Extar ep9 foldability ?
Disclaimer: I’m a noob to all this and I don’t have space/access to make a firearms workbench
Just purchased an ep9 because I was looking for a reliable out the box pcc/AR9 concept for less than 600 🫘. After thinking I’ve done all comparative research, I pull the trigger, but then realize almost every form of it folding requires some sort of dremel work (at least so far). And to add salt to the wound, I see that Panzer dropped the AP9 recently and now I’m second guessing my purchase.
First things first, anyone found a way to make an ep9 foldable without having to dremel that bolt?
Secondly, anyone try out that AP9 from panzer?
Thirdly, with the price point of the Extar, is there anything out there that compares and holds up within the AR9 space? Not to say that the polymer is a deal breaker but if I can get ep9 reliability out of an AR9 with PSA px9 price point/look then I’m all game 🤷🏾♂️.

I used to like the idea of folding stocks but very few actually fold things enough to be worth it, and AR folders are not them, they will double the width of the gun and people forget thwt in bags, making something twice as wide relly makes it more difficult to conceal.
If your goal is as concealable as possible, id suggest equipping a 5" AR pistol with the HBPDW brace from SB Tactical.

And with that combination you have made your gun bulkier, and removed the recoil reducing mechanism the EP9 relies on.
It's like trying to put a truck bed on a Corvette. It can be done, but it's a pretty bad idea.

Foxtrot mike can be had for less that $600. I went with foxtrot over extar simply because I hate the way the extar looks lol. They do also make a folding lower but its about 70-100 more if I remember correctly. I bought the lower and upper separate for a total of $552 and havent had any issues, well over 1k rounds about half with subs and suppressor.

Just checked, about $375 folding lower, $246 5 inch upper or $261 7 inch upper. Slightly over budget but id recommend fm over any other 9mm ar myself.

The Extar has a proprietary buffer mounted tube so there is no one making folding stock hinges for it.

I don't have an actual answer for you, but imo folding is not all that important outside of a few very specific use cases. It's already <24" long which will easily fit in smaller spaces. And in practice you'll probably never actually be shooting with the gun folded. I've tried that in competition with my Scorpion and it's super awkward.
