Reducing stress on body as much as possible during eating disorder that is not expected to significantly improve - trying to heal chronic conditions

2 Upvotes

The situation I’m in:

I have multiple chronic health conditions that I’ve tried to heal over the years. I want so badly to be healthy and well. I’ve been embracing this whole crunchy, alternative, holistic health approach to healing. Incorporating conventional med as needed, but really trying to get to the root causes.

Here’s the problem: I have an eating disorder. I’ve had one for 10 years, since I was 12 and experienced ongoing SA (ages 11-12). I’ve been to treatment multiple times. Inpatient. Outpatient. I’ve been in therapy the whole time. I’ve done trauma work. I’m currently in EMDR. I’ve tried all the behavioral approaches.

I just don’t expect that it’s going to stop any time soon.

I have improved, and am more medically stable. I no longer eat a starvation diet, purge multiple times a week, abuse laxatives, etc. I’ve come a long way. But I have a long long way to go.

Unfortunately, it’s common for some people with EDs to not substantially improve, experience chronic symptoms, even with help and treatment. My providers are trying to help me take a harm reduction approach. This means minimizing damage as much as possible while I’m in this state.

My health right now

Basically, I’m in a functional medicine program trying to treat the root causes of my illnesses.

I have:
* interstitial cystitis
* histamine, oxalate, and FODMAP and other food intolerances that exasperate symptoms
* IBS and bowel issues
* past gastroparesis with some residual symptoms
* pelvic floor disorder
* PCOS (no insulin resistance)
* adult onset celiac disease
* past hypothyroidism (now on low end of ‘normal’)
Plus:
* autism
* ADHD
* mood disorders
* and obviously, a raging eating disorder

According to testing, my root causes:
* H Pylori
* low stomach acid
* gut bacteria imbalance and slight overgrowth
* unsure about parasites
* Candida
* Mold (which is apparently a huge driver of my symptoms)
* adrenal fatigue
* leaky gut
* nutrient and mineral deficiencies
* slow gut motility
* hormonal imbalance (low estrogen and progesterone, high testosterone)
* poor liver detox
* poor digestive capacity, low stomach acid, impaired fat digestion
* high oxalates (despite low oxalate diet)
* copper imbalance
* mild heavy metal exposure
* nervous system dysregulation
* pelvic floor dysfunction

Stressors on my body/what ED looks like:

* binge purge cycles. I have a cycle once a week where I binge and throw up a few times in a row. I try to keep it to once a week but occasional I also throw up 1-2 times more throughout the week
* eating around 1700 calories a day for a months now. This is an improvement from 1500, which was an improvement from 1000-1200.
* Trying to gradually increase food intake and metabolism through reverse dieting. Not going so well. I gain when I increase.
* running a few times a week for 20-50 minutes. I love running and don’t want stop completely.
* I used to fast until 5 pm once a week, but stopped doing that recently
* I am completely, utterly opposed to (and dread) gaining any weight or body fat. I am not underweight and already significantly struggle psychologically with maintaining my weight.
* I am on several medications, including psych meds. I have horrible reactions every time I try to get off of them, and believe me I’ve tried.

* restrictive diet due to illnesses: low histamine, low oxalate, low in digestive irritants, no meat, little dairy, no gluten, no soy or legumes except pea protein, limited grains, limited nuts and seeds, etc
* my diet looks like: a lot of specific fruit, some specific vegetables, pea protein, occasional seafood, raw kefir, low calorie semi processed foods, starches like potatoes and rice products, coconut products and dairy alternatives
* can go into more detail about my diet or medications or symptoms if asked

Efforts I’m already making:

* keeping my ED at bay enough to be medically stable (1700 calories, reducing purging, etc)
* taking multiple supplements, including temporary ones to directly treat my root causes (on H Pylori protocol as of now)
* making dietary and lifestyle changes
* nervous system regulation, stress reduction
* eating carbs before runs and carbs and protein after
* eating every few hours
* considering eating a more substantial breakfast, right now it’s just fruit
* increasing strength training
* taking things to soothe my gut lining, stomach lining, esophagus and digestive tract: DGL licorice, slippery elm, marshmallow root, l glutamine, etc
* taking nutrients such as a B complex, cod liver oil for vitamin A and D, lactoferrin to increase iron absorption (I have low ferritin), etc
* taking bovine thyroid
* taking chaste tree to increase period regularity

I need to get my body out of this fight or flight state, and reduce the damage I’m doing to my gut, immune system, hormones, etc.

The basic question:

How do I minimize the stress my body is going through, and achieve the most healing possible while in this state? How do I reduce damage done? How do I physically heal while I’m struggling?

And how much healing of my conditions can I realistically expect? Even after treating the root causes, if my ED continues, will I be able to get better?

I know it’s going to probably still affect my gut symptoms. I can’t heal my gut when I keep destroying it. What about my interstitial cystitis and food intolerances? Can those get better?

This is not me giving up progress. This is me recognizing what has been my reality: that’s it’s going to be slow, non-linear, and a long term struggle before I get there. I just want to do the best I can to heal my body meanwhile. I don’t want to be chronically ill until I finally get my ED under control.

Why is my hair unhealthy?

3 Upvotes

My diet is good, and my lifestyle is too, my hair was never damaged. Yet my hair gets frizzy and dry, and only looks and feels good when wet. It is wavy and the length of 9-10 months of growth(from conventional short hair) without a trim. I use a hair mask twice a week, which consists of an egg yolk, 1tbs honey, 1tsp coconut oil, and 1tsp acv, which works fine for a day or two and then it wears off. I want my hair to be soft, shiny and healthy. Can I get some help?

A recipe draft for an experimental herbal alternative to psychiatric medication

6 Upvotes

A recipe draft for an experimental herbal alternative to psychiatric medication.

(Vape herb liquid, instead of taking pills.)

Revision #9.

I do not guarantee benefit, or take responsibility for bad effects. The laws of most countries oblige me to state: traditional doctors are experts at this.

Only experiment when you can afford the risk. An example could be: you have light mental discomfort and are offered a choice to try pills.

Do not use more than one medicine, especially synthetic and herbal, at the same time, unless certain of safety. My mix of herbs may not work well for other people. Do not use intoxicants.

Consider visiting a herbal therapist, if only to have someone do the talking with your traditional doctor.

Because of its opposing established order, the present writing may not be received well. If you're interested, copy for later use.

Instructions.

Acquire extract powder of Pink Lotus leaf, which is also called Sacred or Indian Lotus. Etsy, eBay, Amazon are places to look. Lotus accounts for  antipsychotic-like damping of thoughts.

Add Black Pepper to enhance the Lotus effect. Add Passiflora extract powder for benzo-like calming of panic.

Add Propylene Glycol (food/pharma grade) to the herb powder. Steep for 72 hours. Filter twice: through cheesecloth, then through coffee filters.

Add Linalool for making the body quiet.

Calculate the amounts you use, starting with this:

I use extracts 50:1 Passiflora, 100:1 Lotus and plain 1:1 Pepper. The active substances in each of those (research apigenin, nuciferine, piperine) counted as 1 part volume, mix each herb powder in 15 parts PG, steep and filter. Mix Linalool at 1:10 in PG.

In 54 parts I have 12 Passiflora liquid, 2 Pepper liquid, 32 Lotus liquid and 6 Linalool mixture.

Dilute the combined mixture with Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerine (food/pharma grade.) The diluted mixture should have at least 45% VG and not too much herb, making it ideal for vaping. I dilute 9 parts herb mixture with an additional 13 PG and 38 VG.

Shake this every hour for a day.

Transfer to an empty 'vape liquid bottle.' (The opening looks like a plastic needle.)

Consume this in a vape. I recommend Vaporesso Luxe XR Max 2 with the included liquid container marked 'DTL' and seperately bought 1.2 ohm coils. Coils, or 'resistances,' are the heating parts, which are sold in strong and weak versions. I recommend those rated at 1.2. Buy at least ten. Set the vape to pulse mode and 5 watts, according to the manual. If you have reason to try a different vape model, set it to low power.

Draw a fairly deep breath of vapour into the lungs and keep it for some seconds before exhaling. Take 2-4ml, 4-6 times daily.

Like with all vaping, take care to leave a bit of liquid in the container at all times. Drawing only air will damage the heating part.

The fresh pepper taste normally fades. When you can't taste much other flavour anymore, or it is burned or caramel, or you consistently get bits of liquid instead of vapour, your coil is used up. This is either due to not taking care of the liquid level, described above, or natural degrading after at most a week of use. Switch off, drain the liquid, replace the coil. Fill liquid, wait 10 minutes and switch on.

I leave it to experiment if a lower concentration herb in the mix, degrading the coil less, would allow you to consume more herb in total, on one coil.

help with infection

4 Upvotes

Hey
30(M) have suffered from a life threatening car accident when I took a tree head on. I survived with an open wound fracture on my ankle. Due to the biodiverse environment I caught a fungal infection called Clostridium sporogenes infection

The doctors gave me 2 rounds of antibiotics which were

Amoxicillin and daptomycin which is the highest form of antibiotics. This method has only destroyed my biome gut health.

What are some natural herbs or foods or even oils that will give me a fighting chance to save my foot?

Naturopathy is Medicine, Chiropractic is Medicine

0 Upvotes

Fake medicine. Naturopathic strategies are sometimes real, and sometimes not. Rather than working based on days and trials like evidence-based medicine, naturopathic strategies are assumed to be correct, even with overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Naturopathy ignores new evidence about treatments and asserts the taking qualities of a number of entirely unsupported treatments. It is a scam that keeps you from full evidence-based care. It relies on the naturalistic fallacy to get you: we expect natural things to be good for us and unnatural things to be bad, but that's just not necessarily true. This is a scam that harms your health and the actual data is very clear on the matter. This is pseudoscience that preys on people who totally understandably look at modern medicine and feel scared. Like yeah, it for sure looks scary. A bunch of needles and machines you don't understand and tubes running everywhere isn't exactly an inviting image, but that doesn't mean it's actually worse for you.

Please find real, evidence-based medical care for your own well-being.

My wife and I are planning on buying our first home soon, and would like to get a water filter as soon as we move in. Any recommendations? We don’t really know where to start looking.

I finally understand why people say not to trust TikTok for supplements

1 Upvotes

My wife and I were joking about how every other video recommends a different supplement for the exact same problem. I almost bought three different things before realizing none of the people making the videos agreed with each other. Now I'm back on Reddit because at least people argue and explain why they like something. Has anyone else gotten burned by social media recommendations?

has anyone tracked cognitive testing while taking supplements?

2 Upvotes

i have been trying different herbs and natural remedies for mental clarity, but i hate relying on vague feelings to know if a routine is working. i want a reliable way to check if my focus and short term recall are actually getting better.

a lot of brain tracking games just measure how good you get at playing them rather than actual cognitive function. i want to know if people here use specific simple tests or tracking methods to log how natural supplements affect brain fog over time.

what tools or habits you guys use to track your mental sharpness when starting a new herbal protocol.

update: thought I'd come back to this and after combining daily journal logs with the wikipedia recall test idea, i started taking Igniton's IgniCognition to see if it would actually make a measurable difference in my mental sharpness.

tracking simple recall metrics over a few weeks instead of relying on gamified apps really helped cut through the noise. my recall scores and daily logs showed a clear, steady improvement in short term memory, and the brain fog cleared up way faster than with the previous herbal protocols i tried.

Human garage nervous system work?

6 Upvotes

What do you guys think of the Human Garage in terms of facial work or organ work for severe nervous system dysfunction?

I’ve heard mixed reviews about HG in general. The facial maneuvers are one thing, a couple have helped me a little.

Their organ resets really do something for me though, I’ve struggled with severe nervous system dysfunction. I immediately notice a calming difference when doing some of the organ resets.

Asking more for anyone who has really given their stuff a go for at least a couple weeks regarding anything related to nervous system issues? Anyone have success?

TLDR:Your brain is a cheap Bluetooth speaker that is extremely easy to manipulate what it plays. Read second paragraph if you want to understand why everything is short form content now. Decades of Toxicity from Heavy Metals are directly causing autoimmune issues, dementia, anxiety, weight gain, cardiac issues, even IQ loss. It's not fluoride in the water/toothpaste, its decades of heavy metal poisoning. Example of how lead mimics Ca in the body. D E T O X .

Post image
9 Upvotes

This mimicry leads to severe systemic toxicity through several mechanisms:

Neurological Disruption:

Lead crosses the blood-brain barrier, blocking calcium channels and altering neurotransmitter function, which causes cognitive deficits, memory loss, and developmental delays, particularly in children.

Bone Accumulation:

The body stores 90-95% of lead in bones, where it binds to the bone matrix; low dietary calcium can trigger bone resorption, releasing stored lead back into the bloodstream.

Cardiovascular and Cellular Damage:

Lead disrupts calcium-dependent processes in heart cells, leading to hypertension and arrhythmias, while also generating oxidative stress that damages DNA and inhibits heme production, causing anemia.

Patrice Krysztofiak review: My disappointing €250 “medical intuitive” session

8 Upvotes

I am sharing my personal experience with Patrice Krysztofiak so that anyone considering booking a session with him can make an informed decision.

I had a one-hour online session with him on July 23, 2026, and paid €250—approximately CAD $400.

I discovered Patrice through several Spotify and YouTube podcasts. He and the hosts claimed that he could “see inside the body,” identify health problems without being told someone’s medical history, and sometimes guide people toward the correct medical treatment. Several hosts said they had personally experienced his abilities and were amazed by what he found. This made everything sound very believable.

To be clear, I did not book the session expecting a guaranteed healing. I booked it because I believed his claim that he could look inside the body and identify the underlying cause of a person’s health problems.

He did not identify any of my actual health conditions. He initially mentioned high blood pressure, although mine has generally been normal or low. After I told him that I did not have a blood-pressure problem, he did not appear to make any further attempt to identify what was happening inside my body.

Instead, he repeatedly moved his head from side to side and said that he was clearing blocked energy from my past lives. This was completely different from the “X-ray vision” and ability to identify specific physical problems described in the podcasts.

Other people he described as students or healers were also present during parts of the session. One repeatedly went off camera while coughing, which was presented as a reaction to the energy around me.

At one point, Patrice repeatedly asked me to say, “You are a jerk,” directly to him. I was confused and asked, “You want me to say that to you?” He said yes. After I said it, he asked me to repeat it with more anger. I was asked to say it three times.

Between the coughing, unusual movements and claims about clearing energy, I began to feel within the first few minutes that I had been scammed. The entire experience felt completely different from what had been presented in the podcasts.

At the end, I clearly told him that I had felt nothing and had received no meaningful information. He told me to wait two days and said that I would begin seeing colours and healing. I waited longer, but nothing changed. I then emailed him explaining this and asking for a refund, but he never acknowledged or replied to my email.

People dealing with ongoing health problems can be vulnerable because we are searching for answers, relief and hope. Based on my experience, this session was a complete waste of my time and hard-earned money.

Did I Just Pass A WORM? *TMI*

1 Upvotes

I started diatomaceous earth and was on it for about a month and a half maybe (?), taking two teaspoons a day. I paused for two or so weeks and began again. Today is my third day back on it, only this time I’m having one teaspoon a day.
Anyway, today I went to the toilet and passed stool (I never look at it), and went to have a shower. I sat in the shower, somewhat of a squat (I have EDS and POTS so sometimes it’s easier to sit - I started DE because of debilitating symptoms since 2023, I also always have suspected I have autism, but that’s neither here nor there), and upon standing I noticed a live, thick, black worm, exactly where I had been sitting. I was shocked and am embarrassed to share this.
Now, I’ve seen similar worm things in my shower before sadly, my shower had a huge mould issue which the landlord refused to fix (there were many functional issues with this shower), long before I started DE. I had seen these things crawl up the wall - was awful! And this was very similar, only the shower was renovated a few months back and I’ve seen nothing of the sorts since.
So idk - is this normal? What do we think? Did it come out of me? Are they always live/black? 😭

Obviously this is not medical advice or anything of the sort, am not a doctor, just had many debilitating symptoms and took my health into my own hands.

how to improve focus naturally without stimulants when caffeine stops helping

5 Upvotes

giving a small update here. i appreciate everyone who shared their ideas here. spent some time looking into the things people mentioned and but then i decided to try brainmd for myself. i havent had enough time with it to say whether it makes a difference so no big conclusions from me yet. mainly hoping it gives me another option alongside the basic stuff i already been working on like sleep, food and getting outside more.

what changes had the biggest impact on your focus even if they seemed too simple to work? there was a time when one cup of coffee was enough to get through the day now it feels like the extra energy shows up before the actual focus does if that even makes sense. i can still be wide awake and somehow accomplish almost nothing.

i am looking more at everyday habits instead of adding stronger stuff like better sleep eating on a regular schedule and spending less time glued to my phone all seem connected somehow but its hard to tell which one matters most because life changes all at once.

EDS - Looking For Solutions!

3 Upvotes

So I have EDS (m26). It is making my life unbearable. My symptoms are endless. How do I approach healing? I hear so many different things aside from the idea that it's impossible to heal, such as mast cells, histamine, etc & it all just becomes words. I am overwhelmed. Two of my biggest issues are my atlas bone and jaw which is severely misaligned, been getting atlas orthogonal but haven't had heaps of luck. I have heard of PRP or something? Would that be beneficial? Same goes for my collapsed and deviated nose and nasal tip I need surgically dealt with. Idk. This is just the tip of the iceberg, most of my issues are debilitating. I just want to heal it. Even certain detoxes, etc become overwhelming. Idk where to start!

Seeking advice: metastatic colorectal cancer patient with severe lung infection after a clinical trial drug

4 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m posting on behalf of a family member in Australia, and we are hoping to learn from anyone who has experienced something similar or may have advice on ways to help heal her lung infection which is making it very difficult to breath.

She has metastatic colorectal cancer (bowel cancer) with spread to the lungs. She has undergone previous treatments and more recently entered a clinical trial for a new antibody-drug conjugate (ADC):
LM-350 (LaNova Medicines / Sino Biopharmaceutical)
Clinical trial: NCT07112222 (LM350-01-101)
LM-350 is a CDH17-targeting antibody-drug conjugate carrying a topoisomerase-1 inhibitor payload. She received her most recent dose on 14 July 2026.

Before this current problem, her cancer had been described as relatively stable, but shortly after treatment she developed serious breathing difficulties.
She is currently in hospital:
She has been on oxygen for around a week but is still struggling to maintain her oxygen levels.
Doctors suspect drug-induced pneumonitis/interstitial lung disease related to the trial drug.
She has also tested positive for human metapneumovirus (hMPV), so there may be an infection component as well.
She is being treated with dexamethasone/steroids.
We are trying to find anyone who has experience with:
pneumonitis or interstitial lung disease after an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC)
lung toxicity after cancer trial drugs
recovery from drug-induced pneumonitis while also having a respiratory virus
supportive treatments that helped with breathing, lung recovery, or rehabilitation
specialists or centres in Australia with experience in this area
We understand every situation is different and her oncology team is managing her care, but we are looking for experiences, questions we should be asking, or anything that may help us support her.
Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to reply.
