Android or iPhone for Amazon flex?
If you are using an android phone please mention the model and why you like it? I need a reliable phone for work.If you prefer Android why do you think it's better for Amazon flex?
iPhone is an iPhone, if you prefer it why do you think it's better for Amazon flex?

I doubt it matters. I use Android and I have no complaints. Never seen anyone with an iPhone complaining about it on there. I'd just go with which ever you prefer over all.

Do you guys carry a second backup phone, in case you get a second block and not enough time to charge the main phone?

If you have a portable power bank I just stick it in my pocket and have a long cord while I flex, it's annoying but does the job. But I've never really had an issue with battery life unless I forgot to charge my phone before my route but even then I've run a route on 40% and was completely fine. I have a s26+

You could buy a power bank at Target or Best Buy if you don't have a USB charger in your car.

What phone do you have? I have a Samsung S25 Ultra and never had any problems keeping enough charge to do multiple blocks. I don't even use the power save mode and the battery level rarely goes below 40%. While I'm driving, I always connect my phone to the charger. I close all of the apps except Flex and Google Maps.

OnePlus 12, the heat in Las Vegas is making the battery life short, It's brutal in the summer here, I will look into mid-range phones because its not worth a high end phone in this climate, heat shorten life span of phones here had a OnePlus 8t and become so slow after one year of Amazon flex, the heat did it.

From the station to the first stop yes, but once it starts it's annoying to attach the charging cord between stops couple minutes of charge between each stop won't help.

I hear you, and I do the same, keeping it fully charged till I get to the first stop. 90% of the time I can get through the block without running out of juice. If there is an issue, then I will plug it in when is more than a few minutes between stops just to keep enough till done. Typically, if I’m doing another block, I can get enough Recharging done before I start the second block

If your phone has MagSafe, get a MagSafe charger phone mount. Just hold the phone up to the mount and it stays and charges. I got one during Prime days and it’s been so much easier than plugging it in all the time.

Moto g play 2024, just for gig apps, including Flex. -I have a different phone for personal use, a high end phone-.
I can work a 5hr block - starting at 90-100% - and return home 40% without overheating even if the ambient temp is 100f [For me, this is the most important factors].
I performed a very aggressive debloat on the phone, disabling everything that could be disabled, including the basic apps, and replaced only the bare minimum with Fossify apps.Â

That a good idea, I'm gonna buy a mid range phone like Moto or Samsung to do most of the work, keeping my high end phone as a backup phone for work. Thanks

I used to Flex with an iPhone SE (as recently as last summer!)... yes, an iPhone with a home button. Almost all of the drivers either have a Galaxy S25/26 or newer iPhone. They used to laugh at me until they realized I was catching blocks at the drop times better than them. I don't know if it's true, but a driver (who is also a programmer) told me iPhones are better than Androids at refreshing for blocks.

I have a OnePlus 12, was looking to get an older iPhone from Amazon, iPhone 13 to be specific to try it as a backup phone or maybe if I like it it will be my main work phone . Good to know

Some drivers reported glitches with older iPhones, including problems like getting video verification to work when checking in for blocks. That is what I've heard. The Flex app used to glitch a lot with my iPhone SE, but it was an outdated phone ... so I switched to a new Android.

For gig work I use Moto G Stylus 2025 with Infimobile plan. For personal use I have S26U.
Motorola phone is great for gig works.

It’s not a matter of preference for me. I’ve been using iPhone since 2010. It works for me.

It doesn’t matter now. Originally the Flex app was Android only, then it became available for iPhone. Years ago it ran better on Android, now it’s the same. For reference I had an Android for my regular job and an iPhone for personal use. I’ve used it on both but now I exclusively use iPhone.

Android is better for customization which is helpful for flexing as you will need Google maps often as Amazon's own app is inconsistent. Music is better on YT music or your own downloaded music, and the battery life is better. I live in az 115 is common rn. Android conserves battery way more. And for pictures you want high quality pics otherwise it will keep having you retake them because they're "blurry". Any mid range + phone is good. 300$+ essentially. With emphasize on battery and photo quality as you will be taking hundreds or even thousands of pics if you do this job

you can use whatever map app you have d/l with flex. i use waze with my IP17, also youtube music…anyways
OP i’ve never had any issues using an IP. overheating, dead batt etc.

If you want the "best" phone, just buy the latest most expensive iPhone or Samsung. I don't think it really matters.

Galaxy Fold 7. Battery life is just fine id say a whole shift without charging takes is about 50% without power saver. Im usually running Flex Waze and. Spotify/YouTube.
My only complaint is after an update about 6 or so months ago tge Speech on the GPS is fast and I was never able to dial it back down. Im used to it now but was annoying for a while.
Prior I had an s22 ultra and it was kill most the battery
All in all if your phone is newish or the battery is good it doesnt matter what phone you use.

It doesn't matter for flex. Just pick a phone and work. Don't make this easy job harder than what it has to be. Pretty much it. Android are gonna say android and apple are gonna say apple.
