Hand Knit FO Sunstead Sweater
This pattern is all over 2 or 3 color colorwork, except the ribbing. Id say 95% of rows are 2 color, which isnt not a challenge for me anymore but Im still super proud of this and I do feel like it belongs here.
For this pattern I heavily modified both the neckline and the sleeves to better fit. The neckline looked extremely up in everyone's throat and I've been wanting to learn how to do a V neck, and while at first it was a stretch of my ability to do the V neck, now I am more confident to put it on anything else I make now! I think I will round out the edge where the V meets the circle better next time though. I also wanted my sleeves to be fitted, not one giant tube with no decreases until the end so I did a large amount of measuring my whole arm to get the sizing of it as it decreased, and how often I should decrease.

Yarn: Kelbourne Woolens Perennial in Neon Pink, Malabrigo Yarn Mechita in Azul Profundo, The Yarn Smith US Merino Nylon in Marty, and Berroco Ultra Wool Fine in Cream. I got the blue, pink, and brown at various lys on vacations or fiber festivals and was stash busting.

Also, wow…I’d love to learn how to turn a crewneck into a V-neck. Any tips or resources you can pass on?

So theres a bit of math to getting it to be the right size, a bit like drawing a tringle and figuring out how many rows long you want that triangle to be, by how many stitches wide.
For a top down sweater you cast on all but the middle front stitches for the top of the triangle. Then the basic idea is to knit back and forth flat while increasing occasionally until you have the right number of stitches around, for the right height you wanted, then join in the round.

Love the neckline and top of shoulders.
I’m working on my first colorwork steeking sweater. Did you steek the sleeves at the top of shoulders for this? The pattern I’m doing asks to create a template for the neckline and machine sew zigzags then cut the work again… I’m so anxious.

This pattern did not have steeking, no. Start with a swatch! its always easier to cut something that only took an hour then something that took 20+ hours.

Yea, fair enough. I’m going to finish the knitting then make some “shoulder” swatches to try that technique of “template neckline”. Problem is, I have a sewing machine and no clue how to use it. 🤦♀️
