Hello! Tomorrow I want to visit Cabo do Sao Vicente to see the sunset, but I see that the lighthouse closed before the sunset.

I would like to know if It is a good place to see how the sun going under the Atlantic sea, I live in the other coast of the península (Spain, south of Valencia) and never see a sunset in the sea, only between mountains.

I like to see the sunset in a good place, with a parking near if possible, and with less people than the place with many tourist if It is possible too, because I will travel with my dog too. I dont mind if is another place, not need to be Cabo de Sao Vicente.

My partner and I are heading to the Algarve from Norway for 16 days in early October with our two kids, who will be 5 months and 2.5 years old. We’ve booked 5 days in both Lagos and Carvoeiro, and we’re really looking forward to it.

Has anyone travelled along the Algarve coast with young children? We’d love recommendations for family-friendly places, activities, beaches or restaurants. Are there any other towns that would be nice to stay in? We’ve considered Albufeira, but some travel blogs have made us wonder whether it might be a little too focused on nightlife. We’re a laid-back family who enjoy exploring, spending time at the beach and eating good food from local restaurants, preferably staying away from most of the all inclusive resort hotels.

We’re thinking of staying four or five nights in each place so the trip doesn’t feel too rushed. Would you recommend renting a car, or is public transport practical with two small children?

Travelling to Portimao in a few days and will be driving from Lisbon to Portimao on arrival in Portugal. I will be taking toll roads. After a long journey to Portugal, I imagine I will want to take a breather pit stop within the first 30-40 minutes of the drive - the first hour. Any recommendations for where to stop which wont take me too off track the toll roads? (Ie towns to see, worthwhile restaurant, beach or coastal stop, etc)?

Going to be in Lagos next week for about 8 days. We are a couple in our 30s. What are the must do/can't miss things we should do and see?

Hi everyone! I’m Portuguese and I’m thinking about taking another short 3-day break somewhere between 28 September and 16 October, either around Odeceixe or further south around Praia das Furnas / Raposeira.

I know nobody can predict the weather this far ahead — I’ll choose the actual dates according to the forecast — but I’m interested in what this period is normally like from people who live there or regularly visit.

Is it still common to have proper beach days around late September / the first half of October? Are people still swimming and spending several hours on the beach, or does beach life drop off very quickly after September?

More importantly, how quiet it actually gets? I’m not looking for August crowds at all, but I also don’t particularly want to spend three days on completely deserted beaches.

I’m especially interested in Odeceixe/Adegas and Praia das Furnas. I enjoy naturist/clothing-optional beaches, so if anyone knows whether Adegas or Furnas still get a reasonable number of naturists around that time, that would be particularly useful.

Also curious about the general atmosphere around Odeceixe and Raposeira at that time of year — hikers, surfers, solo travellers, hostels/restaurants still active, etc.

Basically: if you wanted 3 relaxed beach days with some people around, swimming, sun and no summer crowds, would you choose late September, first week of October, or would you still happily go around 10–16 October?

Hi, me and 3 friends have to leave our accommodation at 10am and we don’t fly home until around 9pm.

We have had an amazing experience in albufeira, with the old town being a highlight.

O que é certo é que deixei de cá vir durante a uns bons anos, sendo que noutros anos já tentei encontrar novamente o local mas sempre sem sucesso.

I am flying into Faro at the beginning of October and staying 5 full days and am looking advice about where to stay as a main base in the Algarve.

We are hoping for nice beaches, walks and views and, of course, great food (ESPECIALLY seafood!). We don't mind travelling to some of the villages and beaches and we're trying to avoid the main touristy areas like Albufeira.

Would Lagos be the best bet here or is there anywhere else you would recommend?

We will be travelling to Portugal in October and are torn on where to stay while we are in the Algarve for 5 nights with an 18 month old: Lagos (Editory by the Sea) or Carvoeiro (Primelife Carvoeiro)?

We'll be renting a car but ideally would like to be able to walk to restaurants, beaches, the town either in the morning or later afternoon before and after nap time. Foodie is an overstep but we do love local hidden gems/ food, cafes, a good patio, and cocktails/ wine. Also hoping to get the legs going and checking out the 7 Hanging Valley Trails or anything similar.

If anyone has any insight into travelling with an 18 month old to either of these places, or these specific hotels/ accommodations that would be greatly appreciated! Also open to anywhere else as well.

Has anyone experienced bullying or abusive treatment from the PSP border police at Faro Airport (Algarve, Portugal)?

I am a white Italian citizen living in Ireland. Yesterday, while returning to Dublin from Faro, the e gate did not work for me, so I joined the queue for the manual counters. When I reached the counter, the officer (a certain Mr. Kelvin) asked where I was going. I said Ireland, Dublin Ireland.

He then switched to Italian:

"Italiano?" (Yes, I’m Italian, I replied).

"Ma è vero?" / "Is it true?" (Yes, of course, that’s my passport).

"Yes, but is it true? Are you sure?" (Yes sir, I’m Italian).

He kept asking "Is it true?" while laughing, and then asked: "yes but where are you originally from?" I repeated that I’m from Italy and live in Ireland.

"How long have you been living in Ireland?" (20 years I said).

– "Yes, but is it true?

He spent around 10 minutes flipping back and forth through my passport pages (which are full of stamps from frequent travel to Asia), talking to his colleague and clearly trying to mock and ridicule me. He kept repeating the same questions over and over after I had already answered them.

Eventually, I told him my wife was waiting for me on the other side. He called her back, re-checked her passport, and when I asked if there was any actual issue with my profile or passport, he simply said it was a "normal police control." I mentioned to my wife that apparently we were staying there for the night, but then we would have to contact the Italian Embassy. He said I am only doing my job.

Obviously my passport had zero issues when landing at Dublin Airport.

My wife was looking at his screen from the other side all the time and it was empty, he was looking at an empty screen all the time.

I am definitely filing a formal report with the Italian Embassy in Lisbon and the PSP, but I wanted to ask here: is this kind of behavior, power trip common at Faro Airport, or was this just a one off?
