Nearest cinema
Hello! I'm going to be going to uni soon here and I was wondering where a big cinema was? There's a movie I want to see that gets released in Autumn and I couldn't find any cinemas that would likely show it outside of Cardiff. Please may someone let me know my options? For context, the movie I want to see is Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe

There is a Vue cinema in Carmarthen. You can catch the T1 bus to get there.
Most films can be seen at one of the 3 local cinemas. -Commodore -Arts Centre -Libanus (a short train ride away in Borth).

Yes this! Also if you're under a certain age you can get a bus travel pass online which makes all bus journeys £1

Depends if you’re travelling by train or driving. I don’t live in Aber but had a child at uni there. They always said that getting to Shrewsbury then Birmingham was always easier than Cardiff by train, but if driving, they’d go to Swansea or Cardiff.

If you want a big cinema but not a big drive carmarthen is pretty good. Depending on what the film is it could be on at Commodore or the Arts Centre so worth keeping an eye

This requires gambling on a train ticket for the slight chance that a dilapidated train will be functioning or available to get you to Shrewsbury.
Far safer (and cheaper) to get the T1 to Carmarthen and connect with a GWR rail service.

Yeah - they did have some horrendous train journeys to be fair! Lots of cancellations mid journey and trains just being cancelled once there were on them and then being dumped at random stations!

Tell me about it! My husband works in the south of England and his weekly train journey there and back is horrendous. Often 9 hours, and mostly on several coaches.

Your nearest big cinema is probably Carmarthen vue. But it’s not impossible that the university arts centre might show it, I remember them showing a lot of more niche films when I was living there. It might be worth emailing them to ask if they’ll be showing it

The local Cinema's are the Commodore Cinema and the Arts Centre Cinema.
The Arts Centre frequently shows international Cinema including anime features, and Commodore has done more niche screenings in recent years. Both did Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man, as well as online-indy driven projects like Iron Lung and Digital Circus for example. However I'm not sure if they'd do Gundam.
It's worth keeping an eye out though since the Kotatau Film Festival stops by the Arts Centre around October time, and they did have Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom in their 2024 line up. The Commodore also announces their programming a few days before so you can also get last minute surprises in their listings.

Keep an eye on the arts centre cinema, they sometimes show things you wouldn't expect
