Rants Red’s Gym
I want to come here to rant because I don’t know where else to voice my frustrations about this. I’ve been coming to red’s almost daily for 6 years now and I used to work here years ago. I do love this place because the facility itself really can’t be beat. It’s a great gym and has all the amenities you need. However, the people of reds are a whole different topic of conversation. First of all I want to say that the snack bar staff that work the closing shift are almost all rude and completely lack any customer service skills whatsoever. That’s not the point of me posting this though. Many of the people that go to reds are some of the most rude, inconsiderate, and discourteous people you’ll ever come across in your life (there are many great people here as well but it doesn’t seem like a majority). Good luck with ever hearing “excuse me” or “thank you” or “sorry about that” or literally anything like that. I literally don’t even know how to describe the people here but sometimes I wonder if these are even real people or if they’re just NPCs that spawn in just to try to ruin your day. I mean these people that I’m talking about completely lack the most basic bare minimum common courtesy and manners, it’s insane. Anybody who goes to reds and is a real person will know what I’m talking about. And I think my biggest pet peeve is that nobody here knows how to walk down a hallway or around a corner without bumping into you or just getting in your way for absolutely no reason. Like if everyone would just walk on the right side there wouldn’t be a problem, but you can’t go to reds without someone blindly storming around a corner and bumping into you at least 2 or 3 times, and 99% of the time they won’t say excuse me or sorry (even if you always do). Most of the time they’ll just look at you like you’re the dumbass. Not to mention how often people like to stand in the middle of walkways in the most obnoxious way possible, straight up going out of their way to be in the way. I know I’m not crazy and I know there’s someone out there that knows what I’m saying. All this being said, the place itself is great, although it has definitely gone downhill in the last 3 years.

Recommendations Catalytic Converter fix, looking for best options in the area
I have a clogged rear cat converter on my Kia and I'm looking for the best recs around town. Kia Sterling priced a replacement at 5k which obviously isn't happening. Anyone had similar work done? If I can't get a good price on a replacement I'll consider just removing the cat entirely, but as much as I'd rather not do that, anyone know if shops in town would even consider doing that for me? Maybe someone can tell me if that's a horrible idea, not much of a mechanic myself.

Acadiana AMA 35M | Looking for my people — metal, guitars, horror & good conversations
Hey Reddit. I’m 35 and figured I’d put myself out there because lately I’ve realized how easy it is to become isolated as an adult.
After going through a divorce, I lost touch with a lot of people I used to have around me. Life changed, friends drifted, and somewhere along the way I went from having people to hang out with to spending way too much time by myself.
I’m actually a pretty laid-back, easygoing guy. I can be quiet at first, but once I’m comfortable I’m sarcastic, goofy, and love talking about random stuff for hours. I’m not looking for a bunch of superficial conversations — I’d genuinely like to meet people who share some of the same interests and maybe build some real friendships.
A few things about me:
🎸 Music is a huge part of my life. I play guitar and I’m heavily into metal and hard rock — everything from classic heavy metal to darker/heavier stuff. I’m always messing around with guitars, gear, amps, pedals and trying to get different tones.
👻 I love horror. Old-school horror, creepy movies, disturbing stuff, monsters, psychological horror — if it can keep you awake afterward, I’m probably interested.
🎬 Movies: Horror is definitely at the top, but I’m pretty open. I like movies that actually give you something to talk about afterward.
🤘 Other interests: music, guitars, woodworking, weird/creepy stuff, movies, discovering new music, and just learning random things that I probably didn’t need to know.
I’m not necessarily looking for anything specific from posting this. I’d just like to find some people around my age who are into similar things and are also looking for someone to talk to, hang out with, share music with, watch movies with, or just bullshit with when life gets boring.
If any of that sounds like you, feel free to say hello. Tell me your favorite band, favorite horror movie, or the weirdest movie you’ve ever watched. That’s probably a better conversation starter than “hey” anyway. 🤘

History Scout Real Estate?
Out of curiosity, is there a story behind Scout's seeming domination of the Lafayette commercial real estate market?
I recently returned to Lafayette and have general interests in business and real estate. I am fascinated by how many Scout signs I see.
(PS - a flair was required. 🤷🏻♂️)

News SpaceX/Home Values
Hoping some realtors or investors could pitch in here.
With the SpaceX investment mentioned and planned construction for 2027, what will happen to home values?
Lafayette seems to be the closest major city to the build.
Brownsville homes skyrocketed in appreciation, should we expect the same?
Are rents gonna go up?
Is this good or bad for Lafayette and surrounding areas?

Cultural What keeps you here?
So for me, it’s my age & grandkids. I’ve been in South Louisiana all my life, but for younger people, I genuinely wonder what it is. Climate pretty much sucks, education system is a mess, job opportunities are scarce, and wages low. I know the food is good, and we have great festivals. Other than that, what keeps you here?

Recommendations Looking for something to do in the evening that's not going to a bar!
Hey y'all! I'm looking for something to do in the area that's not drinking at a bar and I literally cant think of anything.
I'm disabled and I use a walker so I know my options are even more limited, but my boyfriend doesn't want me sitting in the house for days at a time. He recently moved away for work and Ive been pretty lonely and I've already had a few friends cancel on me.
Other than going to the movies, which I already go to a few times a month, what is there to do past 5pm?
I'm a 29F so I'm young and hip, but my body isn't 😭😭 I'm just trying to make sure I don't get depressed in house on the weekends and I would love some suggestions!

I have tried 2 different computers, a Mac and a PC, Firefox, Safari, Edge, nothing but nothing will accept my form, it just stares at me like I am the moron for wasting 3 hours of my life.
Is there any way to contact DPS after hours?

Recommendations has anyone been to a dentist in acadiana for tmj issues and can you tell me how much it cost?
my tmj/tmd pain is getting to the point where it’s seriously affecting my quality of life. i thought things were more muscular but a recent neck xray shows there may be more that’s bone related. i have a mouthguard i wear when i sleep that just keeps me from breaking my teeth (something that did happen when i wasn’t wearing one) but it’s not a tmj split. insurance doesn’t cover tmj dentistry. i know it’s going to be expensive, but not exactly how expensive, and i want to know to see if i can possibly try to afford it. particularly interested in craig landry dds if anyone has experience. i found info on lige dunaway that said the initial assessment is like $700. is that typical??

Recommendations Accessing the LFTfiber ConnecTV Expanded TIVO + Channels
I just switched my LFTfiber Service to ConnecTV Expanded.
I got the box so I can quickly get to a specific channel by just entering that channel number on the remote.
That works well for the regular channels but I am having problems with some of the TIVO+ channels.
When I enter some channel numbers on the remote, it goes directly to that channel. But when I enter other channel numbers, it does nothing & just stays on the channel I am already on.
If anyone else having this problem?
I called the LFTfiber technical support, but they did not have an answer.
