Question Creating a Reddit account for an ARG, I seek advice

I want to create an alt account for an agr, basically a reddit and tumblr account from a person thats been dissapeared for a while and their posts are the only proof of their existence and the existence of witchcraft in a smalltown. Its mostly archival stuff for a bigger project I'm working on. For more details this character works at a library as an archivist, guarding a small collection of old books about a forgotten witch coven. I want this account to feel real and that they interact like anybody else, But I'm worried about the karma needed and if joining real disscusions could look like I'm tampering the karma system. How can I avoid this? fwhat are some good places to engage with the community without making the subreddit mad? Please keep in mind I dont use reddit that much unless its for asking questions so this is still a bit new to me ;; Also, can I delete/hide this post once I got the answers I need?

Update [END] The Gate Complex is sealed.

It's over

After several days of puzzles, logs, terminals, and more or less questionable commands, the final sequence has finally been triggered.

The ARG is officially over.

Thank you to everyone who took part, whether you made it all the way to the end or simply spent some time exploring the world, reading the logs, or talking to the AI.

I especially enjoyed seeing some of your conversations with the system. Between the serious attempts to solve the puzzles and the people asking the AI about completely unrelated things, there were some pretty unexpected moments. šŸ˜‚

And congratulations to everyone who got close to the end. Some of you had already figured out a huge part of the puzzle, but got stuck on a small syntax detail or one missing piece.

And of course, congratulations to u/Frequent_Concept_435, who officially becomes our Arbiter. šŸ†

They managed to work around the terminal's issues, inspect how it worked, piece together the different clues, and ultimately find the command that led to the conclusion.

I especially liked the way they stayed in character right until the end by asking the Chimera for its consent before taking the final step. Honestly, it couldn't have been a better way to end the ARG.

Thank you all for taking part in this little project. It was a mix of puzzles, CTF elements, storytelling, and AI, and seeing players take the investigation in completely different directions was probably one of the most interesting parts for me.

For those wondering what was actually behind all of this: maybe one day I'll make a behind-the-scenes post or video and show how it was all put together, some of the hidden lore, how the terminal was built, and a few of the best moments from the ARG.

But for now...

Gate Complex: Sealed.

The Chimera is a perfect synthesis. šŸ‘ļø

I'm fairly new to this subreddit but I found this video about a year ago along with this website tied to it. It starts as a normal skyrim video then it slowly devolves into some ai gaining awarness that they are not real and it has this site attached to it but ive seen almost no one talk about it. been stuck on my mind since finding it and got no idea where to start

Project: no.Persona

Type: ARG / Interactive Narrative / Virtual Music Project

Status: Ongoing

I'm introducing no.Persona, an ARG built around a fictional virtual music project and the digital world surrounding it.

At first glance, no.Persona looks like an electronic music project: original tracks, music videos, visualizers and short-form videos.

But the music is only one part of the project.

The videos, characters, transmissions, visual material, social media accounts and other pieces of content are all part of the same fictional narrative. Information is deliberately fragmented across the project rather than being presented as a conventional linear story.

The idea is to discover the story by following the material, connecting recurring details, investigating the different pieces of media and figuring out what happened to the people and entities behind the no.Persona identity.

There isn't a traditional narrator explaining the lore to you. The audience has to reconstruct it.

Some content functions as music.

Some functions as narrative.

Some functions as evidence.

And some things may not make sense until you find something else.

Where to start

The main archive is the no.Persona YouTube channel, where the music, transmissions, narrative videos and Shorts are being collected:

https://youtube.com/@no.persona_music

You can also find no.Persona across Instagram, X and Facebook, where additional pieces of the project and its world will appear.

If you're interested in ARGs, unfiction, cyberpunk, electronic music, digital mysteries or worldbuilding, I'd love to hear what you make of it.

The signal is active.

// END TRANSMISSION

found this weird "KODAKPROJ" link on Pinterest, feels like a new ARG?

Hey everyone, I was scrolling through Pinterest and found a link to a PostImg gallery called "KODAKPROJ." At first glance, it looks like a standard Y2K aesthetic photo dump, but the details are honestly pretty creepy and feel way too deliberate to just be a casual photoshoot.

The gallery has four low-exposure, webcam style flash photos of a girl with red hair. The angles are super distorted and uncanny, giving off a really unnerving vibe.

The Weird Details:

The gallery description literally says "restless, uncanny, looking at me through the blinds. do you recognize me?"

The file names are what made me think it's an ARG. The dates are all over the place. Two files are labeled 2006 and 2007, but another one is literally dated in the future (20260619).

It feels like some kind of weird timeline puzzle or narrative glitch. Has anyone stumbled across this creator on Pinterest or TikTok yet? Let me know if you spot anything hidden in the images or metadata!

Other Found a way that helps stop AI from instantly decoding ciphers.

Heya, i think this will be a lot of help to some people, and i came across this while messing around with making a substitution cipher that is based more on phonetics instead of direct spelling. The code was

'(°* 1: _=^_>#°@|%:/ ^)>|+^>|°=' which is supposed to mean log 1. unauthorized activation, but it is spelt. 'LOG 1: UNAUTORIZED ACTIVASHUN' (if i did this right lol)

This seems to really trip up AIs and make it harder for them to solve the cipher, at least with the small amount of testing i've done. I dont really do ARGs that much, so i can't say how helpful this trick actually is, or how coherent my code is, but its worth testing further.

edit: with a little bit of further testing with this cipher, sometimes the AIs will straight up go into error mode and say that the message is 'harmful' and won't reply, but i think that has more to do with the choices of characters i'm using

If you look up the term ā€œblood trust guiltā€ on YouTube you see many things like Christian stuff. But also more nerdy stuff like Hazbin Hotel, game lore, and cool music.

What’s going on here?

Help me find this lost video

About 6 years ago I saw a YouTube post, I thought it looked interesting as it was missing persons related so I clicked it. It ended up being one of my favorite plot twists and just cool YouTube videos ever. Ever since then I have been unable to find it again and I feel crazy.

Some things about it
I remember there was a person in a picture and everyone was looking for them, whether they were a missing persons related or just never existed I can’t remember. The video went through how Reddit and the internet found where the picture was taken, when it was taken, etc. but they were never able to find the person in the photo. They talked and had interviews with Redditors who helped find this person. The picture was in Japan I’m not sure where but it was a Japanese man and it was an old picture as well. The end of this YouTube video the guy doing the whole voice over and narrating this video reveals that his voice was ai this whole time (which 6 years ago shocked me). I’m like 95% sure this was an arg but I have been looking for this for years and I’ve had no luck finding it again

I was watching some funny videos on YT and saw a random video in the recommendation sidebar. It had only 29 views and was about a strange diary. I checked the channel, and it was recently created on August 23, 2026. It has seven videos, all about the strange diary.

LEVEL 1 — First 20 people who decode it get in.

How this works

• Get the message out. It contains your instructions. Follow them exactly — Level 2 comes from there, not from me in this thread.

• Solve time is logged from post timestamp. Fastest clean solves get named in the edit.

• Nothing about the method in the comments. Say ā€œinā€ if you cleared it and nothing else.

• No hints will be given. Everything you need is in the file.

One person will finish all six

Question I want to start an ARG beginning with a Reddit post, where should I go?

Title mostly explains. The character finds a seemingly ancient text in an unknown language and is searching for help. Nothing but an explanation of his discovery and a roughly translated title will be provided in the first post. Which communities should I look into for the initial post?

Other Yall think a arg where every like 2 weeks a actual random person gets the game and has like a very distorted version would be funny?

Like, imagine ship wrecked, but 90 other people got a normal copy but one random person gets it in like the arg version, ik it would be kinda impractical but it would be really funny for some random person to make a real video about it

Discussion Possible Wendell Slone arg??

Basically, another user in this subreddit commented about a new arg possibly appearing. Curiosity kills the cat and I kill my boredom. Checking out the account and the video the user put (because the account only posts about the Appalachian trail, and suddenly, theres a video titled "The best fan in the world" and its a video of a fan rotating and then towards the end the lights turn off-ish. Theres also some sort of audio in the background slowed down, so I cant tell if its a voice or if its a music)

I then notice the account has a shop, and inside it, theres a book to buy and a gmail that says beside "Questions? [insert the gmail] - a real person answers" and i believe that is a LIE. So i decided to see for myself and send a gmail to the account.

Now about the video, while I want to speed it up, Im unable to, so i asked my friend with outube premium to speed up the video to 3.0x (because without youtube premium the max is 2.0x)

The site: Link

The weird video: Link

The account: Link

Now I wat to get ot the bottom of this!!

Question A strange internet radio station

Hello! I didn't know where to post this, but I think r/ARG is the best fit. A couple of days ago, as usual, I was browsing the internet for something interesting and ended up on a list of internet radio stations to listen to something interesting. After wandering around for about 30 minutes, looking at different radio stations with different genres, I came across one that stood out from the rest. Its name was distinctive, and the only tag it had was ā€œAlternativeā€. When I started listening, I heard only a rhythmic, generated tapping sound and a faint whistle. And about 5–6 minutes later, I heard a strange squeaking and grinding noise. It didn’t look like interference, and I decided to look up what it might be, and I came across SSTV technology. After downloading one popular program, I started waiting to see if there might be a repeat of what I had heard. To my surprise, after about 7 or 10 minutes, the sound repeated. At that moment, I stepped away from the PC and missed part of it; when I came back and heard something that sounded similar to that screeching noise, I frantically launched the program, and after some time of listening, it rendered this image for me. It was this image with text. What does all this mean, and what could it be? Why even post something like this online?

Trailhead Vymara

To start, I would like to preface that I am not apart of this ARG nor do I truly know if it's an ARG, but this is incredibly interesting to me and I don't know where else to put it.

Yesterday, I had been scrolling through r/drugs and had stumbled upon this https://www.reddit.com/r/Drugs/comments/1vwget9/someone_sold_me_vymara_at_a_party_in_la_i_thought/

While scrolling through the comments, (I believe it to be near the top now) a user named opman4 links this guy, https://www.reddit.com/user/Direct-Bunch-4756/

He is incredibly interesting. From what I've gathered, he truly does know what he's talking about and states to be a botanist. Here is his first post of his discovery of the plant https://www.reddit.com/r/PlantIdentification/comments/1v5ue86/preliminary_observations_on_an_unidentified/

Over his next posts, a lot of information is introduced and I will try my best to summarize but it may be simpler to simply look at his posts. Upon finding the plant, he then attempts to post to r/PsychedelicStudies, with his post still being under moderator screening. He then spends a decent amount of time testing it and talking about it with people until https://www.reddit.com/r/Researcher/comments/1vak7pi/i_think_i_misunderstood_what_i_was_studying/, where he states it to either be (from what I can gather) integrating itself into the environment and infecting other plants, or be a singular organism in which all the surrounding plants are it and it's spreading. He then states https://www.reddit.com/r/plantbiology/comments/1vbcu87/new_finding_in_plant_communication/ that within a certain range, the plants can synchronize and "communicate" with each other. Here he states it to be hallucinogenic https://www.reddit.com/r/Researcher/comments/1vdxeoq/vymara_chemical_analysis_update/, but not via any known chemical. Here he states it to be incredibly greedy to light https://www.reddit.com/r/labrats/comments/1vdxuhd/measured_unusually_high_photosystem_ii/ and explains how it has an extraordinary ability to get energy from the sun if I understood it right. Here he states it to be possibly carnivory of mammal blood https://www.reddit.com/r/plantScience/comments/1vm46ap/could_this_qualify_as_indirect_plant_carnivory/ .

And then here it starts. He attempts his first self experiment with the plant. https://www.reddit.com/r/Biohackers/comments/1vmrnw1/i_began_limited_selfexperiments_with_a_crude/ he states it to possibly contain 3 active components and also states some effects to have shown presence past its extermination life. Here he tracks himself on consumption, stating some remarkable claims as to what the effects of this plant had on his endocrine markers. https://www.reddit.com/r/QuantifiedSelf/comments/1vmsjri/n1_i_tracked_my_endocrine_markers_after_a_small/

And the craziest posts start here. https://www.reddit.com/r/Biohackers/comments/1voooli/n1_selfexperiment_vymara_appeared_to_close_my/ the plant shows to increase tissue regeneration https://www.reddit.com/r/immortalists/comments/1vopdt8/vymara_prevented_cellular_aging_in_human_cells/ the plant shows to be able to slow cellular aging (crazy claim)

And then here https://www.reddit.com/user/Direct-Bunch-4756/comments/1vwu4iq/she_is_beautiful/ (beware I opened this at 2 am last night and thought it was a terrifying doll smiling while hidden in a hedge, it is nothing more than a dark photo of the plant). In reply to a deleted comment from a deleted user, he states the following: "I have been enlightened by her. I wish you could say the same. Him and I have been in contact. And no I do not need to share her with you. YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF HER"

Alright with him covered now we can move on to r/vymara. It was created by u/InformalOpportunity, a long time reddit user. Here is his first post on vymara, also the same time he created the subreddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/vymara/comments/1v6pqpl/mystery_drug_from_my_nephew_looking_for_similar/

He talks about his 15m nephew who becomes a user of the drug, acting odd, smiling all the time, driving to the mountains alone, and stops doing the normal things he used to do. His nephew becomes more distant, and then his next posts begin.

https://www.reddit.com/r/vymara/comments/1vb8l17/im_not_kidding_anymore_dude_they_keep_taking_the/ He starts talking about "them" "they" taking posts down related to vymara. He then posts https://www.reddit.com/r/vymara/comments/1vc8lz9/new_info_found/ talking about an insta post (context in post)

He then replies to this https://www.reddit.com/r/whatsthisplant/comments/1vbij8b/comment/p0zh6v4/?context=3 a deleted post which I sadly missed of a apparently insane looking photo of vymara, posted by KrakenSlayerre a now banned user.

Then this post https://www.reddit.com/r/vymara/comments/1vsu5ed/correlated/ . A video of a crypted screaming, from what I could understand it being near vymara (if I forgot to mention, this is all taking place in socal).

Then this https://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/1vu078u/wake_up_vymara_isnt_a_drug_its_a_recruitment/ (context in name)
And then these posts on the crypted's descriptions https://www.reddit.com/r/HiddenRealms/comments/1vu14dt/i_watched_all_the_creature_videos_so_you_dont/
https://www.reddit.com/r/ParanormalActivity/comments/1vwubok/everyone_keeps_asking_what_the_vymara_creatures/

Here is more conspiracy https://www.reddit.com/r/vymara/comments/1vwucxt/the_government_doesnt_need_to_hide_vymara_youre/

And then here, https://www.reddit.com/r/vymara/comments/1vyos41/where_are_all_the_accounts_going/ where he starts talking about the previous mentioned KrakenSlayerre and how he kept telling him to not worry.

And finally the most recent post from 6 hours ago (as of writing) https://www.reddit.com/r/vymara/comments/1vz6ik5/i_think_further_testing_should_be_done_before/ is https://www.reddit.com/user/Direct-Bunch-4756/ commenting on the vymara subreddit for the first time where the most interesting part of this all that I can tell is included.

bfb0cfd2-1e7a-497f-9e1f-11556df2d848

This is stated at the end of his post. This is all the information I have gathered so far on this. This is incredibly interesting to me because of direct-bunch-4756's knowledge on botany.

Edit 1: New website and instagram I just found https://www.instagram.com/hashtagvymara/ https://hashtagvymara.com/

Trailhead Evilstick Historian

Evilstick Historian Channel

Evilstick Historian is an ARG based on the Evilstick incident of 2014 when a woman walks into a dollar store and gets a terrifying toy for her child.

At first, Evilstick Historian made informational, video essay style videos about the Evilstick. Things start going wrong when she makes her own DIY Evilstick and is seemingly being haunted by a ghost named ā€œEmmy.ā€ Throughout the series, it’s implied Evilstick Historian is not as good of a person as they say they are.

Looking for a first ARG that requires intermediate knowledge with decoding and the sorts.

i'm trying to get into doing ARGs as a hobby, but i can't seem to find where to start one.

i'm looking for something that actually requires a good amount of computer knowledge to solve. not just basic ciphers or finding hidden text, but stuff involving decoding, steganography, file analysis, metadata, reverse engineering, programming, weird file formats, websites, and potentially having to make your own tools/scripts to solve parts of it.

basically, i want something where being good with computers actually gives you an advantage.

i'm pretty comfortable with computers and programming, so i'm looking for something difficult that i can really sink my teeth into. i'd also be interested in ARGs that use obscure technical stuff that most people wouldn't immediately know how to solve.

where would be a good place to start looking for something like this? are there any currently active ARGs that fit this kind of difficulty?
