.

For players looking to flesh out their ideal builds rules will be put in place to discourage murder hobo builds and spamming. First 35 turns will feature a non-aggression pact amongst players. And to encourage diplomacy there will be the option to vote or veto on reasonable in-game rules or laws.

Communications will be handled via discord, and in the designated channels RPing is encouraged. Please comment here or DM me for information.

Edit: We will also be using a Paradox Mod called Tome Limit to expand tome choice, and diversify builds. Prepare for 3-3-3-2-1 for T-1 to T-5 tomes in order respectively. No transcended rulers, but pre-prepared heroes are welcome.

I think that's the name. Its included in Exp Pass 3 and appears that you can only get it if you buy the pass. I can't afford that presently but I'd be happy to buy the bits separately (THrones of Blood please!). But doesn't sound worth it if i cn't get this. Might as well wait. Thoughts?

I've been playing AOW4 since the release without any issues. However with my last 2 saves I am well into a game and after pressing End Turn, the game crashes to the desktop. No mods are being applied. Any suggestions are very welcome.

I did try file verification and reinstall, but game still crashes after the same End Turn process.

I've been wondering what are people's opinions on focusing on 1 or 2 affinities vs hitting 4+?

I know, I know, you can make pretty much anything work in singleplayer, but indulge me.

Even with Conqueror Nomads, binding the Leviathan was a pain in the ass with all of the glitches, but it ended up being my best path to victory since I wouldn't shake Symon's hand and he was way off in the corner. I had to squeeze one of my cities onto a small peninsula and do a water province binding because Merlin ended up having the Leviathan tail nearly surrounded (but nearly doesn't count!). You really ought to be able to at least set a bounty for binding on this scenario, it's frustrating feeling like you're the only ruler with your eye on the big, looming ball.

Mental note for the future, giant king and nomads is a clunky combo because your cultural healers can't move your giant with their healing windpull, and if they can't pull (even if you do the trick of being adjacent so the target doesn't move) the game just flat out won't let them heal.

I just finished a run with a build that I was trying to buff up dragon units as much as possible. I just want to know if I can add anything else or is there better factions/tomes/etc that I can replace to make the dragons units better.
