Hi SB. Are you talking about processing the voice to sound sort-of 8-bit/early game console/computer voice chip style (with an existing, pre-recorded modern vocal)? Just need a little more info so I understand the ask. thanks.

Yeah. I plan on altering my voice to be more computer-ish, then want to layer in an effect to make the voice more immersive

There are some 3rd party bit-crusher-type plugins that might give you some of that 'retro' 8-bit sound (you could convert to 8-bit in AU, but that'll introduce more noise/artifacts than you probably would like). Beyond that, there are all kinds of modulation presets (in both Flange and Chorus effects) that could help here. Again, it's just processing on-top-of the original, but with a little EQ (to all minimize bass frequencies and emphasize mid-range) you can definitely get something that sounds convincing. (band limiting the voice is a good place to start with something like the native parametric, fyi)
