Amazon.com route

So this morning I had an 3:15 am route scheduled. I left my house about 40 minutes before route start time like I normally do. Unexpectedly the exact exit I needed to take to get to the Amazon warehouse was closed so I had to take a detour which added about 10 additional minutes to my drive. This put me at arriving at the station at 3:19 am which is within the 5 minute grace period. I pull in at 3:19 exactly and check in. Block then says “you have missed your block”. So I reached out to support and requested that this be fixed because I checked in within my 5 minute grace period. Support then tells me that there is no longer a 5 minute grace period for check ins due to change of processes. Not sure what exactly that means but that’s cool they can change and make up their own rules without at least notifying drivers via email of such changes. So frustrating!

Grace period is 4 minutes 59 seconds. Arriving at 3:19am was cutting it way too close. It could have been 3:19:50 and by the time the check in process completed, you had missed your block.

Support makes stuff up a lot of the time. I wouldn't believe them about the grace period change.

Should've said that you used the Amazon Flex app to guide you to the warehouse and it sent you to a closed exit. If you put that in the ticket they might give you grace so it won't count against you.

Did you do the click I arrived face recognition amd check in on the app before on 319 or before? If not then you were late. I always tell ppl I don't believe in the whole 5 min grace its more like 4 cause on that 5 mins you're cooked

Yes! This! Pretend there is no grace period and plan on arriving early!

Yeah I fully checked in and identity verified by 3:19 so I guess lesson learned and won’t even bank on the 5 minute grace time anymore in the event of unexpected delays. This was a first for me so I’ll just leave earlier and add another 5 minutes to my fluff time just in case.

You should've checked with the facility associates. I arrived 10 minutes late once and they were able to override it and get me checked in.

I did go right to the associate who was at the check in podium but when I explained to him my circumstance he said verbatim “if it already says you missed your block on your app there is nothing I can do in the system sorry”.

Thats also not true because I was in line waiting to get my id scanned but I absentmindedly forgot to check in on time. They over rode the missed block message.

Let me guess. You missed by couple seconds.

I have changed, I just go early to find parking, plan my day, read something, plan my vacations, check the news, have breakfast, because there always something on the road.

You can even nap in your car if possible….

The Start Route screen shows you what time to arrive by hence .. 3:20am... really 3:19am.

On your next route before you " start travel " see if it has changed. If it hasn't then support is a liar like always. If it has then this would be brand new.

I see… I will check for this today when I check in for my block tonight.

That sucks. Every damn time I cut it close like that, something usually tries to get me. Like you said, add more time to get there just in case.

They can check you in up to 9:59 after your start time. You have to scan your license by 9;59 also obviously. If that happens again close chat and start another one. Go under Help then click the arrival issue then chat.

From my understanding it's always been check in on the app before the your start time and then it's 5min grace period after your start time to ID scan at the scanners/kiosk. This always made sense to me this way. By this, it makes you late and missed your block

Where are you located? Once, I arrived and began the check in process but got distracted and didn't complete it, I know super irresponsible on my part. Anyway then the notification popped up that my block was missed... etc. Station attendant said I should call support. I did. They overrode it. I was only a minute late after the grace period. After it was overode, station attendant scanned my license and to my surprise I was checked in.

I’m in Florida. I try to get most of my blocks at the nearest warehouse which is about a 25 minute drive provided there are no road issues. This particular warehouse seems to be very unorganized and most of the employees seem agitated most days. Last week one lady was taking a bit longer to load her vehicle because it was mostly large boxes and the employee made her step to the side and pause everything she was doing because she wasn’t loading fast enough. I like the Amazon.com routes because the packages are already numbered but I may start taking more sub same day routes because they don’t bother you really. You just scan in and grab your cart.

You have to “complete” the check in process by the 5 minute mark. That includes the identity verification
