I’m fed up
I feel like every single day, I’m just getting more and more irritated. It’s THE FIRST OF SEPTEMBER! This is absolute BS. Sorry not sorry but this is a massive fail. I don’t need to be schooled on the BBB or staffing issues or clarification, I just need to vent. (I’m also sick of the censorship in this thread, why can’t I vent to fellow students?! I know this‘ll get taken down in a few hours because oh no, I’m crap talking about ASU.) Make it make sense. I’ve been checking on the finances tab day in and day out, waiting for updates, BEGGING for updates. I literally can’t fix my car until I get this money. I’m so screwed. I’ve been car-less for weeks and it’s driving me mad. I miss my independence. I miss having the privilege to drive myself to work in the damn morning, to drive anywhere I want whenever I want. My first paycheck from my new job doesn’t hit until September 15th...When I called the financial aid office and asked about a timeline, I finally was like, “Okay so now what, is there a possibility we could be waiting until December?” Her response, “I don’t know, I hope that isn’t the case. Our team is working blah blah blah.” I don’t understand why they can’t just prioritize undergraduate students who have LITTLE to ZERO changes. I know for a fact that I have zero changes to my FA package. I don’t understand why that can’t be expedited. It doesn’t make sense for me to wait when the numbers are going to be the same. SAME for other students in the same boat like ughhhh.

If this is related to FAFSA-related funding, one of the 'cornerstones' (I use this term so loosely, just because what even exists anymore) is that it is a 'First-in, First-Served' and 'No VIP Tiers' system. So, for ASU to continue accepting student loans, they have to follow the process.
There is also a second thing that not many people have talked about, and so far, no one (Inside Higher Ed, Chronicle) has been able to get a good answer from the DOE: it isn't like you do a FAFSA and the University just knows what you have. This data has to be transferred from the Department of Education to the University.
Your Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR, sometimes jokingly referred to as your Eye-Sore). It has been transferred and verified.
Everyone is assuming the DoE has transferred them all - but they clearly have not. Additionally, it is assumed ASU has your final ISIR, which we don't know. Since they are still processing you. I'd lean towards no.
All that to say, it is not like they can generally just move you up in the system - it is much more like 'this student is finished, now displaying the second student' but on a much larger scale.

All that to say, don't hate the messenger. If you want something done about this, write your Congressional Representatives, using constituent services, NOT the general contact, and let them know what is going on.

I'm still waiting for my corporate sponsored student aid (SCAP) and I completed and submitted my FAFSA the same day it was available.

No, i was on uber scholarship. I didn’t take any loans but they were not able to complete my fasfa review for my uber scholarship to kick in. So to save my self from having to pay for the classes they recommended that i drop and start in session B.

Same! I had to drop everything because I’m not sure my classes will be covered and can’t afford to get stuck with the bill. Ridiculous.

My summer loans got reduced completely and I now owe my entire refund of 4,000+$. On top of that fees accrue every month. Financial aid office said I can appeal fees if I’m 3k and under while student business said I had to pay the entire amount. Does anyone know what they’re talking abt anymore

I can’t even get ahold of someone to ask what’s happening with my fin aid. Doesn’t matter what time of day I try I’m always 300-1000th in line. Not feeling motivated to start assignments if I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to stay enrolled.

Yup, this is an all-time fumble by this university and at this point we are past leniency and understanding imo. The university is dropping the ball and the lack of transparency and movement surrounding the issue is disgusting.
We are at the point too where this isn't as simple as "oh this is a nationwide thing" because students from other universities have confirmed in student loan threads that disbursement happened at their schools already (saw someone mention UofA had no issues this year).

It’s no a university thing, it’s a Department of Ed thing. ASU has been more ill prepared due to simple numbers. The systems in place are meant to handle 200,000 plus students and all the things ASU has created. As for UofA search their subreddit it won’t let me copy and paste but they have it too. Only a few universities have avoided the worst of it.

Here's a question: why do I get more information about this from a Redditor than I do from the school itself? The lack of transparency is what is pissing people off. That's an ASU issue - widespread issues aside, ASU's comms surrounding this have been atrocious and negligent.

I’m graduate and there should have been no changes for me. Fortunately, they emailed me six days ago about my loans processing through them. Bad news is it hasn’t changed on My ASU (step 2) and I’m not sure which one to believe
